I am as much a Lexus fan as any other here, but this feels like a generation or two behind what Tesla is doing today. Lexus you gotta pursuit it more aggressively or risk being left behind in a few years' time. To be fair this is the same problem faced by almost every other car makers now.

Tesla is EV my friend. All EVs are computer first, car second. Combustion engines are car first, computer second. If these things fascinate you that much then get an EV

As long as there is feedback to assure the driver that the car detected an obstacle ahead. One of my greatest concerns is the expectation that the driver would react on time to system anomalies when there is an expectation that the car would be in control. By the time the driver finally figures out "hey maybe my car doesn't realise there is a car ahead", it'd probably be a bit late.

This needs a lot of complex driver interaction, it would be easier just to drive yourself.

Lexus removed my previous comment criticizing this system. So I will say it again: This is a lot of work for the driver and very distracting. Rather invest your resources towards improving accident avoidance systems. This system seems like it will cause accidents more than anything else.

@@generaluser I'm the guy who has over 15 years of automotive engineering experience in cockpit electronics and ADAS including UI/UX design. And who owns and has driven a similar system (SuperCruise) for over 5000 miles handsfree. I can guarantee the system won't "cause accidents more than anything else."

Change the name from teammate to “mother in law in the passenger seat” because this system is terrible. Much better off just licensing FSD from Tesla.
