Honestly, iPhone 12 still holds up pretty well with 13 & 14. I have both 12&13 currently and cant tell difference for normal pics. Video quality also similar and since i shoot mainly outdoor and have rarely used Cinema mode on 13 so far.
Infact one difference I noticed is the bluetooth sound quality is bit inferior on 13 when compared with 12. But battery life is major factor I bought 13 as a daily.

Totally agree with you on the Bluetooth audio quality difference between 12 and 13. Still own a 12 mini for Airpods Pro 2.
My 2 friends purchased iphone 13, my sister purchased 12 because i told her so.
My friends think they are very smart as they got "better camera" xD
O.1 aperture only means a bit better in very dark conditions or a micro second faster capturing, or better background blur.

@@QcK0101 Nops, if you are talking about dark night, i like them to look natural over boosting iso to capture bright night. Also, apple loves to fool people by restricting apps in different devices irrespective of capability being identical.

it's incredible to me that apple STILL can't get a handle on daytime lens flares and especially floating green orbs at night. Android has had this fixed for years. Spend $1500 on a phone to take great pictures... but deal with all these green dots everywhere. Makes sense.

I think Iphone 11,12,13 almost the same, but the 14 shoots better at 3x-7x zoom and have action mode:) And why most people don't like iphone 14 because it's still 60hz screen.

As someone coming from the Android side (Samsung S series), I've been finding videos like these to be helpful when trying to find which "new" iPhone I want to get. Seems Apple has done the same as Samsung in regards to so called "upgrades" to the cameras. From the 12 to 13 to 14, it seems to be more of a user preference as to which phone works best for them. Just like Samsung and the S line. Ive owned Notes and S. What really made me start thinking about it all was going from S21+ to S22 Ultra. I think quality went backwards. I find, through this video, it seems some of the pictures are the same and some have actually gone backwards.
TL;DR - Apples to Sammies. Seems the latest models to pick from are based on user preference without any "real" upgrades to show for.
which S series have you used before?
As a current Samsung s10e and previously occasional Apple user I agree the newest phones are not always a step forward in the camera. For example with the 13 and 14 iPhones you cannot turn off hdr
Which model are you using for iphone 12?
So... the front camera of the 14 shows more detail and certainly underlines any imperfection, but is that what one really wants when taking a close up picture of their face...?
the pro models upgrades are noticeable each generation but the regular models you can barely tell.

@@swayamagrawal7932 I know you didn't reply to me but I recommend going with the 13 or 13 mini, the 13 has ALL of the features that the 12 and below don't have, such as cinematic, photographic styles and much more photography uses. There is no big difference from the 14 and the 13, So I'd say the 13 Is worth your time. Unless you really want the most up to date phone with all of the main features then I'd say the 14 is your way to go. hope this is the answer you're looking for
@@alexplayz9940 Yes, thanks for the answer. 14 would be best I think considering 6 gb of ram (future proof) , 4k cinematic and those extra details on the front camera selfies and a bit of brighter pictures and videos from the rear camera and an extra core gpu for video rendering and exporting for a couple of bucks more.

I was about to switch to 14 from 12 for camera purposes only. Now I think it’s better to go for mirrorless cameras with lenses rather wasting money on iPhone again 😌
The problem is that you won't carry your camera in your pocket.

The 13 and 14 have darker shadows than the 12. And thus darker colors as well. Now, whether or not this was done to improve color accuracy is the question. But the 12 has more dynamic range in terms of tone mapping.

@@user-ce9jy4sl2h No actually I use a pixel 5a. But, I can just see this in the video with my naked eye. However, I now realize on an hdr diaplay the iphone 13 and 14 have more linear dynamic range without tone mapping which makss their photos look better than the 12. On sdr displays though the 12 looks better.
Personally, I still prefer my pixel's photos due to the pixel shift color accuracy. Apple fakes colors with an algorithm.
To be able to see the extra noise in the iPhone 12 night video, the light has to be ridiculously low, which is not practical and would not be the ambient light 99.9% of those taking night videos with their phones would have. I think it's a non-issue; from what I've personally seen, the 12 and 13 have more or less the same low light picture and video quality, so pics/vids taken in the average indoor lighting of a house, a restaurant, etc. are broadly similar.
the only thing that i notice is the difference of the sensor size, the iphone 12 looks smaller with more deept of field

And I noticed that since the Xs the camera is outstanding
So basically the iPhone 12 is more than good enough 😂 only significant difference with the iPhone 13 is the battery life
The colors on the 14 main camera loog cold, especially in night mode; I much prefer the warmer feel of the 12.

