Meslier was voted the best keeper in the Division by his peers last season. Last Ftiday wss a freak incident. He was having a good gsme till then.
If you go up, Stefan Ortega would be a fantastic signing. I think he is looking forward to playing more at that level, so that would be very good. But of course it's quite possible he has opportunities to play somewhere else internationally as well...

he's not a good keeper and the more you pretend he is the less pressure the club will have to upgrade the GK position. we should have sold him in summer for whatever we could get and got someone better. leciester bought their keeper last year for like 6 million and he was amazing, levels above Mez.
Goalkeeper is a position we have needed to improve for too long. Stats confirm it and watching him supports the fact that he always has a crazy moment in him. I would have sold for £10m for sure

I understand the debate around Meslier, but it's actually really simple.
He's a championship goalkeeper, and as such he's going to make mistakes, if he was more consistent he wouldn't be playing in the 2nd tier.
But he's definitely good enough to get us promoted.
1st thing 1st I don't think mes was to blame for 2nd goal was a freak bounce however I have always said his problem is his height he is too tall to get down to ground when it's close to him . Top corners fine bottom corners also fine, ball low 3ft away when he can stick out a foot fine, but low and close when he needs to get down and quick he has a problem and always will have

He's not a good GK history proves this okay he makes some good saves as does every goalie. Everton away a massive game he made a huge error. QPR last season. Portsmouth this season. Everytime he has the ball at his feet I'm nervous. Also his distribution is shocking. He should be improving not getting worse. The clean sheets were mainly because he didn't need to make a save.
How on earth you think meslier could've done anything about the qpr game is baffling

You've picked out 3 errors over 2 1/4 seasons but he's awful . Cmon get a grip get behind the team nothing can change till January. Though Nigel Martyn still looks Luke he could play a bit maybe bring him in for a dozen games

Measure Meslier against Bamford who is a complete liability for over two seasons.
If we had a half decent keeper last year we’d have gone up. Shocking shot stopper. Can’t kick the ball. What does he even do? Its been 5 years he hasn’t improved enough is enough now he’s terrorising me!!!

Didn't mean a loss, it was a game many expected a draw away from home, against a decent team, not a playoff final, its in very extra time, wasn't a relegation decider, its fine not worth the tears. He's an ok keeper and Leeds have only had ok keepers since Kasper, Robinson and Martyn, so always look to get a better one

I feel for him but playing for Leeds is a different kettle ! But we do need a Confident Goal keeper ...And with Respect he always looks on edge from day one .. that Goal was Freaky tho but im sure its hammered his confidence even More !
I think he hasn't improved at the rate his initial potential suggested.
Not a good situation for Meslier if our fans start breathing a sigh of relief for everything he does well and the oppo fans jeering him.

When it comes to the end of the season and Leeds just miss out on automatic promotion... The disappointment of this game will feel even more profound.
Surely whether Meslier made a horrendous mistake or not depends almost entirely on whether the ball did bounce freakishly or not? Does anyone blame Reina when Darren Bent scored via a deflection from that beach ball? If it did take a huge deflection off the turf then the only possible mistake Meslier made was to let the ball bounce, but then you factor in whether he could have got to it before it bounced and the potential to spill it doing so with an attacker coming in. I think this is up there with that fkin beach ball, something to tell the grandchildren one day.
The GK bible would say smother ball so it does not bounce up or just catch it.
I'd drop Meslier. No one should be undroppable, it may do him good. And Darlow surely didn't come here to be a permanent no. 2
He had plenty to do two seasons ago v Liverpool at home. The first 7 shots on target he let in. He saved the 8th... He's good enough for Championship, but that's it..

Well if you're looking at his prem form, not many keepers have good stats in relegation scraps, Pickford for example has conceded a lot and yet is number one for England, Ramsdale will concede a lot for Southampton despite being likely future England number one

Meslier has been making these types of mistakes since he broke into the first team and conceding lots of soft goals. People forget. I’ve been making excuses and defending him until this past couple of seasons and even I just can’t anymore. He’s never been confident/mad and you can see he overthinks most of it. And our backline has been keeping things quiet for him this past couple of years. Three or four decent saves per season does not make up for the five or six HOWLERS he gives up per game!
And I’m not having that about Darlow. He’ll likely be in net for Wales these next couple of weeks and he’s played for us what, twice, three times? Grizzled Championship Bastard - Newcastle, Forest. Meslier is a jellyfish and I think I speak for millions when I say I am DONE. I don’t care for his two or three 'good' game redemption arc and we’re all supposed to be nice the payback is impossible. The tipping point will come and come soon.
Also, THAT could only happen to Leeds United. Thankfully, soap operally.

He is a poor keeper overall ...concentration BS..stop feeling sorry for a guy who has cost us 6pts already this season ..drop him for the next game..Darlow in ..stop giving him excuses ..he isn't very young, he is now 24 loads of experience and his stock has fallen through the floor ..sick of this cuddles for Meslier rubbish he is paid a very good wage
and what do you do if Darlow does no better which is likely, look at the youth and hope to find someone in Jan? Hope being the operative word as good keepers that are affordable are rare along with prolific strikers, positions Leeds need improvement before they go up
@@cgdimension it sends our no1 keeper a message its not good enough..improve train harder focus and gives Darlow an opportunity to step up and say I got this..otherwise what both stay comfy on good money without testing or challenging for the spot in the first team? its an area that should of been addressed in the transfer window..but it wasn't this is what we have and both keepers need to step up
@@madeyedscreamer1 What we have seen of Darlow is not good, so you risk replacing Meslier with a keeper who is also error prone but also just not very good at shot stopping and Meslier does make good saves. Darlow is there as a last resort like at many teams they have one or two backup keepers that are rarely used because they are not particularly good. Its why clubs like City have Carson as 3rd choice, never likely to get a game or challenge but is good enough for emergencies. I wouldn't use Darlow for anything but emergencies and see what they have in the youth squads as an actual alternative, at least until Jan
Sprake was a 'good goalkeeper' but he made some big errors in big games and lost Leeds an FA cup and 2 League Championships. Let's not do that again shall we?
Seeing his occasional jaw-dropping shot-stopping ability at times makes me think that he has the kind of potential to become a top GK. So many keepers don't realize their potential till they're in their 30s and he's still so young. I just have this feeling that if he's sold, 10 years from now he'll be playing for a top club and be worth 50 million euros. He just can't do something like that again - at least not this season.

Very disappointed with this conversation. Humans make errors, shit happens. Red card, dodgy ref, missed pen, own goals etc.
It's classic Leeds to find a victim & then keep poking. Recently it was Paddy or Coops, now it's Meslier.
