"To wind the watch you turn the crown counterclockwise" What?
@@kostek4430 instructions that came with the watch indicated that, turning it clock wise once unthreaded simply threads it back in but have since discovered that you can pull the crown slightly and turn clockwise and it will wind that way as well.
@@MirrlyonTime It only winds clockwise. Also that date setting method is called semiquickset and it had been an option on some older swiss calibers as well.
@@kostek4430 as per instructions, it winds counter clockwise as well, when I first got the watch that is how I got the movement going, and another friend commented and let me know to get the crown out a little further to wind or clock wise. Just pulled it out of my watch box to confirm, I got the movement going by turning counter clock wise as well. Interesting it does that
@@kostek4430 and I stand corrected, though the watch will start when turning counter I did misread the instructions....my bad. Thanks for the insight! Quirky watch when I first got it it would not wind clockwise just kept re threading, I read the instructions only part way which said to wind turn counter, but it just meant to unthread, and did mention needing to pull the crown out a little to do so.....rookie with these things but it did wind by continuing to turn counter once it did unthread.
The great thing with Vostok is that you are getting a 1960's vintage watch.... built today! The design and construction has remained constant. A genuine, unpretentious tool-watch which does its own thing, and doesn't rely on other Swiss pieces for its design-cues. You HAVE to respect that! ❤
Agree 100 thanks for watching!
The text along the bottom of the dial says, "Made in Russia". The Back says "Waterproof 200m, Impact Resistant, Amphibious and Automatic". Pretty much what you'd expect.
Awesome thanks!
I bought 2 of those 4 years ago, it's a AK 47 of all watches. They are actually more expensive now but still worth it. This watch is produced in Russia but its a relic of the former Soviet Union. This watch has a great history. This watch was specifically made for the Soviet Navy and this watch was taken to space in 1977 by a Cosmonaut. BTW Vostok in Russian means EAST.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
It’s definitely a very cool watch!
Research the history of this watch, there's a UA-cam video about it. With the increasing world popularity and the sanctions on Russia the price of this watch increased by almost 60%. I Have expensive Swiss & Japanese watches but the Vostok is my favorite.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂@@MirrlyonTime
Hi from Russia)! I have Амфибия 420307👍👊 Восток (East) it’s our history USSR. My English very bad, I can’t explain how we pride our watches командирские (commander) and Amphibia)). Case back: автоподзавод-automatic, противоударные-shocks resist.) Good luck 👍
Conrad's on getting one! I have a vintage one but need a newer style one. Watching now brother!
You've just inspired me to wear my vintage one tomorrow! Great review! Beautiful watch! Keep up great content 💯💯💯👊
Thanks bro
One of the best of countless reviews I have seen of the Amphibia.
I have ...er...seven Vostoks, including two Amphibias (both no-date!). It's easy for me to pick them up because I live in Moscow!
Supercali is hilarious. Thanks, Chris . Subscribed!
Thanks David I really appreciate that!!!
Amfbias can be wear in all circonstances (true steel case) . Kommandirsky are perfect in showcase or for wear in good condition. For avoid degradation of nickel layer on brass !! If yellow metzl is visible its sad
Followed you from Instagram, this looks great. Definitely a fan of vostok watches. Nicely done video
Awesome, thank you!
Yes! I first got a Vostok Kommandersky in 2016 then 3 Amphibia's after that, also from a Russian gent on Instagram, I got a 70's era Raketa! I love these watches! New subscriber too!
Thank you Steven! This won’t be my one and only that’s for sure! Appreciate the sub and the feedback!
Great review of a pretty interesting watch.
Thanks migfed! I love this thing
Now that you read all my comments and suggestion you will enjoy more. Because now you know that this watch from the case back to the bezel are so good human ingenuity! :)
17 1/2 inches thick LOL that made me chuckle even though I knew what he really meant
Thanks m8! Lol
@MirrlyonTime thanks for the laugh, looks like a great watch ⌚️
@@chriskelly509 very quirky and cool
Watch for sure! Thanks chris
I love super Cali! That made me laugh! Lol great review btw I have this same watch on the way!