Thanks Irina🤗, in my country, in Belarus, an iPhone 14 pro with 256 GB costs $2000. The photo has been slightly improved, but it's not worth that kind of money, the camera still shoots very doubtfully at night.

Photos are pretty close. One downside of the 13-14 is that HDR cannot be turned off

i am happy with my 12, this video has convinced me that I don't need to upgrade anytime soon. i mainly use my iPhone for photos, and my realme android for other tasks. i don't need long battery life as I don't use my iPhone heavily. maybe I'll use this one for another two or three years

I got the 13 yesterday but my front camera quality is so bad! Nothing like hers. It's even worse than my previous phone. What can I do to make it better??
Go into the camera (video) settings and turn the Dolby Vision HDR off. Most people don't have the hardware to play this kind of file on outside of the phone itself, and when they do, it just looks terrible on things that don't support it. Finally, go into the photo settings, scroll right down to the bottom and switch the file transfer from most compatible (it so isn't LOL!) to keep originals instead.
Hi I recently purchased iPhone 13 and now it is showing two light sources when zoomed example:when I try to click picture of light bulb and I am zooming in it is showing 2 light bulbs (clear reflection of light portion) is it normal please help

12 to 14 not worth it, only thing gets better is night shot
Static shots are easy. How about taking photos of kids who never stand still? What’s the shutter delay compared to 3 generations of iPhones (and add a Pixel 7 to the mix for something little different). Overall not a bad comparison just that’s not the type of photography I am into.
I am so happy with my iPhone 12. I don’t plan upgrading any time soon.

Please make a video on iphone 5s vs iphone 11 camera comparision and other features too. iphone 5s was the 1st gen 4g phone and 11 is the last gen 4g phone (iphone 12 is the 1st gen 5g phone). This would really help in understanding how apple has enahanced camera features in one entire genration broadband. I did not find one single youtube video when I wanted to understand this.
there is a video where a team with professional photographers bought all the iPhones from the first 2g, at that time up to 14 pro, and compared them all. You will find it. We were looking for what time there was the biggest jump. And that was 4s, after it there were even worse cameras, and then everything went to AI, and 4s is a phenomenon
This video showcases how pointless it is to upgrade if you have an iphone 12 or 13. Sure, if you're on an iphone Xs or older then you should consider upgrading but I'd say even with the iphone 11, there isn't a massive difference camera wise.

It’s amazing how when they first brought out the iPhone 11, it was recognised as a good value option, and an affordable worthwhile iPhone. How things have changed. The only models worth buying in iPhone now are the pro models, the standard models barely see any upgrades. They’re now using old sensors, old processors… they’re a joke really.

It just doesn't justify the extra cost compared to 13 and the same cost compared to 13 pro. I won't waste any more time with you, everyone with a brain knows how good non pro iPhones are.

I’d be very happy with an iPhone 14 or 14 plus. However what I am saying is, the jump from the iPhone 12 to the iPhone 13 was fairly small, and the jump from the iPhone 13 to the iPhone 14 is even smaller. They’re not offering enough changes to justify them. I would not feel it would be worthwhile if I owned an iPhone 12, to upgrade to the iPhone 14. The pro max models however offer a large amount more.

Definitely not. 12 is absolutely great and almost the same phone. Unless you're a really heavy user and need the extra battery life of the 13

If you pass your video files to ~55" TV screen you will see TREMENDOUS difference between 13 and 14, because 14 features 13pro sensor

This clearly shows, that the industry became boring. No major improvements. I guess we need to see 1 inch sensors with big players like Samsung, Google and Apple. Otherwise we will be amazed by beautiful keynotes with carefully picked shots to mesmerize us ... 2023 looks promising, as a new Sony's IMX989 sensor is a major breakthrough.
