The old ones gives you a nostalgic feel, either if you've played minecraft alpha and/or beta, or if it just sounds right to you because you've probably heard it before.
I remember how I was amazed as a kid when the update where the TNT got a better sound effect and more particle effects released, I was amazed that it actually sounds like a detonation and shortly after you can hear the rubble settling, but now I wish I could get the old sounds back
The only one I genuinely think is better is the old TNT sounds. Obviously I'm nostalgic for the old sounds but looking at them critically the newer ones are more realistic and diverse. But that old TNT sound is genuinely better.
its removed due to female players using female skins, so they replaced it with a "bone breaking" sound to make players gender-neutral. maybe mojang should add another "ooh!" sound for the alex skin model (introduced in Official 1.8, not Beta 1.8) and the old one back for the steve model
The old sounds bring back memories of the way MC servers used to be. You could find servers where you could just build a house and chat with everybody online and make friends. Everybody helped everybody else out and it was just like a community. Now it's just mini game servers and if you do find just a server where you can build whatever you like, you just end up getting killed or griefed. No need for grief protection or cheat protection in the old days. It was just a better community where people actually connected.
Old Minecraft walk on block sounds are a bit scary for me because it's similar to the block punching sound. That's why I always freak out on PE lol But i like the old hurt sound though, so i took the classic hurt file from the MC assets and put it to a text pack lol
Nostalgia aside, I believe the old sounds fit the game a lot better. The graphics are lo-fi, so it makes sense that the sounds should be lo-fi as well.
Hey, this sounds is good, but i think need more precise with Falling damage &... I think... With lava, because lava in older versions (like an Alpha or a Beta) Dont have any sounds.
The funny thing here is, this newer version is more suited for pvp as hearing ugh all the time can be very distracting. As the old one is more suited for pve. And now they decided to revamp combat, which is now more suited for pve than pvp.
