In your practice round you played an approach shot into a green and i said to you 'gr8 shot mr woods' and u looked at me and said 'thank u very much young man.' Stay humble, stay healthy, dial in ur mental game and u'l win again. Nothing quite like the old golf swing vids of the T-2000 Golf terminator though. silky smooth! I call this the young hungry lanky tiger era. He was scary good. Saw him play at the PGA championship at Valhalla in 13 ( I think it was 13 anyway) when he was struggling post affair and back surgeries and he still had crazy effortless power. Big tree in the middle of the 18 fairway and a lot of guys either fade or draw around Tim. He just blasted driver right over top of it.
Give Tiger his 975d steel shaft driver with his Harmon swing and he'd be winning tournaments left and right. These gigantic nasa engineered drivers are ridiculous
Would have to disagree that his swing under Harmon was the best. Butch’s changes to his swing lead to many of the injuries Tiger sustained. Tiger won everything in sight during this period because he was better prepared physically and mentally than his peers and because of an incredible short game, especially putting.
What exactly caused the injuries under Butch? What motions in the swing and what injuries? I would say his biggest injuries were from Foley era with hip restriction and massive extension.
to all you hackers out there...the best swing won't make you any better, it's about putting and short game and Tiger was the best in those two areas...as he said "I had to grind every time I played"....
I will never understand why he thought changing his swing was a good idea. He was dominating golf, he made it look so easy at times. I mean cmon, he won the 2000 US Open by 15 shots!! Yeah you read that right, he won by 15 at the US OPEN, not some rinky dink tournament. The US open course is usually the toughest track they play any given year. year play with Augusta National is in top 3 toughest courses they compete on they play all year 15 shot victory? Sick.It still blows my mind. Im pretty sure we all know about the 1997 Masters, a tournament he won by a mere 12 shots, no big deal. I mean did Tiger think to himself "well, i am completely dominating golf, putting up astronomical numbers, endorsement dollars flowing in, I think Ill change my swing now." blows my mind to this day
when he switched to hank haney he told him that the move with his left leg that butch harmon made him do led to a 80% tear of his acl. He had to change his swing to keep his knee healthy..unfortunately his navy seal training and heavy lifting messed up his body anyway..
That’s insane right? He beat the other 155 best golfers, at a major, by 4 shots a day, for 4 days. Ok 3.75, that’s the closest anyone got. People can talk about the next big thing, was Tiger better than Jack, etc.... mark my words we will never see winning margins like that ever again. Even 5 shots is a crazy win these days
Well he also putted out of this World at the 2000 US Open. He swung great under Butch and Haney and even won with Foley but In my opinion the Foley swing was over thinking and not so great. I think over training and running also may have contributed to his injuries. Might be a far out opinion but his doctors and surgeries may also not have helped. Sometimes the body can heal naturally with out surgery. I blew out my knee bad mogul skiing hurt a few years never went to the doc and its fine now. Tiger Still I think is the best to ever play competitive golf and he is still not done yet.
That take away wasn’t the best, lots of hand rotation. The best p1/p2 is 2013-2023, square to the plane. Haney eta ‘05-‘09 some of the best irons and wedges.
If pro v1 never comes along with regulations for the shafts.. He have 25 majors..more even. Driven by competitive nature. Distance ...courses longer players need Distance. The changes partly were due to his inquiries though, especially the back.
Swing changed. His brain stayed the same.
Without the injuries we would have stayed with just one swing.

this is my home course. the course has changed a bit since 2002. i remember well when tiger was in town.

Another thing he did in 2000 that he doesn't do anymore is in 2000 he didn't stand over the ball for more than 3 seconds.
not just the swing, but his physical slight flexibility frame, he fkd himself putting all that muscle and weight on

he changed his swing drastically before he won the us open by 15 in case u forgot. he always wanted to get better.
he never thought along those lines at all. he saw flaws in his game and tried to better them...
