Lauren just seems to have such a beautiful spirit. I think there is a certain temptation to expect a different vibe from a pastor's wife but she just exudes grace and Godliness. I pray their marriage, family and church is strengthened and that the cancer is kept at bay.

I shared this story to a patient (I work in the medical field .He had almost the same thing that happened to him turns out this patient repented before The Lord and accepted The Lord in his heart and life. These stories are powerful. Thanks for sharing!

I don't really intend to be particularly mean here but if that chap had died she'd still be expected to be sitting there saying how wonderful God is. Does that not give the devout any sort of pause for thought?

That is the extremely challenging nature that is embedded in Christianity. The foundation of our faith is that "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," Romans 3:23
but also that Jesus, God's son, lived a blameless life. A sinless life and was tortured and put to death on the cross of His own will. Jesus embodied the sacrifice for all of mankinds sins and took God's judgement for it.
It's a big question that you've asked which is probably why nobody has answered it. A good Christian would praise God for having being given life and giving thanks that we are blameless in God's eyes. Having said that, that alternative situation would be heart breaking and any person would be devastated by that. I haven't been through it and Im apprehensive when I will go through something like that. But I hope that I would be able to sit there and praise God even at my most miserable moments because He paid a price that I could not hope to pay so that I could get to know God.
The book of Job is a brutal book in the bible that is worth reading if your interested. I would also encourage anybody to get to know a pastor as the bible is very intense, and is difficult to navigate. A humble pastor with years of studying the bible would be able to discuss these sorts of questions in a way that is easier to understand then this one post that I threw on a youtube video.
