Thank you so much for this! I really did enjoy it. So pure! Both, the music and the video. It's so rare to see something so pure in a music video these days. As much as I enjoy watching polished dancers and special effects, this is truly outstanding - it breathes and makes me feel a bit lighter because it's simple and beautiful at the same time.
This song and the singer have that unmistakable quality of authentic talent: music that is made from spirit and pure intuitive feeling. Poetry never fades because the human soul recognises it instantly; we really know when we are being sold cheap things and lies no matter how pretty the package; so when truth is presented it startles and enriches. Thank you Diane for your lovely piercing music and your truth.
earlier today i drank mushroom tea in the woods and thought about how nice it would be to capture what i saw and felt on film ... on the way back home, still drifting between dimensions, i listened to 'oh vanille' and 'black with green leaves' and it was perfect. i made dinner and discovered this video while eating and WOW, you guys actually put on film so many of the things i saw today. so many little beautiful details and movements. i'm so glad this exists:)))))))))
I first met Diane in what was our Senior year at High School. I was convinced to try out for the Spring Musical "Mame". She was an extraordinary person with a giant soul. Uplifting and encouraging to a newb like myself. I only wish I would have gotten involved the productions years earlier. Best experience I had in my HS career. -- "Uncle Jeff"...
Pure Beaty... voice, tune and the hands’ dance!! I think it’s the Sumerian myth of Ereshkigal that went down to the underworld... or the myth of Persephone who was living 6 months down to Adis and 6 months on the upper world!
I can't believe this is your first video you're a natural! I really felt the song through the cinema and it moved me to peace as I'm sure it will others
Diane... thank you so very much for being an outlet of emotion for me... This song speaks very closely to my soul, it means more to me than I could ever put into words..
Hi, Sara Eden. It was a thread I felt/found while visiting the Church of St. Sara in the Camargue. Her swarthy, leveling gaze in portrait there has a Kali-like quality, and I'd recently heard the story of Ereskigal/Inanna. Surrender to destruction...or be destroyed! is the link I perceive. 'Glad you've enjoyed the song & video!
I think this song is about being attached to a toxic person named Sara who drew you in and then manipulated you and took from you and broke your heart. But it’s also about seeking mercy and finding healing.
Everything about this song is so beautiful except the way she ends the verse (the na na na bit). It makes me cringe every time. Really one of the most beautiful songs but I can't enjoy it because of that awful little melody.
Lol Stephanos, she is saying “Inanna” as in the Mesopotamian goddess of love and justice. Obviously a whole contrast to the other figures in the song and changes the entire narrative with the presence of inanna. It does feel a little awkward at first phonetically, but the way the name was added lyrically was pretty clever haha
First official music video--enjoy!

One of the most important contemporary folk artists. Diane Cluck and Joanna Newsom are the best! I hope you come to Chicago sometime!
I always walk through the forest like that too

Beautiful song and video! I'm so very curious. Is there a link between the goddesses Kali, Ereshkigal and the name Sara that I don't know of?

Inanna is an important part of the story.
DianeCluckVideo I was hoping you'd remake it without them, especially for me :) xx
Stephanos Georgiou how incredibly rude, entitled and privileged of you to say this
I think the song is absolutely perfect
