First episode : Welp i'm going to train myself. Second episode : Now. I'm as powerfull than hell. *diamond sword, netherite sword, armor, hacked potion (infinite), enchanted stuff. Asuna : Wow he is soo strong ! he's number is soooo big. Goku : Hey mister sword, wanna fight ? Kirito : ??? Goku : ???
Literally back in 4th grade my spoiled brat friend mya who wants to be every single main character to rule the fucking spotlight. Well- she was my friend for 2 minutes until she ganged up with some grill named Hailey and fucking beat the shit out of me. Then she asks to be my friend again that sassy bitch
The moment that broke me was when they skipped half of the tower to the final boss and easily defeated him in the middle of the season. There was no reason why, they just deleted all the tension and worldbuilding up to that point FOR NOTHING.
Filler is something I dread in anime, it's what makes Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece a challenge to truck through, but SAO is one anime where I belive it would have benefitted GREATLY. They always talk abt important stuff that happened between episodes which left me wondering, plus they have a damn solid supporting cast, like Klein, and Agil are so fun and I wish we had more time with them in some filler episodes.
exactly! i stopped before season 1 ended because they were skipping everything all the time that was interesting for me and instead showed boring unnecessary BS in detail like another girl falling for kirito! WTF?! :D
@@abtimus i feel cheated out of the skull reaper fight. and how exactly did asuan become vice commander of the strongest guild in the game? i also would have loved to see more of society in sao away from the front lines. there's just so much potential in both the parts of the story the plot skipped over and the concept of having to build a new civilization in a video game.
@@hollowshield2315 yep, all was just rushed to oblivion and pushed aside like it was completely unimportant but i think that is exactly what makes you engage more into a world and the story! especially when you witness a journey of the people of this world from the beginning to the end…instead we skip so many parts of world and charakter bulding and by the middle of the season the whole game and world was finnished…so it never really mattered and therefor why should i care for other games and worlds and charakters in the SAO universe?
Yes, I mean he was on a time limit and he didn't know where the log out was or if it was there but knew how to convert Yui and was in an emotional state, but yes, he should have had a completely cool head and used his amazing super speed to scroll through every option and then hack the entire system to force a logout.
I’m more concerned with how Kirito saved Yui when she was already in the middle of being deleted. He obviously didn’t cancel the deletion process, so how was he able to store all of her data into an item?
my favorite part was when you said he could have made a log out button instead of saving the code. Just imagine Asuna wakes up from the game crying over and then kirito just says 'bro she was an AI, get over it.'
He was a beta tester so he already knew the tips and tricks of the game. HAVE YOU ACTUALLY NEVER PLAYED A GAME WHERE YOU CAN FIND SOME OP WEAPONS/ARMOUR/SKILLS etc RIGHT AT THE START??!?!?
The thing I REALLY hated (character wise) about Sao is how Asuna went from a strong, bad-ass chick to a damsel in distress once she started crushing on Kirito. Fcking annoying...
Pie God trust , the only original thing kirito as and asuna is that unlike many anime couples they BOTH were strong and badass. I actually enjoyed the way they relied on each other when fighting and their perfect sync until Kirito literally became a God and Asuna became Boring
As someone who studied programming in C# CSS and javascript for nearly 10 years, I can confirm what he said in the video, It would be impossible to not only take apart the game's code and stored billions of lines of code in a few seconds, not only that but it would also be impossible to do all that and not cause a single glitch that could potentially break the game killing everyone inside it. Programming is anything but simple.
What is funny, is when you zoom in on what he is doing at the computer interface, it is obviously just random gibberish that seems like it is supposed to represent digital information. So it isn't even actual code. I don't think a human could even read what was displayed on the screen. Which makes sense, if the admins are AIs and no actual humans were accessing the code from in game.
