    (Update) Recently as I was researching topics for another video, I came across the Psychology and Sociology Question breakdown - tested questions will be (65% Psychology, 30% Sociology, 5% biology) Hope this helps :)

    Very helpful video! I had a question, can one take the mcat without having taken a organic chemistry course? I intend on taking a prep course which covers all the organic chemistry content needed for the MCAT. Any advice on how to approach MCAT studying without having taken a organic chemistry course? Thank you in advance!

    I had a classmate in an astronomy class that 90% looks like you! He had a brother in Mcmaster MD... There is a good chance you are the brother :D Anyway, thanks for all your videos, they are amazing... Thanks a lot

      Aha that's awesome! I'm almost 100% positive it was him then 😅 we're both pretty big astronomy nerds and we get it pretty often that we look alike.
      But no problem Nazil. Glad they helped :)

    Hello Gianluca! As everyone is always saying in your comments, THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking time out of your busy schedule to share your journey to med school with us! I had a question regarding your MCAT prep. You said you just needed one semester of organic chemistry. Does this mean you just took ONE organic chemistry class that contains a lecture and lab component? Thank you!!!

    • @nxtgenmd
      @nxtgenmd  4 роки тому +1

      You're welcome :) It's been great hearing from everyone.
      But yes, that's exactly right. I only took 1 semester of organic chemistry that included a lab component. The second semester probably would have been helpful for the MCAT, but I don't think it's necessary. I was able to study that material with khan academy videos and MCAT prep books.

    Can I take MCAT just after graduating from high school aged 17.5?

    • @nxtgenmd

      Very interesting question! Had to look this one up for myself just now and as it turns out, you can take the MCAT after high school - although almost every message board that I could find online strongly advises against it. I would as well.
      The process of studying for the MCAT is a very large time commitment and the test itself is $300 to register. It is also designed so that in most* cases, the scope of the questions could not possibly have been covered in high school. You learn a lot in university compared to high school and rushing that process isn't worth it in my opinion.
      If you would like to take a free practice mcat to see how you'd do though, you can do that here : www.princetonreview.com/medical/free-mcat-practice-test#!practice
      also the MCAT is entirely done on a computer - from your other question :)

      Dude do it. Because 4 years through undergrad you wont remember crap anyways and your brain will be damaged from all the stress. So just study for like 6-8 months dedicated and you will def get a good score.

    Is it possible to start studying MCAT content even if you are not yet done 3 years of undergrad study and be prepared? Like say you wanna start freshmen year of college are there resources that teach all the content from scratch? Thank you

    • @nxtgenmd
      @nxtgenmd  3 роки тому +1

      Yes there are! Study book series like Kaplan and TPR actually break everything down from scratch. This is why students who come from a program outside of a STEM field (like sociology for example) can still study for the MCAT and do well. Although, you will need to study for longer if this is entirely new content for you.
