why protected bike lanes? pt. 1

protected bike lanes save lives. unfortunately, many of the bike lanes we have in pasig CBD have been turned into parking (0:13, 0:23, 0:43).
so why protected bike lanes?
1. it acts as an extension of the sidewalk where pedestrians can walk relatively safely (0:40)
2. it prevents bikers from being sideswiped by right-turning vehicles (0:59, 1:29)
3. it protects bikers from being pushed into the gutter by PUVs looking for passengers (1:44)
4. it keeps people safe. period. compare 2:22 and 3:01 onward and see the difference