They went wrong precisely at.... Episode 2. Episode 2 shouldn't have been the first boss. We should have seen Kirito doing his solo run, operating on the fringes, but seeing other characters, even whole groups getting wiped out, while Kirito continues on. We should have SEEN Lisabet's party building up, and then seen it get wiped out. Let us see the Moonlit Black Cats as they start, and how they end up meeting Kirito later on, so that we get a better sense of things, and have time to invest before the deaths start happening. Hell, SHOW us Kirito's memories of the Beta Test, maybe he saw a GM use one of the consoles before, and is actually SEARCHING for one of those consoles that he can access, because there might be a window where he could get an item that might get him out, or at least give an edge to someone to end the death game. Giving that extra time, would've also had the effect of slowing Kirito's rise, while we get to see the other characters really get to do some things. So we see Asuna join the Knights of the Blood Oath, and rise in power to where we see her later, we see Laughing Coffin get rolling, we see the rise of Titan's Hand, forces that will come up later in the story. Klein actually gets to do things, as opposed to.... every other scene with Klein in it.
Aincrad had so much potential, but then they had to stifle it with so much timeskips. Everything from Kirito's strength escalation, the romance plot, character devlopment, and so much more like the stuff you mentioned. It's ridiculous when you cram your titular arc that the show is all about in just a few episodes just so you can make room for another one within the first season.
@@chidori7234 For one, I would have likely stretched out the time with Sachi, built her up as a character more, have them fully fall in love, and make people believe she's a regular recurring character for a bit before viciously ripping it away. Include her and others in the opening theme standing with Kirito, basically selling that the Black Cats are going to be his regular team, right up until they get wiped, and then altered the opening to show them as black silhouettes behind him.... I may be slightly evil. Then we get the "Christmas Arc" over three episodes, where Kirito starts out barely moving (This would echo later in the fight with Kayaba after Asuna's death), until he hears about the possibility of an item that can resurrect a dead player at the end of part I, him on the hunt for the item, with whole guilds moving to secure it first for part II, with Klein and company arriving just before Kirito loses his life to the one guild, and standing in for him so he can go take down the boss, who drops just before we cut to part III. He gets the item, of course, but here, we get an entire episode of the fight, giving us a much needed action sequence where we see one of the first times thus far where Kirito goes all out as a solo player, no holding back to disguise his skill.
In my opinion it was as soon as they settled down for 2 years and got married.. ruined all kind of build up and completely changed the tone of the show
Oh god! We're working on that story arc for our abridged series right now, and we didn't fully realized just how stupid that programming scene is! We didn't think it was possible for the writing in this show to get WORSE! Thanks for pointing that out. We mostly thought this arc was shit because it did things like introduce a character only to immediately kill her off (as you said), but also because they spent a truly absurd amount of time on Yulier's exposition, despite the fact that NONE of it is ever mentioned again! *Sigh* Alright, rant over. Great episode man! Always love your analyses :)
You guys are already doing a much better job of developing character (which in turn creates dramatic stakes since we have people to care about) than the original series ever did. Thanks for salvaging a genuinely entertaining experience from the wish-granting harem fest that the anime became
Super hyped for the next one. And luckily for you, there's more content you can work on now for this arc thanks to this bit of enlightenment. I'm looking forward to being surprised at what you crazy codgers can wriggle up next.
“Everyone over the age of 12 hates this show”. Actually this was a twilight like thing. Reki kawahara made it for teenage boys with raging hormones to project themselves on this. Edit: I’m not trying to defend this show I hate it
Cant lie SAO brought me into anime, loved it BUT ONLY the first arc. Man did that show go downhill from there to utter trash. Also Japan gotta chill out with that incest.
Yeah basically the moment when they got out of SAO it went from ok to bad. It was like my second anime ever so I thought it was pretty good at the time but looking back I probably wouldn't think that now.
SAO was one of my first animes and I loved it at the time. However, the more I watched the more I was like "wtf". I still liked it, cause I thought the premise was cool and was optimistic. Once I got older I was like "yea this show sucked". I wish there would be a remake of this show with a different protagonist, kinda like ggo alternative. I like the story of SAO but I dont like how it was told.
