The dude with real class is the regular drummer who let the challenger take the spotlight for a song. He welcomed him like a brother in arms with a handshake and encouragement. Then, he applauded the challenger afterwards. THAT, my friends, is a great human being secure in himself, a gentleman, with a heart of dignity equal to his skills as a drummer. Kudos!
I'm thinking he's their roadie. I don't see how anyone off the street can just jump into someone else's kit and play like that. Other than the actual drummer, the roadie would the only one that would be familiar with the kit setup. He has skills though.
yea hes good, but hes not in a band, so might be a talent waisted, and theres so many people out there who are talented, but u cant make everyone famous
Nah, not every instrument... Lars is unquestionably the weak point of Metallica... he fucks up all the time, and I think that's what fucks everyone else up... Lars needs to hang it up, step back, and let someone more talented take up his position for the good of the band. And before someone comes at me with the whole "Lars started the band, it's not Metallica without him" bs... Opeth doesn't have a single original member in it, as the founder of the band, and all of the initial members are no longer involved. After everyone but the founder of the band quit, he brought in Mikael Akerfeldt and others to replace them, and after he saw that Mikael and the others had developed a good direction for the band, despite it not being something he was interested, he decided to leave the band in Mikael's hands... why? Because it was what was best for the band... and he was right.
That's why drummers are the most unique type of snowflake walking the earth. Who would have though ...hot for teacher, yeah let me search my back pocket ...got it lets go
@@jackthomsonondrums You were totally awesome! Haha it's fun to see these sad internet trolls who are so jealous of people like you that are much more talented than they'll ever be! From a fellow drummer, I can say you kicked ass!
I think it’s awesome that Steel Panther does this kind of stuff. Sure they’re a great band but it’s things like this makes bands memorable and their live shows so much fun. You NEVER know what’s going to happen.
Love Panther!! They always love their crowd....never known a band interact so much!! And if I aint mistaken, Panther started life as a Van Halen covers band anyhow!!!
I love the way he breaks the mic by dropping it towards the end, then he just wings it, climbs the drum stage, tosses it to the sound guy, gesticulates along with the tune until the sound guy hands him a fixed mic, and I bet 90% of the crowd didn't even notice, or at least it didn't mess with the energy of the performance even slightly, it actually added to it because it was so smooth.
"Gesticulates." xD Good for you for knowing that word. Good for you for using correct punctuation and grammar. Thank GOD there are still literate people on UA-cam. There may be hope for the human race after all.
I Steel Panther is absolutely great for how they let this young man play and demonstrate his skill and love of the band, and for him to have the experience of a lifetime! because of how great Steel Panther is, i am now a major fan!!!
One of my fav Van Halen songs!!! This was incredibly awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad someone’s still rocking these kick ass songs! Not bad guitar work either!!!!
David Ysasi No, that's why most bands create set lists prior to tours and practice them. Most bands only practice 2-3 12 song cds worth. once they nail them then they may do some other songs but didn't sit and practice them like their sets list(s). Very few bands go out of their way to leave the set list behind or not create one at all and leave it up to the fans. CKY is one of those few who rarely if at all create a list and just ask the crowd what they want. Solo, acoustic and free shows are different, hardly anyone creates lists for those. They usually just make sure they play certain songs then do requests etc. Most tour dates use the same list for a reason and the reason why bands don't want fans recording. They don't want spoilers for their shows. Some bands might change out a song or 3 but not many change.
Zolitar Iglussey good point. Not many folks would have the nerve to call out a drummer at their own show, hop on stage at what looks like a pretty big indoor venue, and then proceed to give a pretty flawless performance. Whatever experience he's got, homie is a BAMF
Hilarious. I've seen these guys live and it's amazing that they actually sound better than the original artist on many songs. BY "better" I mean that they sound more like the recording of the song than that artist does playing their own song live. Not naming names.
This footage was ripped from a Disclosure Project documentary about this band. If you haven't seen it - In 1988, during his last week in office, Ronald Reagan ordered that Steel Panther be cryogenically frozen in Area 53 - the last line of defense in case of alien invasion in the future - WTF tactics. However, the endless amounts of hair the band generated in stasis went unchecked, eventually it formed a cocoon around the band members, insulating them from the refrigeration systems. They thawed out after three decades on ice and, the project having long been forgotten, walked out of the facility unnoticed. They crossed the desert to the nearest gas station and met this drummer, Raymond. He arranged the concert for them there and then. The band literally have no idea during this performance that it's 2018. In the documentary, after this, you see the guys going for a haircut after they've been told what year it is. One of the most moving sequences I've ever seen on film. Fucking tragic. We all our own 'hair cut' day, I guess, that stuff runs deep.
Just past it, on your left mate. Blue door. There's and old Honda Civic parked outside with a flat Earth believer under it. I forget his name. Can't miss it.
Dude, you can't tell everyone that! It's against the Nixon protocol, and you know better. Now we have to figure out a way to store the panther again without the publics knowledge! Last time it took the invention of ecstasy, and fake tits. There's no telling what it will take this time, but one things for sure; the world will be better off from whatever we come up with...
What people don't realize is that professional cover bands are in many ways more musically talented than the bands they cover because they are required to duplicate dozens of styles and sounds over the course of a night's performance, versus the original act that does just one style: themselves. What separates these guys from the original acts is that they don't have their own hit songs, but specialize in performing other people's hits. The actual level of musicianship is on par or better than the big names, even if the level of fame isn't. And yes I know Steel Panther has original music, but my point still stands as this is not what they are primarily known for, and many other top cover acts don't write originals at all.
No ear Monitors? the song was in his head... once your tight with something you can hear it or feel it... Just like playing a record... when all the players are pro's like these guys they can click, cover or whatever... his timing was right though.
Im guessing he has practiced that song for ages and maye plays in a band himselg. But the actual drummer is a real sport for just letting him take the stage and go backstage
They started out playing in small bars as a Motley Cru cover band if i remember correctly. They became popular enough to make it in Vegas and start making their own music. Most of it extremely vulgar. But if youre into that stuff, they are a blast to listen to.
I have the same shirt as randy, when I saw them in that tour I almost died because of how awesome it was, I could not move for a good 5 minutes after the show because I was basically paralyzed by kiss.
I need to go see these guys. Never thought to before because I just didn't care too much for "radio metal", but they seem like cool guys and a fun show.

