  • Hello everyone!
    Well, it has been quite some time since I made a video. My channel has gone through a bit of a revamp and is now representing my private business: Celtic Homestead. My goal is to reawaken in a consumer society the love of creating and to show just how easy it is to make things.
    This first video is a tutorial to teach everyone how to make the most popular item on my etsy shop: a chapel veil! I am very new to making tutorials, so please excuse any poor audio and inconveniences caused by my early attempts at mastering this new skill. :) I hope you all enjoy!
    To see more from Celtic Homestead, visit any of these links to begin an adventure, whether it be viewing classic art paired with literary wisdom from sages past on my social media, reading the informational and/or creative pieces on my blog, or browsing my Etsy shop for hand-made wares. Celtic Homestead also has a Patreon page, so if you are interested in supporting, please drop in to visit!

    Thank you, thank you so much.
    I want to start veiling again, and I’m looking for a mantilla as the ones I used when I was young. I can’t find them. Or something similar is very pricey.
    You are a God sent. Because now I’ll go buy the lace in the colors I want and then make them.
    Thank you sooooo much!!!
    May God Bless You!!

    This video inspired me to get some lace and try it out, but sadly the lace I ordered form Joann I didn’t realize has no scalloped edge! Going to see what I can do but I appreciated the simplicity of the technique you showed and the hand sewing!

    I am brand new to sewing but I want to learn. Could you show how to sew a clip-comb into a veil? Thanks!

    • @annaberlinger9295
      @annaberlinger9295  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! I think sewing a clip in would be fairly simple. Just find a small one you like, double up some thread that matches the veil, and hand tack it into the inside.

    I would like to make this for our Fidelis troop. How would you make a "f" to sew into the backside?

      Thanks for your interest! That's a beautiful idea. Embroidering lace is a whole other skill that I have yet to master, but you could definitely do it. I would recommend searching for some basics in embroidery, getting a strong embroidery hoop, and maybe checking out some professionals to get inspiration. A friend of mine embroiders chapel veils for sale, so maybe checking out her videos would be a good place to start so you can see all that is involved. You can find her on social media or google if you search Saecula Saeculorum Design Veils. God bless.

    And what about the edges that are neither beutifully cut or hand sewn? I do not understand. How does it like the finished work? It is not possibly to see it complete in the images. Pity.

    • @annaberlinger9295
      @annaberlinger9295  2 роки тому

      Hi Gabriela, Thanks for the comment! Yes, the veil was difficult to photograph, since I didn't have a high quality camera at the time of filming this video (basically just used my phone). The color makes it difficult to see the finished result, but I can guarantee it is beautiful.
      It is true that I did not hem the cut edges of the lace. This project was meant to be a simple one for those new to hand-sewing. However, due to the nature of the way lace is woven, it did not fray. Lace usually doesn't and tends to hold up well, despite raw edges. I still use this same veil, and it has held up nicely for about 3 years.

      Yeah, that's what amateur photographers are best at! God gave me far better gifts in the realm of sewing than videography. Glad you made your own!

    Can you please tell me the final measurement of your beautiful veil? Thank you!

    • @annaberlinger9295
      @annaberlinger9295  2 роки тому

      Hello Marikita, Sorry for only just seeing this comment.
      The final measurement really varies, depending on what size you initially cut the fabric. I don't have it with me at the moment, but I believe it is about two feet long (from top of head to chin area) and a foot and a half deep (front to back). Those are rough estimates. If you were cutting fabric to sew it yourself, you'd need to double the length measurement, so you can sew the circle.

    • @annaberlinger9295
      @annaberlinger9295  2 роки тому

      Edit: I just noticed I actually wrote the measurements at the end of the video. So, since the piece of lace I used was 4 ft. by 3 ft, the final veil is 2 ft wide (circumference of the circle hole) and 3 feet deep (front to back).

    ??? How to make a chaple veil video and no measurements??
    Bizarre

    • @annaberlinger9295
      @annaberlinger9295  Рік тому

      There are some rough measurements mentioned, but it really depends on the type of lace you get. The goal is to cut as little as possible and to follow the netted weave of the lace. A decent size estimate though is either two pieces that are each 2 feet by 2 feet or a 4 ft by 2 ft piece, doubled over. Again, depends on the weave of lace you have. Draping will be the easiest.
