For all of you who want Slash's tone,
Amp: JCM800
Cabinet: Marshall (doesn't matter which)
Distortion: Grunge or Rodent
Distortion Gain: 80
Distortion Level: 70
Reverb: Lexicon Room
Delay: None
EQ: Bass: 7 Mid: 7 Treble:9
1960 amp cabinet he used I think
I love that openning delay thing. It sounds so cool.
That's U2, hence the name "Edge", he's playing Where the streets have no name
Bought RP255 couple of years ago...love it.
I don't bother using an Amp anymore I just play the Rp 255 through my computer.
How? Did you just hook it up with the USB? Do you need a soundcard or did you use the inbuilt one of your motherboard?
TheEthug You will need a Printer type cable
(USB on one end printer jack on the other) to attach it to a computer for using the software package that comes with it.(but it isn't absolutely necessary to operate the unit.)
Also it has a 1/8" headphone out jack, you can either just use headphones/speakers directly or with a 1/8 stereo patchcord feed it into your line in audio computer input
Plus there are two 1/4" outpots for input into amp or mixing board. (stereo and mono)
No need for a sound card as far as I know
One thing though I have two computers one XP and one windows 7, everything works great on the old XP, but there is a slight delay in the sound when played through the windows 7...I don't know why...but it is un-usable at any rate.(could be an audio driver problem)
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask:-)
Ps...I was looking for just an average distortion stomp box, before I found this new type of unit...it is everything I've always wanted in one package. (it has so many sound variable you could almost spend a lifetime exploring them all)
It also comes with a good instruction book.
man that last solo jam andy did was KILLER!!!!
wow..im liking it alot more that i thought i would, Especially the Wind cries mary sound.
Yes you can. When you have your RP255 plugged in via USB, FL Studio will recognize its drivers. Then you just need to open the mixer using F9, choose a mixer track, and set the input to RP255 stereo (check and see). Good luck! PS: I just put up a short clip on my channel. I used my FL Studio for the recording.
There are 60 factory and 60 User presets. You can make up your own or start with the factory and tweak them. Thanks
Digitech RP255 and x- edit can reproduce any pedal you want , just create the effect and name and save it to the pedal as a preset
I'm gonna guy one used. Seems to be decent ?
I was thinking POD, then maybe a Tonelab... I've just been convinced on this one. Solved my pedalboard dilemma... Thanks Andy =)
and at 3:40, it reminds me of 'Tumbling Dice' from the Stones, nice to hear it. As usually good demo, thanks Andy!
@bassie1995 - We did this video 11 months ago, so exact settings are not going to be possible. It wouldn't matter anyway, due to differences in guitars, amps, pickups, fingers, and the innumerable other variables involved. If you watch the video carefully though, and do what Andy does, you'll be in the ballpark. Good luck!
Pretty amazing pedal, pretty amazing review
I had an RP250 and it does indeed have a USB port.
You will need to set it up so the banks you want are side by side. It's very difficult (i find anyway) to switch on the fly. The PR355 has a "stomp box mode" that may be more what you're looking for.
Nice sounds and I love the looper. Would have been nice if the audio on the video was in stereo.
love the loop.
Wow this actually sounds good. Digitech has surprised me lately with their Hardwire pedals.
These are awesome pedals with many uses and features for a small amount of money. The black painted RP models are the best, Grey is good, avoid the early silver
wow! dats a cool pedal never gave a look at this!!
This is a really good demo. Thank you. I just bought the unit, this demo gave me a whole bunch of ideas. Could you tell us something about your recording setup for the video? Mic'd amps? Sounded fantastic!
my friend, you have the greatest job in the world :D
I love the song of the intro.......
Muy buen pedal para empezar en el rol de los efectos
I've got some of these why dose the spring always go away with that pedal lol they are great to have just wish my pedal worked
nice U2 sound
i'll get this hopefully when i'm half decent.
Dont forget that you should down load X-edit. it makes custom effects soooo much easier. connect to your computer and away you go.