Might be a little late but something the same but different is Sword Art Online Abridged which actually gives the characters depth/personality and is hilarious I really recommend watching it if you haven't already
Love the truth behind the story, not how it’s told! I’m guessing that a lot of books and movies are based on a truly amazing real guy, as opposed to the books and movies that probably portray him as a woman or g@y…
Now imagine if Kirito had saved a *single* guy, that would’ve made it at least mildly interesting, seeing as every single girl he’s saved has fallen in ‘love’ with him
Honestly this video made me appreciate why SAO Abridged made her death a prank gone wrong. Originally I thought it just undermined it, but now I see it was the only way to make her basic immortality and resurrection not seem stupid in contrast to her death scene
never really saw it that way, huh. thanks for the different persepctive. her "death" in abridged hit suprisingly really hard, so the "it was a prank" made me feel betrayed
They also fixed Yui's motivation for inserting herself into Kirito and Asuna's lives because they are they most fundamentally broken people she's ever seen yet still manage to have something halfway resembling a nontoxic relationship. This contradiction inspires her to get closer to the action so to speak to find out what the hecks up with that. As opposed to, you know, them being able to experience positive feelings in a fucking death game
@@hollowshield2315Personally, I thought that the fridge horror aspect of Yui being trapped and forced to watch again was pretty compelling. Plus, I felt like it added to the whole Yui being psychotic thing they have going on in Season 2.
They don't mention it in the show (I think; I've only watched the abridged version since my second pass of season 1 and first pass of 2), but there was a delay built in in case of loss of power/internet that basically let the government go around and collect all the players so that they could be put in hospitals to ensure they had both of those and keep the players alive during the years without any ability to eat. S'why Protag McDualwield wakes up in a hospital at the end of the first arc.
Mingfei D. Yeah. The Japanese took a lot of the letters from the Chinese. Sorry. I'm learning Katakana and Kanji right now, and I'd like to learn fro every chance I've got xD
For me, the romance ruined this show. They turned badass Asuna into a damsel in distress, and instead of the tension, fear of dying, and battle with monsters, the show goes on a vacation trip. Then once the two love birds are done that shit, they go back and they get out of this world. Asuna is never badass again. SAO 2 had the same problem. They had a really go start, then half way through the spirit dies off after ANOTHER sexual assault scene. This show needs to pick a direction it wants to go.
gudhaxer41343 That's right. Then after the SAO arc, they changed the arc. They did the same thing in season 2. Why can't they just pick an arc and stick with it?
There is actually more wrong with Yui than just that. Yui basically acts as emotional blackmail against Asuna. Asuna is now emotionally tied to Yui as her "Mother" and Kirito was chosen as Yui's "Father". Meaning, If Asuna didn't love Kirito she'd still have to remain with him to play the "Mother" role for Yui. Which allows Kirito to keep his harem. Which, is something a few Harem Anime seem to have done. Introduced a "precious" little girl who sees the Main Character as her 'Father" and ALL the girls in the Harem as her "Mothers". Meaning none of them can leave otherwise it'll break the "precious" little girls heart. Which they can't do. Aside from that would Yui acts as a cheat code for Kirito. Kirito has to start back at level 1? No! Just have Yui restore him (pretty much) back to what was at in the last game. She also is something that no other player CAN have: an AI assistant. Kirito pretty much goes through the game just plain cheating.
Even if Yui is a trash character it hasn't a blackmail on Asuna. In fact Asuna was the one who wanted her like daughter. Yui always put the pression on Kirito. the harem isn't even present. It is more the girls who still love him even everybody and themselves know it is useless.
Could of been such a dark anime, it kept me on edge the whole time. with the whole concept, the idea of it basically. Like when I saw that guy walk off the ledge In the first ep, Seeing it actually made me get chills... But then it turned into a harmless harem anime.
i have a little soft spot for sao, because it was the first anime my friends had me watch, and i enjoyed it. although.... kirito being able to do *everything* and forced into *anything* is kinda aids. the fairy mmo made some logic, your waifu is trapped by a creep that wanted to uhhh ya know, to her. and of course him being a creep, the ai got his creepiness, with all the sexual assulting. of course, the entirety of all of the fairy world, fucked. them removing the "you could LITTERALLY die" aspects, fucked. THEM MAKING KIRITO STILL GO INTO FULL DIVE TECH, WITH UNREAL PTSD! ABSOLUTELY FUCKED! dude should be living the fucking life, and be charging big money to even touch an mmo, but nope. hes just invited into top secret areas with insane risk, and threat levels, for what seems like free. and of course, no one dies because the plot armor is thicker than a snicker.
