Thanks. Where do you place the jack stands? I realized I have the jackstands under the front part of the control arm and must move them. I bought crow feet sockets about 10 years ago and removing the gas line nuts from underneath the fuel tank will be their first use.
Hi. I remember hearing something to that effect, but I can't say for sure. Recommend you post that question on 914world.com and the braintrust will come through...
Hi. It's just a bearing separator I got at harbor freight. It's not very heavy-duty, but fine for the force needed in this situation. heres a link: www.harborfreight.com/large-bearing-separator-3979.html
Got my suspension out from under the car - finally. When I had to replace the rubber grommets on my Civic’s rear suspension I did what a Civic racer on UA-cam did; I poured gas in a reject aluminum pot, lit it and - carefully put the metal ring and rubber grommet in the fire. After several minutes I heard the expected “crack!”. Then I covered the pot to extinguish the fire, pulled the stinky rubber and metal ring out then pried the rubber loose with a screwdriver. Was quite easy and fun for a pyromaniac wannabee.

Put the front jack stands under the donut jack points behind the wheels.
Where is a safest place to use the floor jack?
@@jockellisThis thread should help. If you google "914world" and just about any question, there's a wealth of knowledge....
Great video thank you - how long did you heat the arm to strut bolt. Worried about cooking the ball joint…
Needed 5 minutes with propane. Less with MAPP. But each bolt is different. I would replace the joint while I'm in there anyway....
Ian, is it correct that the 69-73 911 wishbones are interchangeable in the 914....if the torsion bars are also 911?

Did you get thicker torsion bars? I’m putting in M21 sport bars - at least if I can get these off.
I re-used the stock ones, after smoothing out any ridges and painting bare spots
What type of clamp is that you used on the press? And did did you find it?

far be it from me to question what seems to be some fun with fire, but I'm not sure exactly what cracked!
Ian Karr Frankly, I’m not either. But suddenly the rubber came out easily. Now if I could just get my cat out of my lap.
Oh, where did you go to college in the South?
