So the concept for this song is B. D. S. M. the concept and lyrics are from Ravi (the main rapper).
Each of them is a love slave to the woman (hence the chockers).
The rooms they are trapped in represent their 'fears' :
- Hongbin, the water room, he can't swim
- Ken, the flower box, being trapped alone and being put on display
- Leo, the golden chains room, being in the spotlight with the chain representing how he feels about the stares of other
- N, the broken mirror room, being broken, injured to the point where he wouldn't be able to dance anymore
- Ravi, the bright room, being irrelevant to the group/with the group, fading behind the light, shades and curtains
- Hyuk, the fake stairs, the stairs that lead nowhere, the fear that what he did, all his effort would amount for nothing.
The chockers have 6 sides representing each of them and look like a spider web where they would be trapped.
Also, the choreography also has B. D. S. M. elements like the whip movement, the tied hand/handcuff, having the members on leashes, being on their knees submitting.

They have amazing concepts for each of their MV, albums, which made them known as 'Concept Kings' in the K-pop industry.
They even made a whole year project around one concept often known as the trilogy. In 2016 they used the concepts of 3 greek gods for 3 albums, each of the album has a different meaning. Put together these album are known as The Conception and is the story of relationships, from getting in love, being in love, to falling out of love.

Since a lot of people have talked about "concept kings", I'm going to detour to talk about how VIXX never gets enough credit for their choreos. Even their music videos, sadly, don't often do their choreos justice; since they have to have so many scenes to paint the story/set the theme. They use unique formations that utilize their number of members. They do a lot of stuff that requires physical contact between members, like the lift in Chained Up but also grabbing other members' wrists or shoulders. This means that they *have* to be in the right spot at the right time every time. They also do something some of us fondly call a "vixx canon/line", where they'll be standing single-file behind one member and then ripple out~ Their dance moves also usually are lyrical, in that they fit the lyric; you can practically know what the song is saying without knowing the language because of the dance moves. (Part of me kinda wants to do a video series with my niece and maybe my older sister, who are both knowledgeable/trained dancers, and ask them to watch kpop dance practices or live performances & then ask them what they think the song is about; I think they'd nail it every time with VIXX^.^)
Not mention VIXX has one of the best dancers in kpop/ever, who honestly doesn't get enough respect for it unless it's coming from VIXX fans-.-

Other random info: 2 of the members are actually actors as well, Eunwoo and Moonbin. Eunwoo has currently played 2 lead roles in some popular dramas and Moonbin is finishing up his first drama where he's a supporting character I believe (but his face has been on a lot of promotional stuff lol). Whenever Eunwoo gets invited to shows to talk about his dramas he always makes sure to talk about ASTRO and how much he loves his group. It's very sweet. Moonbin, Rocky, and JinJin are the dance line and all have had very interesting dancing backgrounds. JinJin attended NY dance academy in Illsan, Moonbin became a trainee at 11 years old and was known as being a look-a-like of an older, famous idol, and Rocky also became a trainee when he was 11 and at 14 he was making his own choreography. Rocky was also on the 1theK series Dance War where he placed 2nd. He's also a 4th rank black belt in taekwondo and I believe his parents are also dance instructors(? unless i'm thinking on someone else?). Sanha plays the guitar and was one of the first idols to debut with braces. If you're ever curios as to what they were like before debut and all the struggles they had to go through to be in the final line up, there's a great video about them by igotarmyofarohas ( ua-cam.com/video/kYaE_oAafEk/v-deo.html ). They also had a very successful Japanese debut in 2019 but I think the mv is blocked in America :( sad. Also the two members, JinJin and Rocky, are credited as lyricist on 41/46 songs and they have their own solo songs too, JinJin's is called Mad Max and Rocky's is Have A Nice Day, they're both heavy hip-hop influenced songs that JinJin and Rocky wrote/composed themselves.
Their company also just started adding english subtitles to all their videos so every song I recommended should have them just so you know :)

If you really want to know why VIXX is the “concept kings” check out the video for “Voodoo Doll”, there is a clean and original version. This is the concept that got them the title of the concept kings, which they’ve held ever since then. The original version features more of the “scenic” shots with extra footage that elaborates more on the concept of how it portrays them as victims of the Voodoo Doll.
Another good one to check out is one of the most recent “Scentist”, it’s based off the book Perfume which is an interesting read and the video also portrays the book well.
Though all the videos are stunning in their own rights, those two are at the top of my list for VIXX videos.

