For the Santa Fe units I'm going with the dash 7 as though I typically prefer EMD locomotives, I will never forget the programming headache it was to make my Athearn Genesis P42s Tsunami 2 decoder play nice with my Rapido F40s loksound decoder. I had to remove the engine sound from function 8 as I had to turn the f40 on and that would mute the p42. Anyway the dash 7 is also Rapido so it probably accellerates a bit smoother as I've noticed Genesis units are a but jerky as if they are shifting gears, no idea why. For CN I choose the ScaleTrains Tier 4 GEVO, this is because of the awesome performance even on scaletrains operator units, and because of my awesome experience with their customer service. Again I usually prefer EMD locomotives but I haven't had the chance to experience the quality or customer service at Aurora

That’s quite the explanation. Thanks for sharing. I purchased a new P42 but have yet to run it. So far the reviews are good. I never thought about that, running a Rapido and an Athearn together. Hmm. As for Aurora’s model, I think I have a lemon. Chuggy and the fans don’t spin. Haven’t reached out yet for service help. Lots of people love it which means I got a dud. Looks nice though! Shelf queen it is! 😀

Athearn GP38-2 (cause it's such a ubiquitous loco) and Aurora SD60F (just because we had so many come into the yard where I worked and they shook the ground when they left!). And yes, I missed the previous battle...my bad!
