    If you leave the machine for any reason, disengage the tool. If you walk back to it and tripped and fell, there may not be anyone around to help and I doubt the ambulance would get to you in time.

    I an a 6' Brush Wacker bush hog for 7.5 years mounted a 6500 Ford tractor- it would cut most anything up to 3" in diameter and mow grass like a giant mower down to 1.5" tall - i put about 800 hours on that equipment in that time and never had a problem - except when i found a 3" pipe sticking up out of the ground in 4 foot tall nut grass and ruined the blades but thats one of the hazards of running a hog

    You need a metal detector so you can SCAN old fence and property lines for buried\hidden objects that will screwUP your mulcher !

  • @garytreible8950
    @garytreible8950 Рік тому +8

    You might want to invest in a cheap metal detector. It would have found the pipe and the wire and you can cover a lot of ground fast when you do your walkthrough.

    I have to say, comparing your work to other UA-cam "mulching" videos, I can appreciate your efficiency of well thought out work patterns, machine handling, ground-grooming, end results. I believe you & I are on par with our positive OCD'ness! 😊

    The property is looking so much better, Davin! Great job!
    Quite a few people are planting clover in bare areas rather than grass because it does grow and spread quickly, only needing a short trim every few weeks. It’s green, lush and truly comfortable to walk on. I bet any nearby wildlife would like it, too. 😊

    Interesting technique, is when mulching a largish tree trunk, is to keeping the mulching process continuing while the revs are dropping much lower than in other presentations. It chews off large bites. And visually. Completes the work in fewer passes. Probably in less time as well.
    Well done young man! keep your chin up!

      Everything that gets mulched grows back. You have to maintain that property if you want it to be different. Mow it every two weeks, and add lime to help the mulch break down. 2 or 3 years from now, you could have a nice yard.

    At 3:00 I'd bet that's a piece of well casing that was cut off and tossed in the bushes. They can be very useful for various things, like putting an air pathway under a burn pile so you can hook up your leaf blower and make a blast furnace. That one would still work for that purpose, you'd just have to lay it with the hole in the middle down in the dirt. Nice vid!

    Suggestion when reconning brush clearance sites EOD and DEMINING crews use Whites ( Brand name ) metal detectors to uncover metal objects . They use same sort of machines to accomplish your tasks . Unfortunatly for EOD running over something metal could be catastrophic ...........It would cut down machine damage for you though . Whites detectors are light weight and easy to use a little on the high end for cost though ......

    That chicken wire is an instance I thought the case drain line was meant for. So if the drum stops suddenly the oil has a pressure relief to keep from blowing seals. I agree with all the other people saying it. You need an electromagnet and sweep the piles first to rid them of metal. Come to think of it a neodymium magnet the size of a dinner plate would work.

    That machine eats it into the ground with no stubble so no flat tires awesome equipment. That thing would be great for deer trails, property walking paths, brush clean up is going so smoothly. Basically cutting composting time's down by 15 to 20 year's an it's great for the land to provide healthier growth. Amazing price tag is scary.

    So I have been watching several of your videos now and listened to you talk about hitting things you did not see, in this case the big wire bail that almost messed up your cutter head.
    Have you ever considered mounting a camera to the top of the motor housing, so you can have a camera monitor in the cab for you to see hazards that you might no otherwise see?
    Just thinking maybe a Go-Pro in a Lexan Housing mounted to the steel Hydraulic Motor Housing, Maybe the same type of setup for your other cutter head(s) too so you can hopefully see the hazard before you hit it.
    I don't do this type of work, so at this point its just a question as I do not know if its feasible, just thinking about equipment safety and preservation...
