I think I'll devote paralogues to a classic pastime of mine: etymology! Arthur and Percy get their names from the legendary King Arthur Pendragon and Percival, one of the Knights of the Round Table. Arthur may have recieved his name due to some of the unfortunate events revolving around Arthur in many tales, such as his conception and his wife's love for another man - Lancelot - leading to great strife and eventually the death of Arthur. Percy's namesake is instead the first to be associated with the quest for the Holy Grail, likely tying to the character's fortune. In Japanese, however, these two have rather different names. Arthur is instead named ハロルド, Harold. He is most likely named after Harold Godwinson, the last Anglo-Saxon king of England. He was known for a streak of misfortune, most infamously having to face the invading William of Normandy a mere three days after defeating the Norwegian invaders led by Harald Hardrada. At the Battle of Hastings, Harold fell, and the Norman Conquest of England begun. Percy's Japanese name is much less certain in inspiration. His name is ルッツ; Lutz, a diminutive of Ludwig or Ludger, the former of which means "famous warrior", which matches well with the superhero inspiration of him and his father. As for specific namesakes, there are a few possibilities, though none I'm very confident in. There is Alois Lutz and his famous Lutz jump, the second most difficult jump in ice skating. With Percy taking to the skies, and the Japanese verb for flying also meaning "to jump", it's not the most farfetched thing, especially compared to other names in the series. Further in line with the hero imagery could be a reference to Carl Lutz, a Swiss diplomat stationed in Budapest during World War II. He is accredited the saving of over 62 thousand Jewish people through to his negotiations with the Hungarian government and clever usage of his position. However, neither of these I feel encapsulate "luck" in the same sense that Harold does for "misfortune". If anyone has a better idea, please let me know! Lastly is the mother for this happy family, Effie! Her name is a shortform for the Greek name Euphemia, meaning "well spoken" or Eftychia - amusingly meaning "good luck". Unfortunately I fail to find any specific influences, possibly Empress Euphemia of the Byzantine Empire, who was recorded as being a slave and barbarian before her marriage to Justin I. Alternatively is Saint Euphemia, who was tortured for worshipping God in secret after her city was ordered to sacrifice to Ares. She had to endure punishments far beyond the other Christians she was caught amongst, and was said to have been killed by a bear after the lions intended to kill her did nothing but lick her wounds. In Japanese, her name is エルフィ, romanized as Elfi or Elfy. This is a diminutive for Elfriede, meaning elf-strength. In other words, superhuman strength. Pretty accurate to our armor knight here. As far as I'm aware, there isn't anyone notable to be a namesake.
This is really great and all but to add on (over a year later), Effie's Western (and possibly Japanese) name is also almost certainly partly inspired by how you sound out the letters "FE", as in the initials for "Fire Emblem". The games have done this joke before, most notably with Feh from well, Feh, but also Faye and Fae

I'd guess that a script was written, a rough draft of gameplay recorded, voice-over done using gameplay as reference, and then a second final copy of gameplay is made using the attenuated recording (or segments thereof) as reference.
Previously I just recorded the gameplay while trying to make sure I indicated what I was doing visually, and then I would watch the footage while writing my script, noting the timings for basically every paragraph. This time, I realized I could record two audio tracks during gameplay: one from the game and one from my microphone. That gave me something like a rough draft for the commentary script in my live recording. Even though I still rewrote most of my live commentary in the end, I was able to use it to do some very precise synchronization with a lot less difficulty than before.