When did it start sucking? During the first when Klein was all "Want to be bros and go on cool adventures?" and Edgerito was all "Nah I'm going to time skip and one hit everything with a harem of lolis :^)"
Sword Art Online is basically about a gamer who got a bunch of girlfriends while playing a game, and for some reason Kirito and his girlfriend meets a little girl (an A.I actually) and thought of her as a daughter while they lived together in a game. Kirito and Asuna were around the age of 14-16 as well so the unrealism is quite high.
@Champa since when are gamemasters able to view and copy sourcecode and create new Items, also why were gm accounts in SAO when there were never any moderators or admins
It's amazing how much the abridged series looked at this, basically said "I agree" and instead of getting rid of it, they made it make sense (for the most part). I mean, let's be honest, it still doesn't really explain how Kurt (or actual Kirito for that matter) could save Yui as an in-game item and have it flagged to be "saved to his NervGear" (why is this even a feature unless you want cheating to occur?). But, now knowing that Yui was faking it, it makes sense how he was able to access the data without some or all of it being locked or just plain missing already. It also fixes the whole "only two that love each other" problem, helps them develop their character, and much more.
@@Depersona244 i think they killed him, not just to become a sword, but to remind kirito, that theirs a bigger threat than saving that world, but he has to save his waifu, which he will do, because thicc anime plot armor ftw
Totally Nameless literally said why 10 minutes into the show. because the would send a signal to fry your brain if you tried to remove the gear. There was no log out on the menu either. so idk why I gotta explain this. maybe anime fans are trash. I watch got 3-4 times to get all the details and y'all can't watch a show for more than 10 minutes without thinking there are plot holes. you gotta finish a show before you can comment on the entire plot. then rewatch and make sure your plot holes are actually plot holes before you look like an idiot online.
Victor Unger Oh my god, you moron. Kayaba said that people would die if their avatars died OR if anyone from the OUTSIDE REMOVED THEIR NERVE GEAR. They also couldn't just cut off the power cause the nerve gear had an internal battery that would also fry your brain if the power is cut off. Now, if people wanted to get the players to the hospital, which they would really need to cause they would need to be provided nutrients from outside otherwise they'd die anyways, it would be almost impossible. So, Kayaba gave them a time lag. After like 15 minutes of running on its internal battery the nervegear would kill the players unless it's connected to a power source within the time limit. LOGGING PEOPLE OUT DOESN'T KILL THEM. That's why Kayaba removed the log out feature in the first place. Kirito could've restored that since they'd actually found a GM console and could access the source code. And didn't YOU see the anime? Kayaba logged out the 6k remaining people after Kirito killed him. HE LOGGED THEM OUT. I'll say this again, logging people out doesn't kill them. If you got to end of the show without knowing this, you have no right to call someone else an idiot.
Kurose Ryōta yes logging out doesn't kill them but it was impossible to log out. the release of the game didn't have it. only the beta did. Any method of quiting the game short of beating or the system logging them out would kill them. yes they survived because they were logged out but that was never an option or planned. so in all intents and purposes logging out of the game didn't exist.
Lol everyone dies in AOT is just cannon foddler not even in main cast died except Erwin which is basically in SEASON 3 ENDING WHAT THE SHIT PLOT ARMOR IS TYAT
At first, I actually kind of liked SAO... but the part where they suddenly got *married* ticked me off. Like...??? What??? Just like that? then *boom* everything went downhill from there.
MY PEE PEE HARD Kirito: done right how? I have no coherent comprehension skill? Guts: I hate obligations of any kind, including binging your show. *Slice*
Sao had a good idea I thought it was kinda cool about how people got stuck in a vr game and only way to survive was to finish the game but they ruined it all when they put yui in and when the game finished early and made some useless arc about fairies and some mad pervert guy. U know I liked it at first but it got ruined the best thing about the show would be the op.
