It blows my mind that it took this long for a game like this to come around, super fun to watch and play im sure
Yup!!!
Its a bit basic but im so glad it exists
I remember drawing up my formations in Ms Paint wishing I could move it around like this to practice
tbh its a bit of a let down. sure its free, but its a slog. loading screens, animations, rerolls etc take A LOT of time.
@@Thalaranthey not a problem if you are used to the tabletop games like this tbh.
Rotating units during setup with shift... You just taught me a big thing I was actually complaining about. Thank you.
Oh god the wood elves, almost as strong as normal elves who get longbows for just about every single unit.
Just completed a Wood Elves run myself, you can pull off some very silly shenanigans, kiting enemies and giving everyone a bow..
I’ve thought since they added the caravan mechanic to total war warhammer they should make a roguelike mode which you play as a caravan in, and this is basically that
Same, this game really made me wish for a roguelike sort of mode for Warhammer 3!
This game is a lot of fun! I highly recommend getting mounts early and monsters like the Teradactyl.. they are like flying chariots and can help kill other monsters.
Ranged is pretty cracked in this.
Dwarves so far have been by far the easiest for me. Like everyone gets guns, their super tanky infantry even get decent ones. Total massacre, even the chaos warriors who had a 2+ save got picked apart before they touched anyone.
I think they should have ranged attacks eat up remaining movement. That way you're putting yourself at risk if you're trying to fire at short range, and you can't shoot and then take cover in the same turn (Outside of a trait for dedicated skirmishers, maybe). Especially with a Roguelike with limited replenishment it's sort of silly to try and do anything but shoot and run each turn!
For me, I'm loving the Undead, specifically ones that are Elite-heavy, since you can get early Reanimate to seriously save replenishment costs. Also because I generally love the Undead regardless of IP, lol!
As far as i know, the term 'sovl' is mostly used in online forums, so it may be an homage to that.
Soul is not searchable.Sovl very much is.
@@TheM8 and so are thousands of other combinations of letters that actually describe the genre/themes/tone/setting of the game in question. It’s still a bad title whether it’s taken SEO into account or not.
SOVL is better. Considering the whole "Souls-like" genre, and everything with Soul in its name. This, yeah, it's sovl. Thanks to the developer for making that easy for me.
I’m not arguing that it should be called SOUL. It’s already called that but spelt in a way that suggests it’s Roman themed. You’ve just come up with another great reason why it’s terribly titled; It incorrectly sounds like it’s a soulslike!
Splurmblat is easy to google but would also be an awful title. It can’t just be a google-whack It has to communicate what the game is while also being SEO friendly, but it also needs to work spoken as well as read. SOUL/SOVL is a bad title. The fact that “what is this game called?” Is even a question is reason enough to throw it in a bin and start over.
Try and tell a friend about this game and let me know how much of a favour the developer did you. I’ve never had to spell out Resident Evil to friends so they can find it and the name is unique enough that nobody ever had to arbitrarily ruin its spelling. It even sounds like a horror game. That’s how to title something.
I’m enjoying the game but the title is indefensibly terrible. Nobody but the developer need take it personally.
@@JanetOnOccasionNailed it!
I did my part. I bought the game with all the DLCs. Marvelous stuff.
Love this game and recently subscribed! Your gameplay and commentary are super dope. Could you try out the Undead at some point? They seem interesting to play!
Gonna give you a "yay" for the woodies! 😁
This is a very addictive wee game.
Could you do Ratkin at some point? Beastmen are some of my favorite too. I’ve also like the idea of doing pike and shot with human empires. Musket men and spear men. All spear men in game act like pike units when charges. Which is great. 😁 I love a good pike formation.
This game is interestingly addictive to watch and play...
Do you get a bonus for being in the trees with the elves?
No, they just don't suffer a movement penality in rough terrain.
Actually only some units have that. It's the 'Scout' trait and it's fairly common for their units, but our chariots and spearmen don't have it.
How do you show the enemy charge distance during the strategic phase?
C for enemy, X for your army. Shift+C to see enemy range unit, Shift+X to see yours.
@@Qulize Thank you!
"soVl" is so much better. It's hilarious to pronounce it as "V" in latin words too xD
Sound like Shovel with a lisp
Yay! It's (not) Warhammer time!
Maybe they’re big Lady Sovereign fans? S-O-V!
Only a leader unit can attack on a rear charge. Normal units can not.
This was recorded before that update.
@@JanetOnOccasion Aye noticed it later on when the enemy DID attack from behind and it was the best to side charge. Got me confused but was like ,must be from another version, great vid tho.
SOVL vs souless.
Counterpoint to the V being a bad designe choice. Look at what happens if you type in 'soul' into youtube, then look at what happens if you type in 'sovl'.
Here's what I wrote to somebody else who made the same argument, which is mostly still relevant though they did also mentioned that Soul sounds like a soulslike. Go find the original thread if you care:

I enjoy the undead faction /w vampire hero
Yeah, they are at the very top for strongest hero with strongest starting retinue.
@@andrewwarwick6145 also having a giant zombie helps
How could you play the pointy ears after the perfection of the dwarves?
Sovl or Soul OR SO45
Can you play the game using real historical tactics??? *_*
Depends. How did armies historically use the T-Rex in battle?
@@JanetOnOccasion Nope. But you can improve them :3
how do you show charge range?
X for your own units, C for hostiles. Now I just need to find a way to see the firing range of the opponent......
@@ieasy12 It's Shift+C
@@guiurovira3731 THANK YOU!!!
Please play lizardmen campaign
I may play them next!
@@JanetOnOccasion great news, I hope you do
