I’ve actually just received 2 of the ST25 lights which I’ve ordered from the Amazon, and it seems like I got 2 different editions of the same model, as the control panel’s decorative cover is a tiny bit different. But what made me to actually go looking for an answer is that one tube can be turned off by pressing and holding the power button (with the power supply connected) and the other one don’t. Now, as I see that you have the same edition which doesn’t turn off for me as well, I can see that 1) they’ve fixed this in a newer version, which is good 2) the store sent me one older and one newer version (which is bad); Cheers! 😉
Another great review, Gerald! You've convinced me to add this item to my wishlist as well. Also if you haven't seen it, check out Smallrig's new RC120D/B lights, would love to hear your thoughts on these. They're budget friendly and are meant to compete with lights like the Amaran 100X/D.
lol that drop scared me. I can't help but be drawn to tube lights, but I feel like I'd end up not using it much and the money will have been wasted, struggling to figure out a use-case for me.
Yeah I'm way too drawn to them. I find it difficult to find a use case for you as well especially since you do so much street work. These are more useful in these controlled environments or maybe even creative portrait work.
New Studio Setup! looks good! Never heard of Soonwell before. But looks like a good alternative.