Myself does like Sao but only since I’ve started the Alicization arc. I was first really confused why there were other games though the name was “Sword Art Online” but damn I love that Alicization Arc. A character who was in that arc for 24 episodes also got killed soooo... I have the feeling that all arcs before Alicization were a prologue :’)
The absolute worst thing about the show is the lack of exploration. There's this ginormous world and we don't see any of it. It's even worse in the fairy arch. Kirito chooses the assassin class and starts defying everyone's beliefs about the class when he uses the magic in intuitive ways, but he only does that twice. It should be called "Wasted Potential Online"
Or the fact that he is "I'm playing a game for first time and still i'm the best player in it, also I don't care about strenght or the weakness of item, just about it's appearence" Like the heck? Even if we believe that he is so pro gamer that he beats the crap out of every game, it's still stupid for "pro gamer that want's to save his wife" to take the worst possible equipment to show how badass he is -.-
maniakowski Trolowski To be fair, his stats were way above everyone else. He probably could have gone naked with fists only and still beat everyone up.
The first 10-15 episodes of this show were amazing. Even though this anime isn’t that good, it’ll always have a special place in my heart cuz it was the first anime I watched. The songs they used in this anime are also amazing
Wait hold on I came up with something much better (reference is from sao abridged) "Are you sure you want to pick" WHATEVER YOUR SAYING I DONT CARE, LEMME GO SAVE MY WIFE...
You have awoken Deleto Blue In the DBZ world, emojis are illegal and disgusting. I'm the product of what happens when you post a cancerous emoji. DELETE THAT SHIT N O W
Deleto Blue Emoji Bad, UA-cam Good. Your comment contributes nothing to the conversation and shows that you only wanted to comment because you hate emojis.
I only liked the abridged SAO because it was hilarious. Honestly I liked the show when it started then it went downhill fast. How does Asuna go from a badass to being captured by an asshole and then later his fuckin sister want to be with him? Like wth?
I've read the light novels back when they first made the gun version of the anime (don't care what it's called) and watched this and the Alfheim series. The thing that kind of peaked my interest was the concept of gesture shortcuts, to get around training for literal years to learn a fighting style. SAO was uninspiring and bland, but I have a large ability for suspension of disbelief. Alfheim, on the other hand, just broke all of the things for me. He obviously didn't understand anything about anything he put into the game. Didn't understand how business' worked, how basic fantasy MMO systems worked, or how basic human beings worked, much less how they work on the internet to fulfill this horrible story he built up. No business would touch tech that has proven to kill people in the entertainment industry, much less build another game on the exact engine that trapped people in a death game. He also didn't get that being a CEO for a multi-international company ISN'T a hereditary position. In a traditional MMO setting (which is what Alfheim felt like it was supposed to be), there are really two things that show what a great player are. The ability to process a lot of information and make informed decisions about said information, and resource management. The information processing has been covered in another of his videos, but the ability to manage cooldowns, aggro, and whatever your innate resource is (mana, rage, combo points or whatever they use) is a huge part, and Alfheim didn't have ANY resources to manage. At all. Everyone in SAO became a tight knit group after they got out, ignoring any real world motivations. I'm not going to get into that can of worms, but instead I'll dive into the one thing that broke my suspension of disbelief harder than anything else. Being an MMO player myself, I understand how horrible people can be in these settings. *HE WENT ON FOR A NOT INSIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME ABOUT DEATH TRAINS BEING THE WORST SOCIAL THING PLAYERS CAN DO TO EACH OTHER*. Death trains, for those who don't know, are when a higher level player runs through a low level area aggroing everything they run through going the shortest path, creating this train behind them of things to kill that is way beyond anything that a player of a level the content was created for. Eventually, they stop trying to kill said higher level player and move at crazy speeds back to their original positions. Apparently this is worse than calling a female avatar a 'cum guzzling wh0re' for either not stripping down to the basic underwear options and using the dance emote or for doing so. This is actually some of the milder interactions that I've ran across. Death trains are also apparently worse than loot ninja'ing (which is worse in most MMO players eyes).
