I always just do apple cider vinegar, water, and dish soap. No need for plastic wrap, because the soap breaks the surface tension in the water so the flies slip right in.
As for number 2, it seems that some fruit flies have ended their lives in it without the plastic on top, but since I’ve put the plastic on top, there’s been no more casualties. I thought maybe the holes weren’t big enough so I made them bigger, but nothing yet. Still, awesome idea. I just started today so don’t let this dissuade anyone from the DYI method. I’ll even give another report tomorrow or ASAP unless I forget. Other than that I just spray my crested geckos up to 70 percent humidity in the morning and then let it dry out throughout the day. At night I do spray it but not nearly as much. We’ll see how these combined tactics go. If worst comes to worst, I’ll try option 3. Awesome video. I don’t wanna say too much about it because I already feel like a bully. You know you’ve found it if it’s very... slow. Thanks so much again.

Wow great video my hermit crab likes to eat allot of veggies and pellets and fruit flies keep breaking into the tank I tried the method and I saw a total drop in the amount of fruit flies in the tank thanks I loved the video

I use fly catcher strips! It's a really sticky tape that you pin to your roof and it works wonders😄 might try the glass trick as well as I haven't been able to get my hands on any fly strips recently.

I have teey tiny bugs in my hermit crab tank. They crawl all over their food. I think they are gnats. I have a sticky strip hanging with lots of gnats on it. Will i ever get rid of them?
This is totally off-topic but I really love your bed Lori it reminds me of my first bed set that I shared with my ex-husband that was my grandparents the wood is just beautiful and I love your sheets that as well it's a throwback and it's very comforting. But then again I always say that about all of your videos and this one happens to be about bugs so go figure lol 😂

I know this video is 2 years old but my tortoise enclosure is infested 😥😥😥 not sure what to do. We have the vinegar and also fly trap but there still is sooooo much in there
I have had infestations twice, I empty the aquarium, wash it out , rinse with vinegar, wipe out again. I get fresh eco earth and boil EVERYTHING and let dry (essentially dip in boiling water with tongs...food/water dishes, all shells, fake greens, wood climbing things, all of it)....obviously not the hermit crabs, lol. I have decided to never put fresh fruit/veggies in and use only a variety of dried food. I take them out and put them in another small tank every once in a while and feed them fresh stuff then. I never want those gnats again.

Thank you for not calling your viewers harties in this video lol. I was not liking that. As far as fruit flies I just use the yellow sticky paper from Amazon and it seems to work fine... but you can also use a jar full of banana peels and other rotting fruit in water and the flies should be attracted to that and drown.