Thanks D D, it's a little silly I admit, and my wife cannot stand super cali she thinks I should never do it again, but I did, be sure to check out my aragon caprice world time review video which will be out very soon, just finalizing edit now. Also subscribe if you haven't done so already :)
And the newest video is now up with more silliness from super Cali haha
Fellow Wostok fan here, great video, keep going!
Thank u very much! What do you think of the komandierski lineup? I have one on my radar that is only about 60 Canadian
@@MirrlyonTime Field watches are not my cup of tea, but the new, automatic serie is excellent.
@@faalbmusic I never used to dig field watches too much but now I love em, thanks m8!
I have 12 different models and the collection is growing. Welcome to the cult that is Vostok. Great video 👍
Ha thanks Ian! I really dig this one, but thus far it’s my only one :) thanks for watching please subscribe and God bless m8!
@@MirrlyonTimeI guess you haven’t seen the Neptune models yet? Don’t look if you are trying to beat your watch addiction.
@@jerseythedog ha! This is still my one and only Vostok, so I’m lucky to not have gone down that rabbit hole more…..yet :)
Love these, I've got tjree, they're so tempting at the price.
Yes I’ve only heard of em til I got my own and I understand the rave about em! Definitely not my first, more will be coming at some point for sure. Thanks James, if you haven’t please consider subscribing to the channel, thanks and God bless
@@MirrlyonTime Have done, good luck
Not sure what you said here as I couldn’t translate it but thanks for watching!
Best budget diver is Casio Duro. Vostok-Amphibia WAS best budget diver years ago, but not anymore.
Casio duro is a beauty that’s for sure!
Just ordered the exact same, ordered from Mermon in Mother land...
Great watch! Crown is finicky to wind the watch but it’s a great little watch! Congrats m8, and thanks for watching, please subscribe, and God bless!
the bezel of Komandirskie and Amphibian are so good. Unfortunately they are uncomprehending. In a comment below I explain why we can set it up easy and why it do not move more. Why? Because we use two fingers to set it up, when one we pull, with the other we push. No one object that hit our bezel going to these coordinate action. Period!
The word quirky always comes up with Vostok…and that’s accurate! I heard someone say, “Pick the dial that offends you the least.” Ha! But these are true gems. BTW, winding is clockwise…you should feel more tension that direction. You have to pull it outward slightly while winding. You’ll hear ratcheting in the counter clockwise direction…that’s normal. The Amphibian 710 case I have features 22mm lugs. Check out some other case shapes for your next one. Oh, they’ll be more….
Oh well interesting! I wasn’t pulling out the crown that little bit further to wind clockwise as when I tried before it kept re threading lol. The instructions actually said to wind counter clockwise. Yeah I’m sure they’ll be more at some point, this time from the meranom site
Was that jomw who said that
@@jamesmurphy9845 Yes! Accurate statement, right?
@@WatchWitt i dont know, currently going through the reviews to see if i should buy one, love the look though.
@@jamesmurphy9845 Aside from looks, they're a pretty solid tank of a watch. Quirkiness follows through to the movement as well, but all in all a great piece for the price. You'll run into people who ONLY collect Vostok!
The last thing is simple: Set your bezel up, and use your watch for one week and you will see that it do not move in one week, one month ore one year and up.
Even my boy Teddy Bulbasaur likes these 👍
😆😆wore this one today!
Vostok have always unique looking style
Vostoks are amazing and so affordable.
My scuba dude Batman gmt is my favourite
Yes they are, and I only have one what's wrong with me!!!?
You can regilate those to three seconds a day.
I have one strictly origin configuration.
Thank you! Respect from Russia! The best watch for 70$ price!
It sure is! Thanks for watching
Ah! if your bezel is to loose it is different history. My recommendation is tight it up. My easy way is buy a bunch of tension wire. They are cheap in Ebay. Replace your old one for a new one. Those news are so long and you should cut, small piece in both end. Repeat the process until you be happy with your tension. Then with a sandpaper remove the rough edge that you created with the cut. And finally apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to make your bezel move smooth and firm. And period, your job is finished.