well said!!
Steel Panther is a real class act. They let lots of people on stage for guitar challenges too. Always cool.
Paul Collins I agree, that's really cool
As a drummer myself we are more like a fraternity brotherhood who supports our kind.
I'm thinking he's their roadie. I don't see how anyone off the street can just jump into someone else's kit and play like that. Other than the actual drummer, the roadie would the only one that would be familiar with the kit setup. He has skills though.
Walked in with his mom. Walked out with some tang.
He was awesome and even more awesome because he was wearing a KISS t-shirt
Another Kiss Guy
Band took it well, let a guy live his dream, and the dude killed it, good on everyone
What a badass drummer! He took control immediately and killed. This is exactly why you practice and take music seriously.
So you can make some band called "Steel Panther" look sillier than they already do? Ok.
nah man, so you can make it onto youtube for 200k views and then disappear for the rest of time
If you liked this video, we would love you to check out our stuff with him in it! Hope you enjoy!
yea hes good, but hes not in a band, so might be a talent waisted, and theres so many people out there who are talented, but u cant make everyone famous
This is always one of the coolest moments at concerts, when the musicians let the fans hop on and jam out with them!
And no one is mentioning Satchel killing this cover?!?! Just wow!!
Satchel killing a song is given. He's already a guitar god.
The guy is a legend and clean as hell
If I’m not mistaken they were a Van Halen cover band before coming metal gods….
Hot for teacher Van Halen
Metallica should do this.... every concert... every song...
amjan lmao. Might as well kick Lars out of the band permenantly
ha! Wait...yeah...
One of the first times I have legitimately laughed out loud from a comment.
Every instrument...
Nah, not every instrument... Lars is unquestionably the weak point of Metallica... he fucks up all the time, and I think that's what fucks everyone else up... Lars needs to hang it up, step back, and let someone more talented take up his position for the good of the band.

That show looks like a fun time. Congrats to the band for remembering that concerts are about good music and entertainment.
Ive already seen them four times, but every concert is so unique and entertaining!! And as you see in the video, these guys are extremely talented!!!
Only person he wont let come up is a vocalist lol
Uhh. No...vocalists and celebrities come up and sing all the time with the band.
As a fellow drummer I feel this moment so strong!
Same
I didn’t realize bands like this still existed. Classic.
Patrick O'Leary They have albums out, in the hair band style. But, the lyrics are all about whores, drugs and shit. Funny as hell.
Patrick O'Leary LA it lives forever.
They're really almost a joke band that actually makes 80s rock. In the same way ben Hoffman the comedian makes country music as Wheeler Walker Jr
Nah man this is totally core.
literaly they are a parody of hair metal bands, but they're actually good at doing it lol
Drummers can relate: I will be more delighted that I got the sticks as a souvenir than the fame.
That's why drummers are the most unique type of snowflake walking the earth. Who would have though ...hot for teacher, yeah let me search my back pocket ...got it lets go
Drummer was great. I like how he didn't need to bash the hell out of the drums to get it right. Perfect.
very good rolls....and fills...

prolly not the first time

One of the reasons I respect SP is that they love interacting with their fans and letting them join them on stage for random jams. Far fucking out!
Raymond nailed it. Steel panther didn't expect it

Studying human anatomy of course. Just look at those arms! Mmhmmm.. with hands...

Thanks Mikey! You are a legend!!! 🤘🤘🤘
its another KISS guy! hahah
haha
Shahaaim lol
You talking about the Foo's Kiss guy? Too funny.
yep haha
Shahaaim Every concert needs a Kiss guy!
That's gotta be the greatest pirate I've ever seen
They are good live. The stage presence and show they all put on just adds to their entertainment value.
Raymond got some leg that night, for sure!
Now that's funny!
Please tell us how you doooooo!

he was slightly off probably a little fast and nervous, not hearing guitar something like that...but how great is that to get up and play

This kid is better than the original!
so the reg drummer got paid to watch sumone else do his job...sign me up
It takes a lot of courage to hop up there, I won't fault him that. But I must stress the importance of a metronome. Alex as well...
Satchel fckn nailed it off the cuff! Awesome bro!
That's great. The kid was so excited. Now I need to learn that intro... And buy a double bass peddle.
Noah Bird Wow thanks for being so kind! Hope you enjoyed
Holy shit that was nuts! He fakking rocked!
Check out the drummers band on our channel!!
Now watch every drummer bring a drum head to a Steel Panther show
He had the time of his life made me smile
Wow...... holycrAp someone give this kid a gigantic pile of money
Phil M Hahaha I wouldn't mind! Thanks for the kind words
Hey that was awesome. Love the crowd interaction and the chance for a fan to join in.
Satchel a little rough on the song lol. Can't blame him tho, bet they have to know hundreds of songs to bust out any moment
