This mod for Portal was made by the awesome folks over at the Project-Beta team. This is actually a demo for the upcoming Portal: Project-Beta, but in a different style. The goal was to re-create as much content from the E3 2006 Portal Trailer, including models, test-chambers, and a really close portal skin.

@lsullivancorbell It's designed to look like the trailer shown at E3 2006 when a lot of things were different. The team liked those differences enough to try and recreate them in this mod and achieved it fairly well.
Now if only the e3 2006 trailer for Spore could be recreated.

So by alpha recreation they mean bad difficulty curve and only like a couple things that resemble the actual alpha.
This video was uploaded in 2010. Pretty sure they've made progress. Until shit blew up.

Former mapper of this mod here. At the time when the PPB team was working on Project Beta they also had plans for a mini-mod that re-created the 2006 Portal trailer, which became Project Alpha. As they were working on it they discovered my ModDB page where I had uploaded a bunch of screenshots of some chamber recreations from the trailer I did for fun. They then approached me and asked if I had interest in doing PA, which I agreed to. My previous experience was to build maps in Hammer that looked pretty but never contained any substantial gameplay, so to then design Portal puzzles was 10 times as hard for me. This mod is basically 95% of my (terrible) maps and a few of the other team members, hence why it's an unfair, unbalanced mess that only exists to have those few trailer chambers in it.
Looking at it now, making a mod out of the 2006 trailer was stupid to begin with as it only featured the small chambers which only purpose was to show the basic gameplay elements and the rest were the chambers you could already play in the final game (except they were changed a bit). But hey, I was 16 at the time and had nothing better to do.

Hey, how do you install the mod? (It doesn't have a readme or anything)
Extract the archive then drop it in C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods
I think this (www.gamefront.com/files/17705668/PROJECTBETAMODFILES.7z) is the file but you'll need to modify it to work with the steam pipe update

Chamber 9 is the same as the real game but you have dual portal gun and you can’t shoot portals through the hole
2:59 Do to VALVe's lazy like skills he kept the hole there and thought of this "The hole is there to trick players trying to push the cube in but forgot how you can shoot portals and then remember." i tried that way but just for testing.

@reinoud95 That was a solution, yes. The first time I played through that's what I did.
However, from what I've read, the puzzle was meant to be solved by throwing the cube through the hole (like the trailer shows) but it was really difficult, so they added that alternate solution.
Not too bad, I take it some of the parts were made up cause they weren't int he trailers.

Test 1 It's Chapter 1 Theres 4 Chapters In The Game.
The Last Few Tests Are REEAAALLLYYYY Hard.
THE 1st Test Is Easy. It's Like Your In A Room With Portal Surfaces All Over The Place. Glass Blocking The Exit So You Can't Just Go Through The Exit.