Most likely is probably to bent existing one instead of buying a new one. Works perfectly
Try to move this bezel, with one finger. If you start with the finger that you pull, it going to be totally impossible to move. Now you have 50 % less probability that your bezel can move. And now try to push with one finger. It is possible to move, but is very difficult. We have to apply pressure again the case, and then push. These two coordinate action is very rare that can be carry out by an object that hit our bezel.
Very good point! Thanks for sharing
Wind it clockwise to power it
You have to turn clockwise for winding!
I think so...
Yes, I realized after the filming that you have to pull the crown slightly while turning clockwise, otherwise it will always re-thread…..but oddly enough you can get it started by continuing counter clockwise after unthreading the crown.
Your winding the watch wrong. Its clockwise not counter.
Btw the Scuba Dude is cool and every collection should have at least one [I have 2]but not my favourite and many more to explore ...have fun! ps it just says Made in Russia on the dial .
Haha figured it was Russian made so along the right lines. Loving this watch it’s fantastic. Thanks for checking the video out, and please subscribe if you haven’t yet, if ya wanna :)
Invented to replace Rolex Submariner and Omega Seamaster for the Russian military divers. Tested by them in a North Sea sub rescue. It passed.
tell super cali to stop smoking. sounds like she's really hoarse. the first rule of vostok club is nobody talks about the straps... you just throw them away and get better ones. at least when they ship with a pressed metal band. never tried their natos (i guess this would be a zulu?). there is something really really loveable and unique about these watches. i love the design of the floating crown stem and the winding noise is just soooo buttery. the caseback engineering makes these the best watches for hobbyists to tinker with as it's virtually impossible to damage the rubber gaskets. and there is a huge modding community around vostok given how cheap and easy to work with they are. what i usually dislike about them is the bezels. not necessarily the friction grip or the fact that they are bidirectional, it's just that most of the bezels look a bit ugly imho. to really make some models shine you need to go for aftermarket bezels.
Thanks Andrei!
Yeah I’m not quite into the modding scene yet but have seen plenty of videos of people swapping out bezels. Overal I’m very happy with this one, even the strap is ok, it grew on me for sure do love the colour
Andrei, unfortunately you are one of many that do not understand the ingenious of these bezel. Is easy to set it up with two fingers, it is a great true. Because with one you pull and with the other you push. Try with one finger now, tray to pull the bezel with one finger. You see, it is impossible. The probability is reduce so fast to 50%. Lest go to push with one finger. Uhm, it move but very difficult and very few. You move it because you make pressure again the case and the push. But one object will not do this coordinate action. And your bezel will not move. And the last test. Set your bezel and use your watch for one week. Period do not move. And if you go 10 meters underwater it is more impossible to move, even using a pliers
@@jcxme As i said, i do not dislike the bezel technology. In fact i do not mind clickless bezels or bidirectional bezels. What i said is that the stock vostok bezels are usually really ugly. Maybe a more precise way of saying what i mean is that i really do not dislike the bezels, i just find the bezel inserts really ugly. i have a modded vostok which still has a friction bidirectional bezel, but just prettier. i am totally fine with that.
Hi, isn't this watch 17, 5 mm instead of inches?
Yeah I may have mis spoken happens from time to time. 18 mm wide band of that is what you are talking about thanks for watching
New sub here Chris .I'm Dave and a mad Amphibia fan .I've got 7 and collecting every case type and 5 ish to go .I love the domed acrylic crystals on them the distortion is amazing !You should get the bug like me .If so Id go for 110 next as the only model with crown guard I've seen

Thank you True and sorry for the rather unbelievably lengthy time lapse between responding!! I'm seeing this on my laptop using UA-cam studio, for some reason some comments appear here (which I obviously haven't checked in ages) and don't appear on the UA-cam or UA-cam studio app on my iphone. I'll check out the 110!!
Price is very low for a true steel case warche.
Yeah they are priced amazing, great watch!
Why does everone feel the need to go on and on about the "SCUBA dude" graphic on the dial? It is only a little picture, printed on the dial. Nothing else! It is not a special model or the name of the watch.
It’s the nick name of the watch and I think because of the cool factor, in that no other watch brand does that, at least that I know of, it’s a cool feature on the dial.