I like his sneakers. No, seriously, good demo, the Hendrix was great~
@breakingthe4thwall yes. when not being used as a wah or a whammy. the pedal is a volume pedal. Atleast on the rp500. it should more than likely be the same on the 255
@ProGuitarShopDemos
Thanks for the accurate Info and your Help! Great Video!
I'm gonna use this live tommarow
@leddeath80 yes you can use it with a solid state practice amp and no it doens't necessarily need an amp since you can use it by just plugging into it your guitar and your headphones.
Bypass is when the signal goes through the machine unprocessed, so it has the same sound as if the machine wasn't there.
Awesome playing!
Can you edit the individual parameters of each effect like the speed and depth of the chorus, gain for the distortion. etc.?
Thanks!
the start is great
i love U2
Why was it discontinued?
GREAT Taste of music !
Great .Thanks .would be great if you could keep these videos coming :)
Somebody please tell me if the “auto swell” is identical in all rp55, 155 and 255.
@lobato114 yes it has a patch library and you could even download a program, connect a usb chord and change presets on the computer
I like how the first thing the guy could think of were Tom Morello riffs for the Whammy and wah. LOL
@GGuitar45 It has 2 for amps (left and right) and 1 output for headphones
@buffalo4321able Yes, every features can be turned on/off, you don't have to turn the amp modelling on to use effects.
How would this sound with a bass? And if this is more a guitar box, and wouldn't sound that good with a bass, are there any kind of bass modelers like this?
this thing totally rocks if u know ur stuff
this makes me miss my gnx4...
I have one like it. It turns off automatically. What do I do? Can you help me? Please
@ProGuitarShopDemos rp355 has stompbox mode too. u can on/off distortion, delay and fx/chorus with footswitches. and rp500 doesn't have drum machine.
hi there, recently bought this Digitech RP255. Would like to play Hotel California Solo with RP255 but don't know how to adjust Tone etc. Can you please help and advise me. Thank you.
Can I bypass cabinet simulation to preserve my rig's tone? I read about it in the RP500, so I'd like to know if 255 and 355 models also have this feature.
Thx, man.
I may sound crazy, but distortions sound better to me than those on the Boss GT-8. I know there is much difference between them but this small thing surprised me!
Is it recommend to create presets while the headphones are connected? Or is it better through an amp?
Andy, you are a tone chameleon!
How do I change scale from major to minor on pitch shifter?!
Not really, only if you have a distorted preset next to a clean one. The only effect you can quickly turn on at any given time is the way, by pressing the expression pedal. All the other effects need pressing buttons and using knobs.
@LittleRoCK181
yes yes you can its compatible with all amps....
I'm gonna buy one
Oh man oh man.
Has anyone found any settings on this which will allow you to get creamy sustain at relatively low volume? If so please share.
wish it had a tap tempo
@NomadRonin
yes, you can bypass anything you want. I have the 155 so I assume the 255 is the same
Minha próxima aquisição.
so are your reverb settings set pretty strong on the amp? The sound is nice and big. I'm just trying to get an idea of how much work the amp is doing in comparison to the pedal.
Great pedal for beginner to intermediate players. The only thing it struggles at is changing effects on the fly in a live situation. It is really good for recording music, I've owned this pedal for over a decade and still use it at the moment. It's fun, but the RP1000 does what this doesn't, each effect has an on/off switch like a real pedalboard would. At the end of the day, you can't go wrong with this pedal.
Isn't this one capable of saving user presets for further convenient usage? I would like to have that option in GP generally.
@@GrafMKristo Yeah you can! So it has 120 presets, but it's really the same 60 presets x2, but the duplicated presets can be overwritten, and the original presets are always there. You can also download patches offline and put them in via the usb cable and the software. The software also allows you to have more options on editing the effects than the 3 knobs allow on the pedal.
So basically to get around the live switching problem, you could in theory, just have it to where each patch is synced to your set, and every time it calls for a new sound or effect, have the next patch ready for whatever it is, and just switch to the next preset. Sure it would take a lot of planning, but it's a possibility.
@@jameson3500 oh, shit! Sounds like a good option for a "not that professional" guitarist! I should go and purchase one - 130$ is a pretty fair price for pre-average player, I guess.
Do you think this processor is capable of procuding OK sound for a gig full of nice and drunk people?