She went from bases with weapons to trapped in a cage with no weapons when the guy who was to forcibly marry her had locked her in the game with no exit like the original Sao so kirito had to go beat him to pull her out of the game like an award for beating the final boss
Reminds me of Gigguk's SAO in 5 mins vid Asuna: "Can we keep it?!" Kirito: "NO" A:"But I waaaaant ooooooone" K:"NOOO" A:"Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaasse" K:"NO" A:"I'm not having sex with you for a MONTH" K:"Ok geez fine just make sure you feed it and take it for walks" Yui:"Are you my mamma and pappa?" A:"YES!
Sword art online had so much potential. They could've just show the whole adventure not going like. Episode 1: floor 1. And then we have episode 2: floor 37. They could've have shown all the boss battles and have a good story line. And they ruined it. For me the only good arcs in Sao are only these 2 The aincrad arc and the alicization arc
Also the ending should've been just them exiting out of the game and not any more. Like why do I want them to try and trap themselves again. That's stupid.
Old Head spy kids was good and I like sao not everyone dose but that’s ok but I don’t think there is any reason to say it is the worst it was amazing and a lot of people like it
Imagine an anime where the main character is a hacker and their only objective is to troll new players And declare war on bases disguised as the bases ally leader. Or basically 2b2t's history.
The fact that the escaped SAO in less than 20 episodes thanks to a time skip is like if there was a time skip right when Deku started in U.A to when Deku is already the number 1 hero and we saw his story from there
Jatin Gurav because when she met kirito she became happier and took everything less seriously and then she just stoped being like that but they pulled a lot of bs on that one I agree with you
@@sookiez1269 yes bro asuna became dependent on kirito. Asuna was the only character of sao which was badass for me ,not kirito coz he look somewhat cute like a child . Its just my opinion dont offend.
@@sookiez1269it was for others not for u. With ur reply on my first comment i came to know that our opinions about sao are same . Have u watched sao alicization ? Is it good?
felt the same about Avdol. When they brought him back i wasnt like YAY hes BACK!! I was like wow that just made death feel really really cheap in this series
i hate how kirito is like: yo i'm so hawt. every girl even his sister: oh my god i fell in love with him. me: the faq i'm out. edit: oh wow this comment felt so long ago, sorry for my cringe old self lmao
Only the latter half of that is even true. Kirito's only confidence is in his gaming talent. He never had self-esteem in any other department, maybe except kendo and farming salvia. Edit: I previously said radishes. That was Goku. However, not knowing what salvia was, I just assumed every anime boy that farms something will farm radishes.
Yeah i liked the anime more when the couple where fighting back to back and when Asuna wasn't a damsel in distress in the first season she was painted to be strong and capable makes me wonder if the feminists are making a article about this
Honestly though, I've felt this about basically every protagonist in the animes I watched, so I wasn't that thrown off by it. I just expected the stupidity that was Kirito. What ruined it for me was when they completely took away every badass thing about Asuna and turned her into yet another overly sexualized female character in anime.
I believe it was Hayao Miyazaki who said about today's stories and character developments that today's mangakas/anime writers don't create characters that are real relatable people, and that these writers don't know what real people are like because they don't talk to enough real people. I believe Miyazaki was referring to these waifu characters like Asuna, Nami, Orihime, Fairy Tail characters, etc. Because just think, Miyazaki's movies never objectified its female characters. He knew real people, and wrote relatable characters. Now we get these objectified waifu characters or these unrelatable protagonists *sigh*
Kirito is the worst Main Character EVER! What I most hate about him is that he acts like a hero who is special and has OP power, but he is actually a NORMAL teenager who loves games (even if he was stuck in one) and has cheat codes to become an OP game character. It’s NOT his own power!
Yeah, especially when one of them was killed off and the other two were ONE EPISODE OF AINCRAD EXCLUSIVES. Also Silca creeped me out because it felt like she was coded to be a child.
