I hope you really understand how informative and helpful you are to people who are just looking for answers to common questions relating to farming with old offset Farmalls. You put information and practices out that many aren't familiar with in a way anyone can understand, your channel is an asset to the worldwide Farmall community and deserves acknowledgement as such.
Burch Tractor has the worm gear you need. They have not failed to source anything I needed for my 1979 140. By the way… appreciate your channel. I dug out of my old barn my Grandfather’s old Farmall recently and got it going again after setting for 30years. Burch Tractor has been my go to for parts and your channel for revisiting and refreshing my memory on how this old tractor works. Latest project is rebuilding the final drives and figuring out the fertilizer/planter. Oh, everything on the table’ especially the one you said you have just one of, I got one from Burch. Hope that helps.
Another great video. To help on cool night, put a box type fan blowing on your fruit trees. This movement of air will do wonders for frost protection. Use them on all my fruit trees. The big orchards have a large propeller mounted on a 30 foot steel tower. They are powered by a V10 engine. The prop is 8 or 10 long. I use the sweeps between the rows to weed. The half shovels I use for hilling, mostly corn, and maybe the first time hilling potatoes. Enjoyed your last video on hooking up the Wi-Fi extended. I need that in my wood shop, but am about six bricks short of knowing how to hook it up in the house. Have a good week. Blessing to all.
Thanks for sharing the video Joey. Good information to a lot of people who are new to cultivating or are wanting to try something new on their cultivator. Hope you can save your grafts. I'm going to try to get my garden plowed in the next little bit. It should have been done but the job keeps me tied up and the days are finally getting longer so I can get things done. Y'all take care and I am looking forward to seeing you soon.
Joey I haven't pulled my counter shaft or the bent draft bar I built from your pictures since the day I put it on. It makes me want to give you a man hug every time I get on the tractor now. It makes life nice being able to let the counter shaft live permanently on the tractor.
Another great informative subject! We are back in LA (Lower Alabama) at the In-Laws. I am going to install the battery and put some gas in the Super AV tomorrow. I checked the tank today and it looks like new inside, no rust. I wasn't able to get the 140 back homeJust an FYI on covering plants with plastic. We were always taught to use cloth. Plastic will draw and conduct the cold much easier than a cloth covering. Hope it makes it! God Bless!
@@Jtwes Good Luck with Leno! LOL in Central Fl we always covered the shrubs, etc with sheets or blankets. Haven't had to worry with it in a few years now. The strawberry farmers turn on the sprinklers. The ice at 32* protects the plants. They loose the strawberries and bloom for a day or two, then they are right back to producing.
Hi Joey, great video on the points! I have an opportunity to pick up a pair of 15” diameter rolling discs with 12” long 1 1/4 diameter shanks. The ones you showed are 13, do you think the 15” disc size would work on my 140?
Hi Joey , I missed the snow Sunday morning. Yea it has gotten cold the last couple of days. But spring start’s Monday . I was going to plant some peas and beets but I decided to wait good thing right. Thanks for sharing. Have a good day.
Just subscribed to your channel. looking forward to viewing the great selection of content. I have a question about row spacing. was too small to remember how Pa did it. If the most narrow setting for the wheels was 44" what was the row spacing? I remember something about 36 or 38" but how does that match up with the tires at 44"? Thanks again for your time in producing the informative videos.
Hey Jeffrey Thank You and welcome. My tractor is set up on 44 inch also. Not sure I understand fully the question. 36 & 38 were often used with 2 row set ups.
Thanks for your response. I know this section is mostly for comments so i dont want to wear out my welcome with questions. but am always hungry for information. Any other way to correspond? And is your rows on 44" spacing?@@Jtwes
Where in NC are you located- I am in Wake County just South of Raleigh- really enjoy your channel- would like to compare weather and temps here in Fuquay Varina for planting times
Great video Joey lots of good information. It got 28 here the other night in Georgia. It burnt my taters but they will come back. I wish I could find some half sweeps for my 130. Also my biggest question is do you have to run that draft bar when using a fast hitch planter or will it bury your seed to deep?? Thanks for the content Joey. Always so helpful!
Hey Kyle It’s probably better to not have the draft bar on when planting. The planter will be more level. I don’t always do that lol but that’s the better way.
Empire and Nichols were the most popular. Walter Daughtry was the salesman we dealt with when we grew tobacco and used allot of plows. He's a Johnston county resident but has an office and warehouse in Goldsboro. His company is WD Supply. Super nice guy.
You need to JB weld the two gear to key way shaft joints to get rid of 90% of your steering free play. I have done it on a Farmall, A, Cub, and 100 and got rid of almost all free play in them. the worm gear is probably not your free play problem. $10 fix.
I think that large plow that you mentioned that you only have one of is actually often used off a shank in the middle off a tool bar or middle buster bar to turn out potatoes.
I’m pretty sure your right. I think they would Work Good throwing dirt onto the sides of rows when your bedding them. That’s were I would probably use them.

Nice video. Always nice to hear a little 140 talk and get the anticipation up for the new season ahead. Glad to see the graft doing well.

It made it through 2 cold nights. I think there’s a couple nights coming next week.
Glad to be a subscriber, you’re true to your word and make everything real, just like we are right there with you.
Wayne I for one am glad to have you as a subscriber .
Thanks for the how to video on all the plow points!! All this is very helpful. The set up would also be very informative as well!!

I was telling someone in the comments it could be built. I told them I couldn't quite remember who it was at the time. lol
You should do a video for everyone. Lay the bent bar over the straight one and show the measurements you sent me. I used cold roll to build mine.

Joey. I’m having a world of trouble finding the shovel sweeps still. I’d love to have a set for the backs. Any links on where to get a set?
Hey Josh
I don’t. There were a couple folks commented that they were going to check.

I want to bust out wide open but the soil needs to warm up a little.
We call them half shovels. Yes bottom further forward on the half shovels.
I was thinking that later in the video. I remember daddy having a big set also. Twice as big than was on the video.

Hey Vann
Im not too far from you. Im in Caswell County . You guys are probably a week or more in front of us.
Those shovel points are really good for a hill side garden.
agreed . They will keep it from sliding .
Joey I just picked a set of cultivators up for my 100. The rear tool bars are longer then yours. Are there different styles I’m assuming?
Email me a picture Josh. That way I’m sure of what I’m telling you. Lol
@@Jtwes roger emailing you a picture now. Almost looks like I can use a double sweep on the rear tool bar
I use my draft bar when I put my Cole planter/fertilizer attachment on the tractor.
The IH planters I have it doesn't work well with. it will bend the spring arm on the front of the planter.
Good video, I got some 10x12's at Goodman farm supply in China Grove NC. They must have been there a long time they were made in the USA.

Yep the cub applies down pressure through those lift rods in the same way.
Good to know. I never paid that much attention to them.
👌I wonder if you swapped sides on the cultivater , with those half sweeps, if you could hill your potatoes
You can plow your corn and potatoes with them I have just forgotten something over the years of using rolling cultivators. We’ll figure it back out.
How are the fish bitting
Can they get it from agri supply ? They’ll ship it ,if they are far away.
You can get the sweeps small and big. Not the shovels and I’m not sure about the half shovels.
Agri-supply is a great source for plow points and all kinds of agricultural parts
I do like getting down there at least once a year. Stock up on a few things.
How do you adjust your down pressure? I have a super A

Don’t use plastic as a frost cloth. Better to use a blanket or quilt
