  • Clamshell lighting is when the photographer uses two frontal light sources to illuminate the subject, helping to minimize shadows and often giving a glowing effect. In this episode, photographer Aries Tao will show you how to start your advanced clamshell lighting setup and shoot amazing images.

I really appreciate that Godox has started to produce videos that have some educational content! I also think they could be even more helpful from an educational point of view if the not only showed what it looks like when everything goes well, but also covered the most typical problem people are likely to run into when trying to replicate what is demostrated in the video.
For instance, how will the result be different when using a much smaller, or larger modifier? What happens if the light is placed too high or too low? If the lower ligth becomes to strong? Etc., etc. :-)

Hi Karsten, thank you for the comment. I will try to organize one episode to address the modifier question in detail. Stay tuned.

In the final edit at the very end, what was your process to make her skin glow so radiantly and smoothly?
