      "To wind the watch you turn the crown counterclockwise" What?

    • @MirrlyonTime
      @MirrlyonTime  2 роки тому +2

      @@kostek4430 instructions that came with the watch indicated that, turning it clock wise once unthreaded simply threads it back in but have since discovered that you can pull the crown slightly and turn clockwise and it will wind that way as well.

    • @kostek4430
      @kostek4430 2 роки тому +1

      @@MirrlyonTime It only winds clockwise. Also that date setting method is called semiquickset and it had been an option on some older swiss calibers as well.

    • @MirrlyonTime
      @MirrlyonTime  2 роки тому

      @@kostek4430 as per instructions, it winds counter clockwise as well, when I first got the watch that is how I got the movement going, and another friend commented and let me know to get the crown out a little further to wind or clock wise. Just pulled it out of my watch box to confirm, I got the movement going by turning counter clock wise as well. Interesting it does that

    • @MirrlyonTime
      @MirrlyonTime  2 роки тому +2

      @@kostek4430 and I stand corrected, though the watch will start when turning counter I did misread the instructions....my bad. Thanks for the insight! Quirky watch when I first got it it would not wind clockwise just kept re threading, I read the instructions only part way which said to wind turn counter, but it just meant to unthread, and did mention needing to pull the crown out a little to do so.....rookie with these things but it did wind by continuing to turn counter once it did unthread.

    The great thing with Vostok is that you are getting a 1960's vintage watch.... built today! The design and construction has remained constant. A genuine, unpretentious tool-watch which does its own thing, and doesn't rely on other Swiss pieces for its design-cues. You HAVE to respect that! ❤

    I bought 2 of those 4 years ago, it's a AK 47 of all watches. They are actually more expensive now but still worth it. This watch is produced in Russia but its a relic of the former Soviet Union. This watch has a great history. This watch was specifically made for the Soviet Navy and this watch was taken to space in 1977 by a Cosmonaut. BTW Vostok in Russian means EAST.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

      Research the history of this watch, there's a UA-cam video about it. With the increasing world popularity and the sanctions on Russia the price of this watch increased by almost 60%. I Have expensive Swiss & Japanese watches but the Vostok is my favorite.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂@@MirrlyonTime

    Приветствую. Наткнулся случайно на канал. Мне приятно что часы Восток популярны за рубежом. Заводная головка шаткпя не с проста, это сделано для защиты механизма, дабы его не поломать. У меня есть подобные часы только из старого СССР 1980 года. Я их ещё не разу не обслуживал, они ходят и довольно точно, единственная в них проблема что плохо работает автопозавод от этого завожу в ручную, но думаю данная проблема из за того что я их не обслуживал и вероятно механизм от грязи прилип. Но к чему я все это пишу? К тому, что часы не только дешёвые и интересные, а ещё и долгосрочные их можно не обслуживать хоть 50 лет и они будут работать и радовать Вас.

    the bezel of Komandirskie and Amphibian are so good. Unfortunately they are uncomprehending. In a comment below I explain why we can set it up easy and why it do not move more. Why? Because we use two fingers to set it up, when one we pull, with the other we push. No one object that hit our bezel going to these coordinate action. Period!

  • @WatchWitt

    The word quirky always comes up with Vostok…and that’s accurate! I heard someone say, “Pick the dial that offends you the least.” Ha! But these are true gems. BTW, winding is clockwise…you should feel more tension that direction. You have to pull it outward slightly while winding. You’ll hear ratcheting in the counter clockwise direction…that’s normal. The Amphibian 710 case I have features 22mm lugs. Check out some other case shapes for your next one. Oh, they’ll be more….

    • @MirrlyonTime
      @MirrlyonTime  3 роки тому

      Oh well interesting! I wasn’t pulling out the crown that little bit further to wind clockwise as when I tried before it kept re threading lol. The instructions actually said to wind counter clockwise. Yeah I’m sure they’ll be more at some point, this time from the meranom site

    Ah! if your bezel is to loose it is different history. My recommendation is tight it up. My easy way is buy a bunch of tension wire. They are cheap in Ebay. Replace your old one for a new one. Those news are so long and you should cut, small piece in both end. Repeat the process until you be happy with your tension. Then with a sandpaper remove the rough edge that you created with the cut. And finally apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to make your bezel move smooth and firm. And period, your job is finished.

    • @vladspb_
      @vladspb_ Рік тому

      Most likely is probably to bent existing one instead of buying a new one. Works perfectly

  • @jcxme
    @jcxme 2 роки тому +1

    Try to move this bezel, with one finger. If you start with the finger that you pull, it going to be totally impossible to move. Now you have 50 % less probability that your bezel can move. And now try to push with one finger. It is possible to move, but is very difficult. We have to apply pressure again the case, and then push. These two coordinate action is very rare that can be carry out by an object that hit our bezel.

    tell super cali to stop smoking. sounds like she's really hoarse. the first rule of vostok club is nobody talks about the straps... you just throw them away and get better ones. at least when they ship with a pressed metal band. never tried their natos (i guess this would be a zulu?). there is something really really loveable and unique about these watches. i love the design of the floating crown stem and the winding noise is just soooo buttery. the caseback engineering makes these the best watches for hobbyists to tinker with as it's virtually impossible to damage the rubber gaskets. and there is a huge modding community around vostok given how cheap and easy to work with they are. what i usually dislike about them is the bezels. not necessarily the friction grip or the fact that they are bidirectional, it's just that most of the bezels look a bit ugly imho. to really make some models shine you need to go for aftermarket bezels.

    • @MirrlyonTime
      @MirrlyonTime  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Andrei!
      Yeah I’m not quite into the modding scene yet but have seen plenty of videos of people swapping out bezels. Overal I’m very happy with this one, even the strap is ok, it grew on me for sure do love the colour

    • @jcxme
      @jcxme 2 роки тому

      Andrei, unfortunately you are one of many that do not understand the ingenious of these bezel. Is easy to set it up with two fingers, it is a great true. Because with one you pull and with the other you push. Try with one finger now, tray to pull the bezel with one finger. You see, it is impossible. The probability is reduce so fast to 50%. Lest go to push with one finger. Uhm, it move but very difficult and very few. You move it because you make pressure again the case and the push. But one object will not do this coordinate action. And your bezel will not move. And the last test. Set your bezel and use your watch for one week. Period do not move. And if you go 10 meters underwater it is more impossible to move, even using a pliers

    • @AnCar88
      @AnCar88 2 роки тому

      @@jcxme As i said, i do not dislike the bezel technology. In fact i do not mind clickless bezels or bidirectional bezels. What i said is that the stock vostok bezels are usually really ugly. Maybe a more precise way of saying what i mean is that i really do not dislike the bezels, i just find the bezel inserts really ugly. i have a modded vostok which still has a friction bidirectional bezel, but just prettier. i am totally fine with that.
