You need to scrap the center transfer box and install a pair of electric motors instead: a single motor drives each side. Will cut down on weight and reduce power lost through the transfer box. Also simplifies the controls.
Motor and transfer box is probably not much lighter than 2 motors, more prone to failure than 2 motors and outputs a lot less power than 1 motor. Based on those facts, and history, Rich will almost certainly choose to keep the transfer box.

There is online calculators that will calculate the torque/HP of the motor based on the two gears and chain and motor HP/Power specs, and will tell you what the RPM and evertying is expected at the gear. So that way you can pre-calculate all your sproket loss and if you are sending too much power, or not enough and adjust your gears until you are optimum.
Love Rich and the channel but damn its really gone down hill w/o Stevon. Will continue to watch either way(unless the ads get out of control and the content continues to decline) but its extremely sad to see 2 guys who work so well together end like this....just a loss for everyone.

On my Attex I had room to mount the motor above and slightly to the rear of the transmission which left plenty of room for batteries behind it in the bottom. Initially I used Odyssey AGMs but upgraded to 16 100ah CALB cells. I also used chain drive at first but switched to belt to eliminate lube being sprayed around from higher RPMs, chain stretch, and noise. It's been over 10 years and still going strong.
There is clearly a lawsuit going on between Rich and Stevon. If there wasn't, we would hear a lot more about stevon. He has been swept under the rug for a reason.
The ideal conversion in my opinion would be to go for two (or more) electric motors to drive wheel groups independently. You could discard the transmission clutch system, and manage the steering by controlling motor power individually. You could even add a steering wheel with a digital encoder, and with a bit of coding, convert steering and throttle inputs into the required motor outputs.
Really miss Stevon in the videos just not the same without him. Being that nothing is being said about the accident by Rich or Stevon one would have to assume there is a lawsuit going on and first thing your lawyer tells you is shutup and don't say a thing. So Rich and Stefon

Ditch more of it. Have a motor per side, or a motor per wheel. Perhaps hub ones, so you can seal the axle holes and just have wires pass from the inside of the vehicle to the wheels somewhere above the water line.

On a first robotics team and this is exactly what the majority of teams do, even with a couple small motors it's more than enough to go like 15 mph

That sprocket on the engine output shaft is a CVT pulley. Same goes for the input shaft on transfer box.
