Kayla Smith that’s what I love so much about Deadmau5. If I’m buying tickets to see Deadmau5 play live, I wanna hear HIS music, not someone else’s lmao
he's such a total bro. Remember watching him at Ultra before he became big, in one of those smaller tent areas. Good to see him do so well in the last 8 years
Mewzyc I knew right away he was gunna say his lower back, my back kills after long sets. Only way is to raise the gear on stands and even then it kinda doesn’t help
The problem is not posture, but setup... Usually the tables are very low for tall DJ’s like Dillon so they end up hunched over trying to see what’s on their little screens...
This video lets me know I'm perfectly capable of being a DJ. I used to think it'd be difficult but now I see it's just turning a couple dials and matching BPMs.
马云婕 Hey, if you liked this video, you should check out my recent trap mix (also have deep house mixes too!). Stop by, might like what I have. Peace always
3:11 as a music producer you can literally dj without headphones, you'll already know how many bars or beats you'll start a song when mixing songs live. 💯🔥
I only got into listening to more EDM recently. This is my first encounter of Dillon Francis and tbh he's a pretty chill dude. I thought he would have that 'too good for us' vibe. But no he looks like a chill dude to hang with
Great video. Although I’m going to disagree about the vinyl. CDJs are great for sure! And if I’m at a club I’d generally use them. But I do plenty of smaller gigs in which the sl-1200s are preferred. They feel better to mix and look better on stage. But if I had a lot more money to have top of the line CDJs, I might feel different.
As someone who is looking to try to start Djing im finding some of this imformative. I dont understand alot yet, but im getting there. Dillon remains a true inspiration to me and maybe one day i can meet him not only as a fan but as a fellow producer.
Because it's video about DJing? I'm aware that he knows his stuff, I've seen his techno sets in his studio. I still think it would be odd to have someone, who tells people again and again he's NOT a DJ, giving advice about DJing. That's like having Supa hot fire telling people about rapping. He's NOT a rapper.
I know right was laughing when he said that xD Im like hmmm the list is long.. Basically almost everybody that comeptes in the redbull 3style uses turntables, DMC comeptitions, Goldie awards etc etc... This is the reason i hate on house DJ's
Well, I like Dillon Francis but this quote was ignorant af! The feeling of vinyl is unbeatable and there are a lot of DJs who still use turntables. Nobody should ever complain about what hardware someone uses!
DJ Easy Buckets don't hate on all house/techno/electro/etc DJs because there's still plenty that use vinyl and quite a few that use vinyl exclusively still. and white labels and exclusives on vinyl are normal to see even if they mainly use 2 CDJs hate on the mainstream DJs like Dillon Francis that apparently are ignorant to other DJs outside their bubble of pop-EDM
Some1 like Carl Cox or Richie Hawtin would have satisfied a much broader spectrum of your audience for this. And Dillon means well here, but many of these answers border on misinformation. - concerned citizen and dj xxo
Dillon is talented and knows his shit too. Plus his public image and marketing is crazily good. But he targeted his answers at people who want to DJ similar (mainstream EDM) sets to him, as they were the people who were likely to be asking questions and watching this video.
He basically answered the first question by saying NO WE ACTUALLY DO STUFF but never explains what he does, only that it has some skill to it and that you need to know how to read a crowd which by the way is a requisite for ANY performer on stage.
You can’t explain what he does in 10 minutes, and if you didn’t have years of experience in electronic music production you wouldn’t understand anything anyway
Holler at your boy!
Love you man!
hola
fuck you dj daryl

Also maybe Eric Prydz? I pretty much never see him playing other people's music, and his music that he plays, a lot of the time are IDs

"If you don't want a bad back, don't become a DJ" lol priceless
or workout your upper and lower back, do yoga streches for back, or buy a foam roller.
or even easier, just have good posture
can u even have good posture if u are a dj? like your back can be straight/normal, but your neck is always goign to be looking down/hunched over.
I’m the type of person that downloads the free DJ app and starts pressing shit and then deletes the app 15 minuets later.
I cared!!!! I can relate on that bro
I even bought a Hercules Instinct controller. Used twice. Maybe one day, if I find it...

Really not that hard to understand, just a bit of research might let you understand all of it
If you get into the scene and stay curious, with time you will understand more or less everything he's saying and more
Just know that laptop dj’s are lazy.
i thought this was going to hardly be serious, and i end up learning more about DJing than i expected. good stuff

Porter doesn't DJ though. He's more of a live performer.
Flume performs his music only as well.
i loved his and Madeon's Shelter tour, with all the mashups of their songs. that was dope :P
Meme lord Francis at it again.
love how the 'Pioneer' is blanked out on CDJs yet you can still see it clearly on the mixer lol

Only DJ u know who uses vinyl still is DJ Snake??? Dude, theres a whole turntablism scene out there!!!!!
And not only turnablist but also a lot of House, Trance and Techno DJs do still use turntables. That quote was so ignorant!
That’s the joke.
Dhillon is a genuine chill guy
He’s just Ben Wyatt w a backward hat and sleeves
Any! He shouted out Joel! He's my favorite, and Dillon's right, he does use his own music only.
Why the hell is he using timecode and not HID
Serato came for free with his ancient Rane SL-2 card. Why pay extra 150 bucks for a club kit? LOL
system:re he's got the money and HID mode is so much better since u can get hotcues and the cdjs aren't just dummys
because its Dillon Francis
@Renigadecrew I know. It was a joke. You don't have to deal with RCA cables and stuff with HID.
I don't know DJs because i'm lame but this dude seems super funny and chill.
Deadmau5, Eric Prydz... and who cares DJs mix songs.