When I first watch the anime, It was like 'so-so' for me cause I like fantasy, but when Kirito and Asuna starts dating, the content of the anime became boring and it was just a let down for me :/
Yeahhh I didn’t like the first series after that point. SAO 2 was at least decent especially towards the end because you get the ability to relate to Asuna and you get your heart ripped out at the last episode
Yui's transformation into an object as a substitute for death could have been a really good story opportunity. Maybe when it first happens, they're both reassured by this, the story treats it as her being temporarily incapacitated but will be okay in no time, and then when all the action has cooled down they bring her back, and... she's completely broken. Her character model is glitching all over the place, her voice distorts constantly, and her memory and ability to respond to her environment is worse than ChatGPT. Maybe in compressing her, Kirito "corrupted her software" and the thing he did to save her ultimately caused her current state. Kirito and Asuna would both be horrified by this, their relationship would be dramatically changed, and Kirito would be forced to reckon with a personal failure of his. Wracked with guilt, shame and longing for his daughter back, he becomes obsessed with finding a way to fix her, something that drives him into isolation once again, but this time instead of it making him powerful, it's caused and continued by the fact that he's *powerless*. It doesn't exactly mesh well with the core theme of the show and might mess with the tone, but it could easily add some really good drama, it would let other characters step up and fill the team role that Kirito would struggle to fill, and most importantly, make her death and resurrection meaningful and have consequences.
".. And it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be --" IT WAS WORSE I've repeated those few seconds I don't know how many times and I crack up every time.
Even worst when... The novel explains Kirito of how he is... The anime cut some of them and gave us the flashback of the unknown scene to support them... Er pls follow the novel... If they follow them... I'm pretty sure this will be what they gonna say "Kirito is just the gamer who plays so much like a madman and became OP." Not OP like dumb... Still agree with Yui scene as BS tho.
@Jude Well I will explain them in few words... They change the whole meaning as a story in the novel too... It's also the worst as the adaptation. The novel is WAYYYYY better... Has more meaning of Kirito = Madgamer. Not Kirito = dumb OP...
Let's be honest, it got bad when the show turned into Asuna and Kirito Domestic Love Life, Lovo, Love-o, Love-Love. It lost all sense of tone, and horror when it turned into a major romance.
@@matthewlaxon828 To each their own. I hate the romance genre as a whole, and didn't realize the dark, action series I signed up for was actually going to be a total romance after a few episodes. If had just been a side of the story, it would have been fine, but it really hijacked the rest of the series.
dude imagine if the show stayed depressing and dark af. Imagine if Kirito developed some personality disorder or went crazy or ANYTHIN The show would be much better
Honestly Yui isn't conceptually bad. It'd be interesting to see how someone reacts to knowing that she's the only one who can't die, and how other characters might react to that. Would they become jealous and try to hurt her in other ways? What does her life mean, to herself and others, if it can't be ended? How does she deal with the survivors' guilt that comes with *literally everyone else's death?*

Lol that was me before I started trying to actually write a story
The moment that broke me was when they skipped half of the tower to the final boss and easily defeated him in the middle of the season. There was no reason why, they just deleted all the tension and worldbuilding up to that point FOR NOTHING.
Filler is something I dread in anime, it's what makes Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece a challenge to truck through, but SAO is one anime where I belive it would have benefitted GREATLY. They always talk abt important stuff that happened between episodes which left me wondering, plus they have a damn solid supporting cast, like Klein, and Agil are so fun and I wish we had more time with them in some filler episodes.
yeah it all went down in ep 14
exactly! i stopped before season 1 ended because they were skipping everything all the time that was interesting for me and instead showed boring unnecessary BS in detail like another girl falling for kirito! WTF?!
“Why didn’t he globally reactivate the games logout function” this is a very good point
Yes, I mean he was on a time limit and he didn't know where the log out was or if it was there but knew how to convert Yui and was in an emotional state, but yes, he should have had a completely cool head and used his amazing super speed to scroll through every option and then hack the entire system to force a logout.
Third_Eye_of_The_Slav But then we won't have 15 more episodes of... whatever SAO is considered.
You don't seem to know a lot about code or how it is structured. Also what stops him using the terminal twice?
I’m more concerned with how Kirito saved Yui when she was already in the middle of being deleted. He obviously didn’t cancel the deletion process, so how was he able to store all of her data into an item?
Scorpio The Scorpion maybe her core files were getting deleted, and all he did was dump the cache containing the same data into an item.
my favorite part was when you said he could have made a log out button instead of saving the code. Just imagine Asuna wakes up from the game crying over and then kirito just says 'bro she was an AI, get over it.'

