@@PSNxFTWxRAGOI Oh absolutely I agree with you on that, they need to do a lot to get safety way up on these, but at the same time it doesn't stop me from wanting to see one of these running a 1/8th and if they get dialed in enough seeing which is faster to the 1/8th, leroy or one of these.

@@mattb6001 Biggest lesson is that they either need more time/people on each team, or to do simpler builds. Another day or two so they actually could've tested properly before the event instead of discovering all the problems on the day of would've made a much better show.
@@Dan_Neely But what fun is that? They did make changes to be safe enough that nobody got hurt. Doing 330' runs was wise, and made it possible to do a 1/8 mile end to end, and know how not to wad them up or get hurt. Working through it and knowing when to call it good enough for now made it both entertaining and safe. If they had spent a month developing and testing the carts, it would've turned them into a mini top fuel rail with a few golf cart bodies tacked on. They have basically been evolving the same way Leroy did.
@@sireuchre What are these guys talking about?? They did 330's and the spirit of the build was to do it quickly and like you said, good enough. I was thoroughly entertained, I figured they would both break on launch and that would be that.
@@sireuchre A month would be crazy; but between not getting a chance to do any real testing beforehand and not having time to finish the planned builds (no nitrous, no boost, and the boostedboiz not being able to get drag tires up); it's clear that both teams could've used another day or two of work.

One day it's a bottle of water, another is a windshield. Like they say, if nothing breaks or flies off, you either wasnt trying hard enough or wasnt going fast enough.
A good friend that I used to work with built an 11 second nova for his first build and the rear windshield flew out on the first pass. At the time the shifter was held down with metal roofing screws (just self tapping 1/4" hex heads). I can't believe all the shady shit that went I to that car but it ran for a whole season.

Gooklog Ander still though, so close to losing an eye. When you have a piece of grinding disk or a windsheild or a piece of a block fly past your face, you actually realize PPE is actually really important. Especially in racing!!

From the very first day they described using a jet engine PLUS a racing 427.......I knew right away that was a bad idea. WAY TOO DANGEROUS, especially knowing the fact that absolutely no one has ever tried it before. I was so relieved when they announced they were scrapping the project. We don't wanna see a harsh lesson learned & chiseled on the tomb stone of ole Cleetus. Could you imagine getting an ultra-quick launch with the 427, and then kicking that jet engine in at about 90 mph?!?!? There's no telling WHAT that car would've done. Probably slam into the wall @ 180+ mph, and then keep on going, bouncing back & forth between both walls before he could shut it down. NOT GOOD.

So I've had these old videos suggested to me. Couldn't help but watch them again. Excellent build show. You should do this again Cleet, maybe a little safer. Give each team a crown Vic and a budget. And they have to do the same sort of thing. Invite a team made up of a few channels from different countries along with some of the local boys. Make an epic build series for us all to enjoy.
To hear the concern in Brent's voice at 29:40 should really drive home the fact that these dudes are a family. The vibe you guys all bring to UA-cam is so damn Rad! Oh, can we get a North East/West C&C?!!?!

I had the same thought! When Cleetus explained how heavy they were and how out of round/balance they are in a previous video I figured they'd be gone quick. Yeah these guys are busy and we love them for it but a wheel swap is pretty dang easy.

Worked for me. Never been to a drag race even though I'm a huge motorsports guy (mainly offroading) and been a mechanic for 10 years. My family however...Is not interested in motorsports, which explains why I'd never been to a track. Went to my local tract once and then next went to Cleetus and Cars Houston. Looking at building a car in the near future.

01SS_88Notch Lsnation he did not grenade the truck. It was the coolant line blowing off and going into the turbo and it forced the engine to shut off. The anti freeze in the coolant is flammable at high temps. That’s what pappi said. After that day, pappi was able to start the engine back and it ran fine

Excellent event and those high up drone shots for the burnouts are top notch and should be a staple for burnout contests, wonderful stuff.

I say Mike Finnegan's crew+Boosted Boiz+John Doc's crew+Cleetus' camp a 4 way build off and the two with the best et and mph meet in the final no matter who crosses the finish line 1st and all 4 get to race each other that way all 4 teams gets 2 passes a piece and depending on what they build have a drag race,wheelie contest,and burnout contest now that would be insane to see
Oh and have teams of 4 just like in this one but have the option to bring in reinforcements to guarantee everyone finishes in time and just to keep it fair still make it a 5 day build off to stick to the original timeline