Yes. I gigged one for years. It did a good job even when the audience was sober. I still use it, I just don't gig as much these days but I used it for close to 10 years and never had a complaint.@@GrafMKristo
Find out what amps and cabs they used on those recordings, and make your own patch using those!
It's good ear training. I just try to find one that's close and tweak it to where it sounds right to me.
Is theyre good Metal settings for heavy bands with palm muted breakdowns???
I got this today!
@Whisp201 This happened to me, and it was due to dust being caught inside the footswitch. I just took the back off and carefully removed the dust.
Is there a way to set the whammy to no effect if you press the pedal too far so Expression mode/setting is Volume Control ONLY? I tried setting the V-Switch to 0 thinking it would not turn on the whammy. It's unclear if you add the whammy and set that to some zeroed setting that that would work instead.
hey man can you explain how to change key? thanks
Very nice!
gotta have it !!!
The specs say it has a amp/mixer switch to turn speaker cabinet model on/off. Does that mean that you can use only the effects from the pedal in combination with the sound from your own amp. Because my amp has (VOX) has a pre-amp in it, I dont want it to mix both sounds all the time and I would want to use the cabinets models from my Vox in combination with the effects from the rp255, is this possible?
@1996Guitarkid I think they created the setting themselves.
the first song that comes through the pedal (on the wah demo) is bulls on parade- rage against the machine.
Does it show the characteristic of the guitar plugged in?
I'm asking 'cause I saw a multieffect pedal that has the same sound no matter what guitar I plugged in.
Aw...that looper is making me want to upgrade from my RP350. Hmm...looks like the 500 doesnt have the looper. The 1000 is maybe too much, but Id like more than the 355.
Thanks for this demo. I generally find multi-effects, amp-modelers, amp, guitar, and other item demos more useful than most of the stomp box demos. Especially the yet-another overdrive/distortion/fuzz.
Would this pedal sound ok with a distortion pedal in-front of it (boss mt2) assuming that the pedal was on a clean setting? If there would be a negative effect how much? Also would the noise gate cut out the noise the mt2 makes? I wouldn't use the built-in distortion settings very often as I like my mt-2.
A standard non-mini USB cable, the kind you'd use on a printer, will work.
They should show the amp and the guitar they use for the video.
Can I know the exact setings of the JCM800 preset, maybe even on the amp?
I'm trying to get that crunchy sound...
dude it's awesome. haha. i got mine yesterday
What is the detailed description of the "Edge" preset. I have a different DigiTech multi-effects processor that I would be able to recreate that sound with and I would really like to get that U2 sound with delay.
@radbro24 What do you mean? You can create your settings on the pedal, you select from compressors, amps etc... (If you want to bypass the Amp simulation and use the amp sound you can also do that) If you want more informations add me as a friend, and send me a pm
i heard that you can set certain effects in order so you can play gigs more easily...how does that work? like, patch library or something like that
Is the "Edge" tone at the very start of the video on the pedal when you buy it or did ye have to programme it in. I am close to purchasing pedal. Please tell me
i'm looking thorugh my "amp" section in my rp255 and i carnt find AC30 TB??
ahh the first pedal i recorded my first cover solo :)
I want it! :D
hi there nice video
What about the cubebase included to what extent you can use it, i presume it is just a demo version then you have to pay to unlock full use of it am i right ?
many thanks
i have this, deffenantly worth the money!!
How do you switch from a tone to clean?
@FEAROWNAGE its called dc/ac
Does anybody know in which year was the RP255 built? The manual has a date of 2011 but I see that this video is from 2009, I can't seem to find any more information online
You know how to hear the sound when you're playing live? I know you have to set the default sound to microsoft gs wavetable but I couldn't find it. I can play it on my pc live and ehar the playback if I record it, but I can't hear it live
Is there any way you can make the video with some tones created plugged directly into the computer for those of us who don't have an amp?
thing looks pretty complex for adjusting the effects, are there tutorials for how to use it?
Just ordered one for my trombone \m/
does anyone know if this sounds good when recording? this is the main reason im buying it.
If you want to lower the master volume and save it, how do you do it ?
