- In this video, I show how to update the firmware on a Yamaha Home Theater AV Receiver. The model used in this video is the RX-V581. However, this process works with many of the Yamaha models.

Awesome video! I just updated my RX-V681 to 2.65 and realized the update removes vtuner internet radio and replaces it with Airable radio.. is there anyway to go back to the previous firmware? or can a factory reset restore previous firmware?
I don’t have an answer for your question. Your best bet is contacting Yamaha support. They will be able to assist you, or at least answer the question if the firmware can be rolled back. I have never attempted a rollback, nor have I had anyone ask to roll back. I don’t believe a factory reset will roll back the firmware. It will just reset your preferences and settings. I wish you luck. Keep me posted.
Hi, I have model HTR-4071 , in stereo the music plays without bass. I can't set it up. But in a movie where the effects are a blast, for example, it already has bass. Only when I play music so no bass. Don't know what to do?
Not familiar with that model. The only thing that comes to mind is to check the preset EQ setting when in stereo mode. Aside from that, I suggest you contact Yamaha support.

I gave you a thumbs-up.
After doing this method, it gave an “Error 2.”
Receiver Would NOT turn back ON normally.
It shows “Update Failed” each time I press Power Button.
Any inputs?

1) "Version Error."
2) Volume only goes up from15.5 to Volume Max.

Hey Tony, I have a Yahama 475 receiver, it try’s to update but errors out in the process. Any fix for that??
Hi and thanks for commenting. So hard to say without actually being there and seeing what’s happening. How many versions behind is your system? It’s possible that you have to upgrade the firmware is incrementally rather than jumping from an old version to the newest version if you’re several versions out of the loop. If that’s not what’s going on, then I would strongly suggest you reach out to Yamaha support. They’re pretty good about helping out with things like this. Good luck and keep me posted.
Quik Tech Solutions L.L.C ....I ended up fixing 2 things. I was able to download the firmware to a thumb drive expanded the and made sure it was in the root directory, and was good to go on that. On another subject getting the yahama software “yamaha av controller” to work I had to use a static IP. The DHCP wasn’t working. I just use the next IP available and was good to go with that.

I receive the “update success please power off” message and turn the power off. When I turn my receiver back on it displays “update failed”. Any ideas?
Can you please tell me while updating if there is a power failure will the system be bricked?

Try downloading the firmware file to a usb stick, then run the update from the stick.
How do you update with a usb?
So for this you have to go to Yamaha’s website. Locate the correct firmware for your receiver. Download the firmware onto your USB drive. Plug the USB drive into a USB port on the receiver, then initiate the firmware upgrade from the front panel using the setup feature. That’s the overview. For exact steps on how to initiate the firmware upgrade, refer to your owner’s manual or contact Yamaha support. Have a great day.

Thanks for commenting. I’m not really sure why you’re receiving the error. You can also update the firmware using USB under the Advanced Setup menu. If this method fails as well, I suggest you contact Yamaha support.
