    There have been more complete players. But few have scared the hell out of his opponents like Bernard King.

      So true. He never gets the recognition he deserves smh he should have made the 50 greatest of all time let alone the 75 greatest

    Bernard King - Greatest Offensive Player the Knicks ever had.

      Kevin that turnaround baseline jumper. No one did that like him and he was an incredible fast break finisher too. I cried as a kid when he blew out his knee.

      MrAitraining I was a showtime lakers fan, but BK was my favorite non-laker, probably should've won mvp that year, and was and is a class act.

    King is the greatest offensive player I ever saw in person. PERIOD. Bird and Magic both said they couldn't guard him

    Before Jordan's "flu game" Bernard had a "flu game" and that with 2 dislocated fingers.

      I believe this was slightly better because of the 2 dislocated fingers . Not to many people talk about this . Jordan’s was in the finals which made his stand out more . It would’ve been great to see Bernard King play in the finals. I think not seeing him on that grand stage and some of those knee injuries that kept him out 2 years , is the reason people don’t talk about him more in the great ones category as he should be talked about . This man’s career numbers are staggering.

      One year he was clearly the league’s MVP but they gave it Larry Bird so he can be only 1 of 3 players to win it 3 yrs. In a row joining Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain as the only players do it

    Bernard King was one of the greatest basketball players of all time and is even in the hall of fame but how come he is left off the 100 greatest players list? Makes no sense to me!!!

    • @andrejones3562
      @andrejones3562 2 роки тому

      100 greatest list hasn’t come out and I wouldn’t be surprised when it do come out they leave him off it smh, I think of at lest 6 or 7 players that shouldn’t have made the list give this man the recognition he deserves while he’s still alive

  • @Equint77
    @Equint77 11 років тому +4

    He should go into the hall in a knick uniform. His greatest career highlights happened in NY. The 60 point game on xmas, the back to back 50 point games and that epic 5 game series against the pistons.

    I could listen to hubie brown talk about bernard kings game all day. Even a brief chat during the okc game sunday was simply amazing. Congrats to bernard king on a well deserved HOF election.

  • @romanesq
    @romanesq 11 років тому +2

    Hubie was a great Knicks coach and squeezed out every bit he could from his teams. Too often, he was a little short on the talent to get over the top. At the end of the video here,you can see he wished he had a full squad of his better teams but they never were reunited.
    It's obvious he wishes he had them back. I remember well how they took the Celtics to a Game 7. They played their hearts out.
    Bernard King the only thing you can say is he played with explosive fire power. Congrats!!

  • @GialloHorror

    Man, I wish Bernard King and Ewing got to play together. As a Knicks fan, that would've been so AWESOME! I was 8 years old in 1984, and just started watching The Knicks. I loved Bernard King. Unfortunately, he blew out his knee, and I never really got to see him in his prime.
    This guy is one of the most UNDERRATED players in NBA history! I mean seriously, how the fuck is this guy not in the HOF? He scored 19,000 points, and averaged 24.1 PPG in his career.

  • @LetsGoMetsGo33

    I don't know why this brief era isn't celebrated more. King was the best player the Knicks ever had, but his time takes a back seat to the Championship teams of the early 70's, and the Ewing-led also rans of the 90s.

  • @GialloHorror
    @GialloHorror 11 років тому +3

    Yes he is. I was so happy to see that. If he didn't have that major knee injury, who knows what he could've done. That happened right in his prime.

    Bernard was Jordan before Jordan. He was the most unstoppable player I have ever seen next to Jordan. This man belonged in the Hall of Fame 10 years ago. It's disgusting how he's not in there. Pippen, who wasn't half the player BK was, is in the Hall. #BKNY

    • @Johnkoth

      Bad comparison.
      Bernard King was a better shooter and had way better post moves.
      Played SF also.
      MJ used a fadeaway very good.
      Bernard King had a quicker jump shot release.
      He led the NBA in scoring Only 1 time.
      MJ defense is way better too.
      The early version of MJ was his Older Brother Larry Jordan.
      Who MJ copied his moves and style of play.
      His brother was a great Highschool basketball player.
      But was Only 5ft 9ish.
      He could dunk like MJ too.

    At the 10:54 mark you can hear Bernard King shout 'Oh shit, oh God!' when his knee went on that play. I repeat myself. It is bad enough Bernard lost two years as a result of that injury. What is worse is he lost two years of his prime(As did Bill Cartwright with his foot woes) One can only imagine what Bernard and Patrick Ewing could have done together.

    Lebron James would get embarrassed if he played with the legends from back in the day.

    • @morganlee1995
      @morganlee1995 8 років тому +4

      He wouldn't get embarrassed in any era. The true greats could've played at any time and thrived. LeBron is one of them. King was a better scorer than LeBron, but that's it. He would've been an excellent forward in today's game, too, though.

    • @devvv4616
      @devvv4616 8 років тому +1

      yeah he'll prolly lead the league in scoring. only one that could match his scoring would prolly be KD or regular season curry

    • @hoopsheavenpa
      @hoopsheavenpa 8 років тому +4

      Lebron would still be a star, but he would struggle big time coping with that era's physicality. He'd get bumped cutting and guys like Robert Parish and Bill Laimbeer would not be content with him dunking.

    • @devvv4616
      @devvv4616 8 років тому +1

      Still lebron would still e a physical freak. with barkley's power and isiah thomas's speed lol.

      @hoopsheavenpa 8 років тому +2

      +PUGE “PUGEPUGEPUGE” BUY No doubt he would be the best athlete in this 80s era. He'd also make headlines everyday due to whining and bellyaching about the more physical play. Back then flagrant fouls, which lead to ejections in today's game, were common fouls.

    Isaiah - 16 pts in 94 seconds, I did that math and if he could've kept that pace for the season he would've averaged 480 ppg. That's 443 more ppg game than Jordan's highest season avg of 37.

      He had World Free at GS. But World was never too keen on giving up the ball. Why Sixers let him go after like 3 yrs. Never accepted Dr J & Doug Collins should've gotten the ball too.

    These are some great power teams in the East. Scrappy style of plays. Trash talking in your face. Players today would not survive playing during the 80's. What's an air foul, a breathing foul or a touch foul? Bird's Celtics and Isiah's Pistons would make the NBA players today quit bball forever. Only the strong survives.

  • @JimmyNYQUINO
    @JimmyNYQUINO 11 років тому +3

    lmao....Pippen was a good player. Minus Jordan, he wouldn't be in the HOF. Bernard King was a far superior player. If you put King and Pippen next to one another battling for a rebound, King would snare it. He was WAY stronger than Pippen. Dribbling and passing were modest skills Pippen was better, but King didn't need to pass and he didn't need to create off the dribble for others. King on the Bulls would have meant an extra rings for Jordan.

    • @Johnkoth
      @Johnkoth 4 роки тому +2

      Pippen is better at defense than Bernard King.

      Bernard King has 34 yrs old when MJ won his first Championship.
      The man could not have made the first 3 peat.

      Pippen and MJ duo had 6 rings.

    • @Johnkoth
      @Johnkoth 4 роки тому +2

      He is faster than Carmelo, passes better and has more moves.
      Better defense too.
      Carmelos go to thing was his middle range isolation that people try to stop him from using.
      He had stronger arms than almost every SF and could over power his defender.