FINALLY another VIXX reaction, I've waited so long. T^T9 Glad you enjoyed it, and I can't wait to see more of your reactions of them. They really are That Group, with the visuals, the talent, the concepts, and the trendsetting (they popularized Kpop fashion trends like colored contacts for live stages and chokers and uniforms), and they really deserve more recognition for all that they've done for the industry in the past 7 years.
As for the MV's concept and story and such, calling it just a straight BDSM concept like I see a lot of people doing is a little too cut and dry for what I think VIXX was really aiming for. The song and the MV don't really depict a very stable, healthy relationship between the boys and their "mistress," and is more about being controlled and trapped in an abusive, toxic relationship than anything else (which, as any BDSM practitioner will tell you, is not what that lifestyle is about). In the MV especially, the girl preys on their fears and insecurities to keep them with her, symbolized by the different environments that we see the members in, both together and individually. At the end, we can see that four of the six members make it out of her prison and into the woods, which symbolize freedom, but two are still trapped in the concrete building and don't make it out, symbolizing that they're still trapped in that toxic relationship and frame of mind. As a multifandom (23 groups) Starlight, I feel that VIXX is slept on so much when they are legit one of the best groups out there... They are in my top 3... My top groups are (these are in no specific order but some are tied since they are a close call to each other in terms of how much I love them): Top 3 are Monsta X, VIXX and BTS... Top 5 would have to have Got7 and Ateez added... Top 10 add on Oneus, EXO, BAP, BtoB and f(x)... Top 15 add UNIQ, NCT (just all units), Seventeen, Super Junior/BigBang (are tied) and AB6IX... Top 20 add Stray Kids, EXID, Mamamoo, Day6/FT Island(are tied) and Nu'Est... Now SHINee has it's own spot apart from the others because they were my first kpop group and therefore are most sacred (kinda a strong word but eh it works) to me...
I remember buying the album and getting my contract for Ravi and literally just choking because they really went all out with the bdsm concept and i was (still am) here for it.

kinky as hell applies to almost every MV vixx released lmaaao. this concept was genius, i've been listening to the song in loop since then. the mv is about them being kept cptive by the girl who put collars on them, then they managed to go out and that's why they repair their eyes from the sun (they're not used to it). the overall mv isn't focused on the storyline anyway, it's more on the aesthetic side + choreo (which is gorgeous!)
VIXX LR has two mvs if you’re interested in branching out more with VIXX! Beautiful Liar seems to be that Ravi is the emotional and honest side while Leo is lying to himself about wanting the girl to stay with him (or smth similar to that) and so his colder lying side fights his emotional side to either let her go or try to get her to stay. Whisper is, a soulmate au? The red string of fate, red and blue lighting and purple OwO. It’s such a nice mv to watch plus the dance they do in the latter half... I haven’t been able to find it anywhere except in the Whisper mv. Any Starlights reading this, have you been able to find any other videos of that duo choreo they do? They never seemed to do it in live stages and I really love the choreo they did in the mv

Yes! Welcome to becoming Starlight! :) You have time to learn so much about VIXX, because I think they won't be realising many albums together as an group soon. The members has just started to go to army (which takes 2 years to finish with). N got in couple months ago, Leo will be going in soon, in this year. Then Ken next year. And when N will be out maybe in 2021, Ravi and Hongbin will go in and Hyuk will go in 2022. IF my mathematic is correct. ^^" Soo... it can be 2024 that VIXX will realise next full group album. Which makes me so sad to think I have to wait 5 years without new full group album from VIXX. Ofcourse VIXX members will do so much mini albums, musicals, acting and so on in these 5 years that I hope it will not feel so long time. ^^ But for these 5 years it's good to look back and see where they have come from till this day. :) You should check out MyDol and VIXX Tv and the oldest mvs. Thank you for getting into VIXX and welcome to becoming Starlight.
