I just learned they keep the left engine in mil power so that smoke is visible, otherwise the AB would vaporize the smoke. One of the pilot's was explaining this in a maneuver debrief on the BA youtube channel.

I noticed at 6:01 the #5 solo lost AB on #1 engine... That hindered his performance for the rest of the show and why he landed early (at 15:00 mark) towards the end while the rest stayed up a little longer
Yep. I noticed that immediately. I've seen that happen in a live airshow demo at the homecoming show in Pensacola some 25 years ago when they were in the legacy Hornet. It was very interesting because that one of them, can't remember which wing (2 or 3) in the diamond, quickly landed then jumped in the demo two-seater VIP #7 in a fast turnaround and rejoin. But he had to land immediately from a lost engine. There was white smoke not airshow related.
Well they have to be, because the USAF gets first dibs on the latest high tech designs in military aviation. This is a long standing Pentagon and Congress thing. The USN has always had to overprove themselves in piloting skills on a carrier. Nothing new about that. The USAF? Ho-hum land on a 12,000' concrete runway at your discretion. But I will say this: the enemy on the receiving end of an AA missile or AG bomb doesn't care what pilot is behind it or what branch of service and platform of it came from.

Actually, they aren’t. They appear slower because they are 40% larger than the legacy Hornet. Kinda how jumbo jets look like they are barely moving during takeoff, even though they are traveling at 150+ knots.
