Greater fame??? Underrated???? Edward G. and Stanwyck were two of the most famous and durable stars of their day, still remembered years afterwards for their talent as well as their fame: they both got honorary Oscars and Stany got an AFI achievement. Kay Francis I would agree is well included as a big star who was forgotten, but certainly not the former two I've mentioned.
What an incredible video! It's so refreshing to see these underrated stars finally get the recognition they deserve-especially Glattus Cooper. Her work in Now, Voyager was truly unforgettable!
FYO: Gladys Cooper was nominated three times. Barbara Stanwyck four times. Irene Dunne-five times. Cary Grant-twice. There are many more that sadly were not acknowledged.
This video makes a fair point. It’s not that these stars were not famous, they were but they were overlooked when it came to winning Oscar’s and in some cases even being nominated. It should be said however that Kay Francis destroyed her own career, the others didn’t.
Gladys Cooper was the British beauty of her day. Her affect on fashion was monumental - one night at a soiree she held her right evening glove in her left hand. The following day all ladies of fashion copied the act and a fashion was set. She was also very kind to fellow thespians. Rita Hayworth was quite nervous upon meeting the experienced theatrical cast of the film Separate Tables. Gladys spoke up in front of everyone after the first table read: "Rita, we have so little experience in film. Can you help us?" Hard to believe she was known for her kindness. Edward G Robinson wrote a biography All My Yesterdays which is masterful. He was also a much praised painter.
This is a sloppy video with many errors. Many actors identified as that getting the recognition is ridiculous. You also show photographs of actors not matching ego you are talking about.
All of these actors were stupendous. I enjoyed their performances in movies. I loved them. Maybe these actors were so important because they filled a niche that wasn't a "Hollywood Star" .
Dame Gladys Cooper ❤ also as Henry Higgins’ mother in My Fair Lady ! Didn’t feel Dana ❤ Andrews’ Where the Sidewalk Ends as a B movie. Edward G. Robinson ❤ is such a darling Gran’pa in Our Vines Have Tender Grapes ! Robert Montgomery❤ is a frightening vilain in Rage in Heaven opposite to George Sanders ❤ who is a good guy (it’s very rare) in love with Ingrid Bergman ❤. Greetings from France 🇫🇷
Man ! Surely, they could have found a natural blond for Double Indemnity or a better designed wig. B.S. was totally miscasted. F.M. will also be the human version of Droopy.
AI voice inability to use commas correctly is annoying. Also - when you are talking about Dana Andrews and Gene Tierney, you show a picture of Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake. Who’s putting this together??
No matter who her co-star may have been, including Davis, Hopkins was never overshadowed by anyone, her gracious style, her presence, her voice and articulation of the language. She worked with Davis in two films. People must have waited impatiently for her to come on the screen to give them a break from Davis' overbearing mannerisms.
Right!! Since the feed is about stars that have been rather left behind, which obviously happens with most...except Bette Davis, of course! My 17 yo coworker knew exactly who Bette was, which was really a surprise given her youth. I wonder how distant of a look I would have gotten by mentioning Miriam Hopkins?
I think it hurt her that she looked so much like Lauren Bacall or (maybe vice-a-versa) . In any case , I think Bacall was the go-to star, but if they weren't able to get her they would turn to Lizabeth Scott....She was great...
@@alpha-omega2362 Just one of those sad coincidences for her. But fame isn't all that it's cracked up to be, I'm sure. Fame certainly cut Princess Diana's life short and she was about the most famous and respected person around when she died so young.

Dana Andrews and Joel McCrea... Wrong. Both were good actors....nothing special about either one. Both had limited range. Watch their pictures. They do good jobs. Nothing more. IMO.

I loved Gladys Cooper and she was a superb actress.
Sure was!

It's an AI video. Catch the way he says "Now.....Voyager." I'm outta here.
Edward G Robinson is one of my absolute favorite actors. They don\t come better.
I wish you would get the right pictures of the performers. Lauren Bacall is not Lizabeth Scott nor is Alan Ladd Dana Andrews
Thank you. It is beyond irritating.
Edward G was the tops . A highly cultivated man speaking 6 languages .
What an incredible video! It's so refreshing to see these underrated stars finally get the recognition they deserve-especially Glattus Cooper. Her work in Now, Voyager was truly unforgettable!
Edward H Robinson's performances in Scarlett Street and All My Sons are incredible.
Ida Lupino could be added to this list too!

The picture you showed of Lizabeth Scott as a model was actually Lauren Bacall. She also started as a model in NY.
Love Barbara Stanwyck
"And nobody's pulling out. We went in this together and we're coming out at the end together. It's straight down the line for both of us. Remember?"

Would Jeanne Crain qualify as an actress who deserved better renown than she received, for her undoubted talent?
More like a glittering array of leading lights than a bunch of underrated performers. This is ridiculous.

Many pictures are not of the stars being discussed!
Lew Ayres should be added to. The list of underrated actors.
You were not there.
Edward G. Robinson was HUGE. Greatly respected. THEN....not now.
Same with Charles Laughton.
My husband and I don't think Lizabeth Scott was a very good actress. We agree with the rest of your picks.
Man ! Surely, they could have found a natural blond for Double Indemnity or a better designed wig. B.S. was totally miscasted. F.M. will also be the human version of Droopy.
They could have found a natural blond and don't call me Shirley.

“Four Daughters”??? You’re showing a poster of “Four Wives” that had John Garfield in it.
🤔🤷♀️
Humphry Bogart and Lauren Bacall

Whoever made this video is very misinformed about actors and their reputations. Somebody failed to do their homework!
Betty Davis a gtear Actress
Not so great that you spelled her name correctly...And NOBODY has ever accused her of being underrated.
Dana Andrews and Joel McCrea...
Wrong. Both were good actors....nothing special about either one.

Watch their pictures.
They do good jobs.
Nothing more.
IMO.
I dare you
