  • Updated video: How to Make the Best Mushroom Liquid Culture Lids
    • How to Make the Best M...
    In this video i demonstrate how to make self healing injection ports for growing mushrooms!
    I still use these lids everyday because they are so cheap and easy to make.
    The lids will rust after continuous use which will not negatively affect the liquid culture. I would replace the lid after the rusting gets very bad.
    Lids can be soaked in cleaning solition and re used.
    Can withstand dozens of punctures!
    Tip: to prevent pieces of silicone from being broken off by the syringe needle and introduced to the liquid, try injecting at an angle and not straight down.

    Love your paper punch hack for the holes.
    I've been drilling them and the burr can be a pain to clean up.
    If you push lightly from the inside with the wet paper towel on your very last massage of the RTV blob you will get a nice raised convex area exactly above the whole.
    Like a Bull's Eye for the syringe needle.

    • @SporenSprout
      @SporenSprout  Рік тому +9

      I’ve made a very large number of liquid cultures like this and I’ve never had a problem. 2 pieces of 3M tape works everytime. Just make sure to keep the jar high off the ground. You don’t want a bunch of dust settling on the lid. You can wrap a coffee filter around the lid for extra dust protection if your room is dusty. The cool part about this hobby is that you can do whatever works for you, so feel free to experiment with whatever is easiest for you to access.

    Have you ever tried just injecting through the paper tape and immediately covering the injection sight with another piece of tape? This seems easier in my novice rookie brain.

      Micropore tape before cooking, remember your aluminum foil. Protects the lid from moisture. It doesn't hurt to do two layers of tape. I always do, make a little x.

      Aluminum foil over the lids during cook. Keeps the steam off of the lids. Your tape will be fine.

Probiert es aus!I have Baggies ..have no Gummiports.Became this Idea!!!
