You say this is such a joy. People who don't play VR won't understand the visual difference and the feeling you got in VR headset when simracing. I played Assetto Corsa in VR Norschleife 2 laps mulitplier going from evening to morning. What a treat. I was watching replay in VR and it was amazing. You can sit in the car as a passenger end enjoy as close real life race as it can get. When watching replay on flat screen it looked like Toy Cars are racing in track. That is the difference.
That is so true, I tried to play a racing game in flat, it is just a waste of time, so VR killed every flat racing game for me :D so, yes, very good that there are so many cool games out there.
This is exciting stuff! I’m really hoping this will become available to the regular Crystal. DLSS is not available in most VR titles and often times it looks terrible or offers little gains. This Pimax Upscaler seems to be impressive and a valid option going forward.

@@insomnyawolf looks like there will not be support for the Crystal. They said they are adding this to include everyone, including those with a lower end GPU. And that the OG Crystal has DFR and eye tracking which is irrelevant IMO if they are wanting to include everyone. Even with DFR and eye tracking, there are tons of games that don't have DFR and are in drastic need of a performance boost. The upscaling would be a huge help for Crystal users as well. It makes no sense to me unless there is some sort of software conflict or issue with it and eye tracking or DFR.

On your FPSVR overlay, your "SteamVR Resolution" stays the same all the time, are you running a older version of FPSVR? Mine changes, shows 4 different bits of information one of them being the exact resolution..... In my G2 it will show, SteamVR res 100%, Default Res (I think) 100%, Global res 100% and then 3160 x 3092. I would love if you could display this on your FPSVR when you make a video, it would give us a idea as to what the real resolution is since each different HMD will have a different 100% resolution depending on their panel res and optics (distortion profile?). Great video again, still waiting for my PCL, taking a long time (ordered May 31).

But then again, FPSVR is a SteamVR (OpenVR) app, so that shouldn't make a difference since it's getting it's info from SteamVR?
@@liebesmaennchen I just tried this using my Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop and you are right, if using the monitor screen of FPSVR then the resolution information will only show 100%. You would have to use SteamVR's feature to mirror to your monitor and set FPSVR to a static location, then the VR version of FPSVR would appear in your videos. Thus you would be able to see the resolution setting change between the 4 options.
Fantastic!! very importantly how do the colors and brightness compare between the crystal and the Psvr2?? I own the Pimax 8kx and the Psvr2 with PC adapter And I am amazed with the colors and brightness, contrast psvr2 OLED provides though it is not as sharp as my 8kx. I am on the verge of buying the Crystal light.... So your opinion is very important to me.
I like the PSVR2, but Mura kills the immersion like I said in the video. I love the colors with the crystal light and you can tinker with the settings, also you are able to use openXR Toolkit to tinker even more, but as always- my opinion counts nothing, you have to test yourself. Feel free to come to my office, you can try the crystal and the crystal light yourself.
how the anti-aliasing is configured in AMS2’s performance settings? For example, setting MSAA to high can be very demanding, just like reflections and the environment map. It would be great if you could test it in bad weather conditions, not just in sunny weather, as that’s where the performance impact really shows.
Hi! in AMS2, everything is set to ultra. I know that MSAA is very demanding, but I don't want to see any flickering in the distance. I will wait for the new 1.6 Update, otherwise it will not make sense, and I have to do it again. Which GPU and HMD are you using for AMS2?

Right now, it is too early for me to say. Yesterday it was just a quick test and then I decided to make a short video, so that the world can see what will come soon. BUT I like what I saw and maybe, we will get also 120hz mode upscaler.
The problem is that this method is downscaling and re-upscalling already super sampled images. It doesn't make any sense, which is why no one but pimax has ever done this.
So they are downrezing a supersampled resolution to 2160x2160... and then upscaling it to 2880x2880? Why not just upscale the supersampled image to an even higher resolution and then downscale that to 2880x2880 directly? It's like we are going down, up and down again, which is probably why the image looks terrible.
Don't look terrible in my opinion, are you sure everything is set correctly? On the German discord, we had good result, some users unfortunately getting some green lines in the display
@@critical_mass8279good, you would have a quite good experience with this gpu. What games are you playing? Because with Msfs or dsc and some racing Simulations, you can't have enough power. Even 4090 is not good enough 😢

don't be. I tried it on my crystal light and it doesn't offer any visual improvements instead of just running the lower resolution directly... The same resolution without "ai upscaling" looks sharper anyways... which is probably Valve never implimented anything like this into Steam VR.
It is working very well, I don't use openXR because it is not so comfortable with FPSVR and openVR Eye Capture, but I know a guy, he loves to tinker with openXR Toolkit Settings.
So how much was the quality degraded going into upscale mode? WOuld it be more beneficial/clear to just drop native rez down a bit or do you see yourself using this?
unfortunately, it is too early to answer this, I liked what I saw, but it was only 1 game and a short test with the UEVR Mod and Hellblade 2. So, my plan is to collect more hours with the upscaler and then I can give you better feedback. Right now, I'm happy, that it is just on / off and nothing to tinker with
In 8KX, with RTX 4090, I can run 90hz max cars (I think 32 cars) on Daytona with openwheeler such as Formula V10 Gen 2 with a resolution of something like 3100x2800 native. It looks to me like it is impossible to do the same with 90hz w/ Pimax Crystal Light? I am seeing you can only run 9 cars at 2880x2880 and yet you can't even get up to 90hz? This is bad and you have RTX 4090. Why are you running supersampling at 100? That's too high. I don't remember maximize it....I haven't been playing AMS2 lately. Also, the frame rate that you're getting all depends on other factors in the game settings too such as how much grasses, crowd, lighting, particles, anti-aliasing...ect... When you're testing...it's important to know that when you're alone on the track and no cars are around you....the frame rate is always higher than if there are cars around you. Therefore, it is important to test with cars around you to get a real assessment of the frame rate.

I would love to see this with also using open composite and empty room which free up a lot of vram for the graphics card

So tempted to upgrade my quest 3 to a pimax, but not sure if the extra cost is worth the gain?
You will see 80% more pixels immediately, it is so sharp and clear, also local dimming is such a cool feature. Which GPU are you using right now?

Like I said it the video, it was a short test. Normally I run the game with 72hz and max. Details and everything with 100% resolution