Preach
I like the way you speak, computer man.
It would have been really fun if he had failed and when she came back she was all corrupted and evil, but no that didn't happen.
Its a fucking make believe anime. God people like you are the basement dwellers the internet makes fun of.
In my opinion it was as soon as they settled down for 2 years and got married.. ruined all kind of build up and completely changed the tone of the show

never really saw it that way, huh. thanks for the different persepctive. her "death" in abridged hit suprisingly really hard, so the "it was a prank" made me feel betrayed
They also fixed Yui's motivation for inserting herself into Kirito and Asuna's lives because they are they most fundamentally broken people she's ever seen yet still manage to have something halfway resembling a nontoxic relationship.
SAO would've been much better if it focused on the sao arc rather than making the shitty fairy arc BS

What arc did you not enjoy in season two?
TylerThePirateKing every bit of it was boring tbh and only watched it cuz i hoped it would be better but nope
4 or so scenes were good in season 2 the rest was garbage
I am so glad I never watched this anime cause oh my god.
Even if Yui is a trash character it hasn't a blackmail on Asuna. In fact Asuna was the one who wanted her like daughter. Yui always put the pression on Kirito. the harem isn't even present. It is more the girls who still love him even everybody and themselves know it is useless.

i have a little soft spot for sao, because it was the first anime my friends had me watch, and i enjoyed it. although.... kirito being able to do *everything* and forced into *anything* is kinda aids. the fairy mmo made some logic, your waifu is trapped by a creep that wanted to uhhh ya know, to her. and of course him being a creep, the ai got his creepiness, with all the sexual assulting. of course, the entirety of all of the fairy world, fucked. them removing the "you could LITTERALLY die" aspects, fucked.

How would it have killed everyone to enable them to log out? It's not like it was the logging out that was killing them, it was their avatars dying.
Victor Unger
Oh my god, you moron.

Being locked in a death game can do that to you. Not really a valid complaint there, pal.

Sword art online had so much potential. They could've just show the whole adventure not going like. Episode 1: floor 1. And then we have episode 2: floor 37. They could've have shown all the boss battles and have a good story line. And they ruined it. For me the only good arcs in Sao are only these 2
The aincrad arc and the alicization arc
Also the ending should've been just them exiting out of the game and not any more. Like why do I want them to try and trap themselves again. That's stupid.

Kickstar Gaming i agree
David Medrano they did rape her not almost rape her THEY DID RAPE HER
Berserk Ripoff Indeed.
She was raped and that must have been scary for kirito
Honestly though, I've felt this about basically every protagonist in the animes I watched, so I wasn't that thrown off by it. I just expected the stupidity that was Kirito. What ruined it for me was when they completely took away every badass thing about Asuna and turned her into yet another overly sexualized female character in anime.
Also, when they fucking turned Kirito into a girl or something? Like wtf?
Mikayla Healey
I was pissed too but, they did bring her badassery back during the Mother's Rosario arc.
Ikr?
I believe it was Hayao Miyazaki who said about today's stories and character developments that today's mangakas/anime writers don't create characters that are real relatable people, and that these writers don't know what real people are like because they don't talk to enough real people. I believe Miyazaki was referring to these waifu characters like Asuna, Nami, Orihime, Fairy Tail characters, etc.
Because just think, Miyazaki's movies never objectified its female characters. He knew real people, and wrote relatable characters. Now we get these objectified waifu characters or these unrelatable protagonists *sigh*
Mikayla Healey This.
Kirito is the worst Main Character EVER! What I most hate about him is that he acts like a hero who is special and has OP power, but he is actually a NORMAL teenager who loves games (even if he was stuck in one) and has cheat codes to become an OP game character. It’s NOT his own power!
Sao would've been better if it didn't focus on Kirito's 9291 girlfriends
Yeah, especially when one of them was killed off and the other two were ONE EPISODE OF AINCRAD EXCLUSIVES. Also Silca creeped me out because it felt like she was coded to be a child.

Nickagevscapcom Wtf who wants to be subaru? xD
".. And it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be --"
IT WAS WORSE
I've repeated those few seconds I don't know how many times and I crack up every time.
