We had a loud whining noise coming from our heater. I watched a bunch of videos like this, and none of them correctly identified the problem. The problem was that the model of heater we had was fitted for natural gas, and never converted to propane, which is what we have in our neighborhood. We got the conversion kit and switched it to propane and now it works without the whining noise. Unfortunately UA-cam did not help me this time.
Thanks Craig, great video. I am having issues with the water column dropping from 14 to 4 on a 1yr old mastertemp. Does this mean I need to replace the gas valve? Heater works great, however it seems to short cycle sometimes, especially when the water temp gets above 95. Thanks!

Craig - was there any idiot light sensor led illuminated for this particular failure?
