Just looking at the fit and finish of the F-35 tells a lot. It is the most advanced technological machine in its designed, structure, and electronics. Its taken everything we have leaned from previous fighters and taken it to the next level. This includes the F-22. I believe the F-35 is superior in every way except power, speed, and very low speed maneuvering. This only makes sense being that the F-35 is made by the same manufacturer as the F-22 with 10 years newer technology. The difficulties and delays the program has experience are expected when you are pushing the technology to the limits. All of the hard work is paying off and its only going to get better over time. I believe that our adversaries are way behind us. Even though they have produced fighter that look very similar I don't believe they are nearly as capable. They are likely lacking far behind in the most important strength and that is the avionics. This is evidenced by their inability to produce super cruise capable engines to date, something we have achieved in 1997. Considering all of its capabilities it is a tremendous value when compared to legacy fighters.

The heavier su-35 has a smaller turning radius, and the flat controlled corkscrew is really controlled. On this maneuver for the f-35 was scary... he really could have fallen.
Not really from a physics standpoint..... Were you talking about nostalgia? Otherwise, its just planes flying in formation. Same rules apply no offense.
@@Rhoadie1 Yes from a physics standpoint. Most jet aircraft of previous generations wouldn't generate enough lift at such a low altitude and speed, resulting in the jet falling out of the sky. Typically the top speed of a P51 is below the stall speed of a jet.
@@Douganchesner We don't know what the F-35's stall speed is, further landing speed is entirely different to maintaining flight at low altitude without stalling. Landing speed for most fighter jets is in the range of 130 - 140 knots or 155 - 160 mph and that F-35 isn't configured for landing, the gear is up.
The entire body of the F-35 is a lifting body. Hence the upward nose snout. The shape allows for extreme angles of attack and very slow flight without dropping out of the sky. Lifting bodies were first tested back in the 50's during the X-plane era.
solngv8 ?? The body of the a/c has always generated lift. Nothing new or sensational in that. This is a heavy sluggish slow reaction a/c. Compare with basically any other modern a/c. Okänd Soldat you are almost too stupid to be alive, you are commenting in a video of 22:22 minutes about the F-35 executing the combat maneuvers of the previous legacy aircraft that will replace, yet, you still saying that the plane effectively can't do that...
Yup. Same thing with the P-51, Spitfire, P-38, F-4, F-14, F-15, F-16, F/A-18, Su-27, F-22, etc... Every legendary fighter in the past had a design flaw or was heavily panned/criticized before it could really prove itself at some point.
Well, now just need a training battle with the SU-35 or SU-57. Russians every year offer to take part in their international war games AVIA DARTS. US refuses every year.
@Buro Dackel while long wave radar can *detect* stealth fighters, it will struggle to track them and certainly won't be getting anything close to a weapons lock. Meanwhile, the F-35 can launch a missile which will take out the radar site from 50+ miles away.

@@derekchildress5 the f35 has better avionics and sensors and is better at air support. It's a strike fighter as opposed to an air supremecy fighter. The helmet is much more advanced as well. But I like your baby f22 comment it totally is
Derek Childress - I wouldn't call the F-35 a baby anything because it is an absolute BEAST at what it does. You have to remember that F-35 was built for a different role than the F-22. The F-22 was designed from the start with NO expense spared to be the greatest AIR SUPERIORITY fighter the world has ever seen and it succeeded at that. The F-35 comes out around 15 yrs later and was designed from the ground up to be a STRIKE FIGHTER, which means it's main purpose is to penetrate enemy air space and attack ground targets. That doesn't mean that it can't go out and dogfight by any means. Both aircraft have the most advanced avionics in the world, but the F-35 just has more and is better. The F-35 also acts as a mini AWACS and in some cases is better than normal AWACS aircraft because of how advanced it's technology is in it. The only real advantage the F-22 has over the F-35 is it's speed and maneuverability but the F-22 has that advantage over every fighter in the world lol.

@@alessiussa4184 F-35 (like any other stealth) is detectable by VHF band radar. And F-35 is the least stealthy stealth plane, even Uncle Sam admits it. The only problem is how to guide missiles towards it, since VHF band isn't accurate enough for that purpose. But knowing it's there is already half the work done. F-35 has nothing going for it except for stealth and sensors. Its performance is rather miserable - it's slow, poor climber and lazy turning fighter-bomber. Its payload capacity is also very low. With only 4 AIM-120s maximum it's going to have a hard time in an all-out war. Once it's out of missiles, it can't escape due to low maximum speed. That's not a problem for USA that usually fights with at least 10:1 numerical advantage. But a small country that operates 10 F-35s would suffer the numbers game IMO.
Petar Banovac The f-35 was never meant to be an air superiority fighter; therefore, if an f-35 gets in a dogfight, then something has gone horribly wrong. The purpose of the f-35 is mainly meant to be a manned weapons platform and an electronic warfare hub, none of these require it to dogfight. Leave the air dominance role to the f-22.
The A-10 requires an uncontested air space to operate. It's a sitting duck to anyone who wants to shoot it down. F-35 sucks, but at least can operate with impunity in contested air space.
Neightrix Prime To be honest, all close air support requires air superiority. F35s aint going to be flying in with wings full of bombs unless the F22’s/F15s/Hornets have cleared the sky first.