Tell me Zoran, this is an entirely unrelated question, but I was wondering iyo why Ninja Laslow feel so... Underwhelming ? He has direct heart seal access, decent bulk, good tech, good stength, can reliably sol tank, and can even befriend keaton to grab hp+5 (or gamble which on Laslow is probably better than the other fighters) while in his hero training arc. I tried it myself and yeah it felt Underwhelming but I couldn't know why. It sounds like a killer combo! Also. I watch your videos in the good times and also in the difficult, or even downright terrible ones. They always end up in the highlights of my day regardless. Thanks for making true Strategy p*rn!
He tends to want for strength, speed, and defense all at once, and it’s difficult to cover those needs simultaneously. In comparison, Silas is usually substantially stronger and bulkier (accounting for skills) with about the same speed; Soleil can often be better than Laslow in all three areas (depending on mother), if not quite as strong or tough as Silas can be.
I wish the game let you look at support points and crap in the game. I suck at keeping track of the points you gain in map, and I play on a real console so it's annoying transferring the save data to pc to check the real value for the support points in FETwiddler
Their mediocre movement combined with lack of ranged weapons that can double, aside from Master Ninja and Butler/Maid. For example, in GBA Fire Emblem the Hero used to be a great class, and many recommend to promote Gerik into a Hero rather than the mounted Ranger class. This is because they have great stats all around and could double with the hand axe. Fates Hero has good physical stats for sure but they cannot double at range unless they use a magic weapon. And aside from Corrin, Felicia or some meme setup like Hero Nyx, those weapons are not going to help a Hero at all. That being said, infantry physical talents like Samurai or Merc can still work on Corrin and units like BR Hana and Hero Selena can still work if you really wanna use them. Just don't expect them to be as dominant as a Master Ninja or a Malig Knight
@@gabrielclamens3151 Pretty much so. Camilla smashes enemeis with her good physical strength but when fighting an armored unit or when she needs more accuracy, she can use a tome just fine. In Rev it's a good idea to pair her up with Orochi/Hayato and have her kill the promoted generals and she can do that by flying over the river. Malig Knight is also the only non dlc flying class that can equip the spirit horse, which is free +3 speed/def/res/skill. It's an amazing weapon. And of course, the bolt axe which has 14 attack, higher than Siegfried/Raijinto. Malig's only true weakness is speed and that can be easily fixed with pair ups, tonics and meals. And of course, trample. Trample gives +5 attack against non mounted enemeis. In Conquest that's everyone and in the other routes the final bosses are not mounted anyways. Rev has many infantry enemeis, it loves Great Masters (Lance+Staff class), Ninjas and Snipers. Corrin, Elise, Camilla, Kana, Leo, Sakura, Hayato and many more could stay in this class just fine. And even physical units such as Scarlet, Beruka and Peri wouldn't mind getting Trample
@@maverick5169 What about archers ? Also, magic weapons do give you -20 avoid, while it doesn't make them useless, going to careless with it might be dangerous no ?
@@gabrielclamens3151 Archers are usually 2 range locked and smart use of dual guard can nullify a lethal arrow. Sure you can't go ballistic but that doesn't bring Malig's viability down

@@elgronequequeriabailar I think Keaton and Mozu normally got paired up in his earlier videos, and they're… also the only ones not accounted for here.
Thanks for the info
In comparison, Silas is usually substantially stronger and bulkier (accounting for skills) with about the same speed; Soleil can often be better than Laslow in all three areas (depending on mother), if not quite as strong or tough as Silas can be.
the babyrealms are so stupid. i love it
I forgot how dumb the deeprealms were as a system to justify the child characters lol

I wish the game let you look at support points and crap in the game. I suck at keeping track of the points you gain in map, and I play on a real console so it's annoying transferring the save data to pc to check the real value for the support points in FETwiddler
honestly i like deeprealms more than time travel
So there's a patch to have voices in FE Fates ? Pretty neat
What's wrong with melee infantry ?
@@maverick5169 I see, that's interesting
What makes the malig knight so good ? Being a flying mixed class ?
I do know the power of ninjas though
@@gabrielclamens3151
Pretty much so.
@@gabrielclamens3151
Archers are usually 2 range locked and smart use of dual guard can nullify a lethal arrow. Sure you can't go ballistic but that doesn't bring Malig's viability down
