Congrats! I think my worst story must be when a full keg leaked out in the brew shed. I had to go and get a dehydrator and run it for weeks. The dehydrator pushed the temp in the brew shed up to around 40c. So I took that opportunity to brew my first sour. And that beer turned out great. Brewed a beer on a ginger bug. So when God gives us lemons let's brew a sour!
I've been super fortunate. The only erroneous brew was when I tried to make NewToHomebrew Tom's Coconut ShyPA. The beer turned out well, but it tasted er, OFF. Like Yak Butt. I was crushed, I so wanted to make this beer and LIKE it...I even made some awesome labels for the bottles. Alas...terrible brew. I figured it out, months later. I used COLUMBUS for bittering, not Cascade. It had 4 times as much bittering as it should have. I'm still drinking those...occasionally....wincing. Congratulations on 2K! Cheers, everybody!
OK, not sure if I am late to the party but here is my story. When I first started out I bottled in a small basement, actually in the laundry room. So one day I was bottling a beer AND doing laundry. We used to buy laundry detergent in these large containers that had a spigot so we measured it with a measuring cup. This container was across the room, my bottling operation was exactly between the laundry detergent and the washer. I remember thinking after I pored the exact amount of detergent don't walk near my bottling bucket, where the beer was. So I walked near the bottling bucket anyway, stutter stepped and as you can guess I rocked the measuring cup and a blob of detergent came out of the cup and right in the middle on my beer......I bottled it anyway, never served it to anyone even though I did not taste the sweet mouthfeel of Tide.