I like how the elevator wobbles a bit at the end of that sharp turn, dampening it perfectly. There's some tight computer control keeping that stable... I'm always fascinated by that side of fighter design.
You know what's really shocking? You go to an airshow and they show you those supposedly crazy tricks with the last generation fighters. And then a guy in an F-16 comes along and does the same stuff. This is a bit like car demos where they drift around corners. Just for dramatic purposes. In the end it's boom & zoom. You have to be faster and able to hit from a greater distance. Dogfights and tight turns are for movies.
But unless the f-16 is close enough to see the f-35 it would be shot down without even knowing the F-35 was there. F-22 rapters have taken on as many as 5 F-15s in mock combat and shot them all down without a loss That's the advantage stealth gives you. PS when every new generation of fighter is built they tell us that dog fighting is dead and every time it's proven not to be true. At least the F-35 and F-22 have a gun.
@@johnkendall6962 Agreed. As I said: Hitting from greater distances - that's the progress. As for the gun... are you hinting at the F-4? Dogfighting is dead as soon as the one with the greater range of fire can outrun the opponent.

Ideally the best way would be to shoot before even getting into the enemy's range but the best plans always fall apart soon as combat starts

Great camera work keeping the focus locked. A well-designed aircraft and one that showed just what it can do maneuver wise, especially in the hands of obviously intelligent pilots.
I was a little skeptical at first, like many were, however I've definitely come to appreciate the f35 just as much as jets like the raptor and eagle.
I just think with the cost of the F-35 we may as well have the Raptor which is much more capable. NOW I do love the Eagle and it is still a pretty awesome aircraft. F-35 my verdict is not in due to the cost for what we get in capabilities.
If the F-14 had as much funding and development as this thing, they would be flying into space.
Justa Commenter Undoubtedly the cost may not be worth the jet we got, only time will tell though.
what are you talking about?..the cost of the plane has come way down per unit and this plane can do almost anything the raptor can and just about all of what an eagle can and more.
@@justacommenter4361 But we're going to sell a whole lot of Lighting IIs to our solid allies, that offsets a lot of cost. We will have many as well. With each added jet the unit cost decreases to a tolerable average cost per plane. The Raptor is a USAF only flagship, less than 200 made but they all stay with the Air Force.

Yeah except it’s not combat ready or operational. This is. And the cost per unit is unknown (government speak for untold hundreds of millions). And this isn’t even meant to compete with the Su-57. The raptor is, and in every realistic combat scenario the raptor comes out on top, especially when in an IFR situation. The days of dogfighting are over, and Moscow seems to have forgotten this fact.

Ummm. You think a fighter jet’s stall speed is 400+ mph? Most fighter jets can fly fine at 200mph which is far below what a P-51 can do
@@Douganchesner We don't know what the F-35's stall speed is, further landing speed is entirely different to maintaining flight at low altitude without stalling.

Petar Banovac The f-35 was never meant to be an air superiority fighter; therefore, if an f-35 gets in a dogfight, then something has gone horribly wrong.
@@YTOnceAgain I know but the US has a bad habit of putting stupid rules of engagement on it's pilots like no shooting until they visualize the target. Then it doesn't matter who has the longer range. With the speed of fighters today the difference between what can see on their radars and what they see visually is only seconds. Ideally the best way would be to shoot before even getting into the enemy's range but the best plans always fall apart soon as combat starts
Just went to the Edinburgh Airshow here in South Australia and the Vice did a way better show. The F-35A taxied nowhere near the crowds and also didn't do any pilot interaction afterwards. Also the 3 plane flyby with the older aircraft was brilliant in Vic..
It does not have much maneuverability, it is f-35 flying torch, it just knows how to fly from dead to death and turn
Uu
Such a jealous hater
@варфоломей ночь So you like to listed to Russian propaganda so be it
they can’t afford to build it and it has been a failure
I always love how start up and takeoff have really cool dance routines
Awesome video and great camera work !!! Thank you SH
You know, for a plane that's stirred up so much controversy the F35 performs quite well.
This is an airshow, not a combat mission.
F-35 LOOKS HELL and VERY POWERFUL .
US sheet,ha ha.SU-57 hero!
Awesome, nice that Finland did choose these planes too to replace our aging F-18 Hornets.
For long time I was certain they would be too expensive for us...glad to see I was wrong 😆
Definitely didn't look too happy flying with the old ladies. She wants to go fast!
Turbine jets flying with prop driven aircraft sometimes have to fly at near stall speeds to let the old ladies keep up with them.
Well I say that plane has some very nice handling characteristics...
@@Vkat696 this is far from a flying brick....... SOMEONE sounds like a jealous commie! You probably think the Su 57 is a better fighter than the F-35 Lighting 2 & F22 Raptor LMFAO! 🇺🇸#1 SUPERPOWER ON THE PLANET WITH THE MOST ADVANCED WEAPONS TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS EVER CREATED BY MANKIND!
@@Vkat696 you probably eat bricks, sniff glue and huff paint! Why else would you make such a dumbass comment? 💪🇺🇸
@@Vkat696 no matter how much you want your migs to be better than this, it won't happen
17:16 - don't ever tell me the F-35 is dog again. That break was sharp.
Norm T sure, if looks mattered at all. The F35 has already shown that it’s a beast.
Norm T looks don’t matter, u know what does? Efficiency
@Norm T how do you not find this plane beautiful?
@Norm T Yea, because appearance is what matters in a fight, right?
Everyone forgets its stealth capabilities and how smart it is are the best weapon this jet possesses. Essentially it's a bomber capable of defending its self if necessary. Although there are three different variants
A very nice display of aerobatic skills by the Aussy Pilot, demonstrating that the F35A is just as agile and maneuverable as some of the world's best jet fighters. Pretty impressive was the maneuver around 11.15 where he climbed, looped, and then falling into a controlled spin which looked just like what the Russian fighters are well known for. When you consider that today's combat scenarios would take place beyond visual rang and stealth I think that Australia choosing the F35A Lightning 11 was a good move.
They gave the F35 a 25MM gun just in case a little dog fighting would happen over some sh-- hole country.
