I absolutely recommend orb producer suite 3. Basically, among the five plugins of Captain Epic, only the chord plugin has good quality, and otherwise it shows poor performance. On the contrary, since orb producer suite 3 is good at creating chords, melodies, and basses with various parameters and high quality, I think it is right to use orb producer suite 3 at the same price. (I've used captain epic for about a year and an orb producer for nearly half a year, and this is my personal opinion based on that.)
ORB is insanely better than Riffer, captain epic, unison midi wizard, instachords etc I have tried all of them and finally stopped that is really a good one.
What about Sundog Song Studio and Chordpotion form Feelyoursound? It would be interesting to hear your take on those. I have both tools but haven't really had yet time to get to experiment with them. The use case is very similar but they don't claim to be AI. They're the product of a one person, but seem to be actually quite deep if you just know how to use them.
Can you manually type in a cord or pick a specific chord from a scale? It doesn’t look like it from your video, which is crazy. If I’m doing a remix or something, I already know what the chords are so I would want to select those. Can you move the midi notes up or down? Too bad the note names aren’t on the midi notes.
Hey and thanks for an interesting video. Have you compared these packages to Scaler 2? I use Scaler for live performance and would like to have more control over the Scaler performances. That’s what brought me to this video.
Hey, so the reason I compared Captain Epic with Orb is because they "felt" similar to me, in that you needed the chords plugin to define the chords and the rest "followed" those chords. They have more of an Arrangement in the box feel than Scaler. Scaler to me is similar with instruments, and has the arrangement boxes but its constructed in such a way that I felt that it didnt make sense to compare directly. I do have a video where I compare scaler with Captain Chords, but thats 2 years ago and I was new to making videos so the sound quality wasn't great - you can check it out here.... ua-cam.com/video/5nqe6dTjDKo/v-deo.html However if you feel that video is outdated (Captain Chords is upgraded to Captain Epic and Scaler is at version 2.6 now) I can try to create a new one. Also, I have been planning to create Scaler video for mod matrix as well as performance, but just havent got round to it yet, so if there is enough interest I will try. Captain EPIC also has a performance mode, if that is of interest?
Hi again and thanks for the very detailed reply. Before I forget, I’m not sure what mod matrix is. Anyway, since I use Scaler in a live performance environment I was interested to learn the Captain Epic needs an internet connection to work. That is a deal killer for me. As far as you creating a new Scaler video, there has been a longer time than usual since the last update (probably because they were working on the iPad version). It might be better to wait until the next update is out to create a new Scaler video. Thanks again for the informative video.
Is it just me or are there some uncanny similarities between Captain Epic and Orb Producer? They look the same, sound the same, drag and drop buttons both in an awkward place.... Is there a relationship between Mixedinkey and Hexachords?
No I don't think so, they are definitely competitors. I think the main difference is how the AI algorithm works, Orb depends a lot more on AI than Captain EPIC which is more a bunch of presets that you can reuse.
Thanks for the video. I have been using Captain Epic (minus the Beats module) and recently purchased Pilot for a few months. Pilot is kind of worthless. But Epic has well, Epic. A couple of days ago I got Orb based on a few videos I watched stating it was better than Captain. After going through a tutorial, I can say without a doubt, Orb is a mess. With Orb, what is the point of having the synth if you can't export the audio? Waste of money,,,
hey so in Orb you can just resample the audio? This might work. Orb is quite different to Epic and Scaler, Orb can output to multiple tracks which could be useful depending on your workflow. Personally, I have no problem creating melodies, but sometimes it might be useful to hear different basslines or arpeggios. However, now with Ableton 12 you can do all that too! So Im not sure what direction Orb will go next. Captain Epic has a huge market share, because in theory, you can quickly create full tunes which is good for beginners, and with Beats, you potentially have a full creative solution in a box.
@@vxd I guess I need to go to the orb website and see if there are tutorials there. What I am finding on UA-cam just shows MIDI export. And then you need to pre load your instrument on each track. It's confusing as hell.

hey sounds good, if it works for you thats the most important thing!
I have pilot plugin and its seem way better this orb, in my opnion. More money and customers im guessing went into captain chords new epic V7

Cool!

I've actually done a couple of videos from feelyoursound
I'd definitely pick Orb! Is there a trial or a discount code for Orb anyway?
Hey so no, there is no trial of Orb but they offer 30 money back.
You can automate the sound design controls in Cubase in the usual way btw. Thanks for your great work and keep the vids coming!
Thanks for letting me know, I own cubase but never used it too busy with ableton :) but heard good things

i did the video a while ago, so cant remember, but yes you can insert your own chords into it.

can you route the midi to an external vst
Yes
how do you not utilize the internal sounds of orb and send them out to a vst like keyscape in ableton?
Yes you should be able to
Thanks for making this Video !
So captain Epic dosent work at all, without a internet connection?
or it just limited functionality?
Not at all, the plugin can't be turned on
Can you apply each module to individual external VSTs ?
yes you can!

does it work for logic pro?
I don't use logic Pro but assume so

@WJPII I made a step by step tutorial on Orb if you're interested? ua-cam.com/video/JPgGxofRKLc/v-deo.html
Had to return Captain Epic because it was a buggy dumpster fire, at least with FL Studio 21.
Abletons where its at
Can an idiot like me who doesnt know much about this stuff just start using orb and create something listenable?
Yes absolutely 💯
This might help ua-cam.com/video/JPgGxofRKLc/v-deo.html
Thanks for showing up the stuff.. but after 30 seconds it seem completely trash.. but cannot believe that is has anything to do with AI.
yeah AI is hit or miss
Feelyoursound Chillout engine and House engine is better than these toys.
woah never heard of it, but looks great! Im gonna check it out..
