Richard Chamberlain as Father Ralph just so right for the part, no one else could have played this character part in The Thorn Birds... Richard has played so many other wonderful characters over his long acting career, he is still the most charming and charismatic actors in the business.... I agree there was so much exceptional talent back in those days, more than I can say about today... It was a total pleasure seeing Richard receive this award, so deceived.
The Thorn Birds the original 01 whit Rachel Ward as (Maggie ) and Richard Chamberlain was my favourite by far.. T.V. mini - series I wish they put on T.V. Screen more often.

I bought the DVD long ago, we watch it now and then as a matter of fact we just watched THE THORN BIRDS at my mother's home 2 weeks ago on AMAZON PRIME beautiful forbidden love story!! Poor Father Ralph never really chose. Definitely need to do a Re-make with actor Justin Hartley as Father Ralph ❤

i watch the thorn birds as a child..it was still in black and white. i never forgot the name richard chamberlain since then. i also watched the thorn birds again here in you tube as an adult and i cried as i did when i was a a child.
