A lifetime of fishing, and lots of photos and trophies to talk about. The one that got away at the boat, after a lengthy battle always stands out more than anything. My son was on the gaffe, and after all these years when the story comes up we can look at each other and instantly we are both back there at that moment. It’s crazy how the one that got away has made such an unforgettable day.
Legendary mate! Spent over an hour and a half connected to what would have been our first sword at the Rottnest trench in Western Australia only to pull the hooks at 27 meters. Very tough pill ro swallow. Great episode as always mate. Much love.
This is what its all about bro. Bouncing right back and digging your heels in when you run into struggles and failure is a huge key to success. Thats some outstanding persistence.. love it.
Swordfish are mighty critters. Back in the days of cyalumes and primitive electric reels, I battled a few times. Your videos bring back the sights, sounds, and even smells to this presently landlocked soul. Thanks brother.
Brutal. Low sun angle, prop wash, surface boat wash, and a long fight in a soft mouth. Been there... some of those fish get big for a reason. My stomach was turning, and i wasn't even on the boat. Add those beam seas every 180 degrees and ughhh... It's tough to keep appropriate drag in those situations. Great video, as always. It just happens. Makes for a long quiet ride home sometimes (but every once in awhile...the fish has to win... keeps you coming back for more.) Redemption tastes good. Keep living the dream, sir. Its unconventional, but in those low sun angle situations when larger fish (whether swords or giant BFT,) keep diving at the boat and then burning down deep, I have had success with scoping out down-wind/current after dialing down the drag... then going for the end game again when positioned better with a less green fish (I know...we all have our own way.) Thanks for sharing the video. Awesome.
Think the good lord was watching over you two 🙏 I was sooo bummed for yall and thought the video was over but then the money shot Hail Mary 😂. What a roller coaster of emotions
Much needed break after this day of boarding up. Sarasota isn't looking forward to Milton, man! Hope it doesn't turn your way either! Cant wait to smash this pizza and watch
I grew up in Sarasota and my brother lives by Bee Ridge and Cattleman. I'm worried about him. They live in a 2 story house that hasn't flooded before but the intersection of his street and Bee Ridge can flood. His girlfriend's dad lives upstairs and I doubt any of them will evacuate. Of course I'm worried about my friends down there, and the place itself. I am very happy to hear about Midnight Pass opening up from Helene, it's the only good thing from the storm I've heard of. It's hard to imagine anything good coming from this one that's coming. I wish you luck! I'm not religious but I'll do my version of prayers for y'all. Cheers from Virginia by the Chesapeake Bay.
I love how the process of boating, measuring, dehooking, and getting that short sword back in the water was a manner of seconds, not minutes. So many people would take so much longer and drastically lower his chance of surviving and growing to an absolute monster. Great work guys! If you see this comment and remember next time you film some swordfishing, could you show a little closer how those line snaps you use to secure/remove your weights work?
yall know who this man is? he is key west waterman aka the bob ross of fishing he's a great dude and a great fisherman who provides food for his family
So glad to see a swordfishing video!! I’ve asked a few times with many others, excited to watch. Thank you for the content as always and I wish you and the family good health!
That's exactly the kind of a lemon caper sauce you would get in a fine dinning restaurant, WAY TO GO MADALYN!!! IT LOOKS OUTSTANDING!!! GREAT VID AS ALWAYS AARON. THATS WHAT FISHERMAN DO, NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!
I find you giggles during the highlights in this to be exceptional. Also this is a VERY good down and dirty on daytime sword. You make it seem so simple although I have only tried once myself and after a boat ran over our only rig as it trailed behind the boat to untangle and took 600 hundred yards of braid we went home dejected.
I feel your pain Aaron, but epic battle. Had a similar experience about 6 weeks ago up here in the Northeast with a big bluefin. Every time he saw the boat he would make another run and like you my stomach turned with every head shake. He finally spit the hook. We second guessed ourselves too, I'm sure just like everyone else who's lost a big fish but in the end those things you "should have" done could have also lost you the fish. At least your persistence paid off. Well done. One more thing, props on your boat driving. Folks who have never been in this kind of situation can't understand how important that is.
Awesome video. You win some, you lose some. Glad you finally got one in the boat to eat. All the best from Alaska. STAY SAFE DURING THIS INCOMING STORM.
How's the halibut fishin'? I'd love to catch some! I fish for flounder all summer in the Chesapeake Bay. The biggest one I caught all year was 20.25"..
@@comfortablynumb9342 Nice flounder. Haven't been out as much as usual, but came home with fish every time we went out. Being raised in South Florida, I really miss the lobster, grouper, and snapper though. All the best to you and your family from me here in Alaska.
@@jimdavis2113 cool, I grew up in Sarasota. I miss snook fishin'! But I still fish all the time in the Chesapeake Bay in VA. Mostly for flounder, redfish and trout. I caught about 20 little trout this afternoon.
@@comfortablynumb9342 Awesome on the trout. I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale. Used to do a lot of rainbow trout and salmon fishing, but age and disabilities kind of limit me now. Catch a few for me.
Stay safe down there, got Milton bearing down on us here in Central Florida as you know. Hope you guys are OK. God Bless. Look forward to another great vid after the storm leaves!!!!
Amazing the chunks on a 58" Sword versus something like a 58" Cobia. Also, clearly bled, versus what you find in the stores with massive blood lines. Great Vid!
Those steaks are fantastic on the grill ! Super exciting to watch imo.. there’s some really big fish I lost that I’ll never forget. Watching the fight with the big sword the wave action was putting my heart in my throat ! When they get close in those conditions the wave will throw slack in the line and the hook falls out !
These swordfish videos are always really cool to watch. They're such strange fish. And so tasty. I think if I was out there I'd definitely try to catch mahi mahi and stuff while I waited. Maybe even chum for smaller fish. Anyway thanks for sharing your adventures.
Just made it down to summerland for fall break but there’s been awful weather you know but gonna try to spearfish tomorrow morning in shallow waters if it’s not horrible tomorrow
We daytime up here from Miami to delray, I know everyone has their diffrent things they like to do but we have found if you see that bite we like to hit bottom and let it sit down there for about 20 seconds and 8/10 times we load up when bringing the led back up. Give it a try and see if you can get better hook sets on the fish
Had my stomach in my throat fighting that BIG sword, and practically got sick when it popped the hook. This was the best video I've seen from you (maybe you have better ones that I haven't seen). Makes me just want to suck it up and pay the pony for a good charter who'll take me swording up here in Boynton Beach. Anyone know/trust a good/skilled Sword charter up here?
Those outcomes haunt me for ever of the big ones lol. Good try I have lost my fair share of giant blue marlin over 800lb and big yellow fin over 200lb!! still bothers me of the what if I did this or that!! Great video as always!! Hope I can get to your level of subs one day..... Not sure about there but in Hawaii the marlin bite has been insane great most blue marlin I seen around all year consistent ever!! last 4 half days we hooked about 10 its been unreal. Glad you ended up putting meat on the deck thats all that matters in the end. Aloha Adam
Aaron and Madeline…be safe guys. I think you’re going to dodge a bullet. Sorry for my family and friends in Tampa and Venice. PS…your content is second to none.
