Seems like too much of a Showa fanboy. Which is not good for a more realistic Godzilla series. It's nice that he recognizes the older movies but for Godzillas sake put better movies in your top five list. I'm honestly worried
Winegard is 2 for 3 out of his films so far (IMO). "Blair Witch" stinks (outside of the climax), but "The Guest" and "You're Next" are well made entertainment. I don't think there's any reason to doubt Wingard, or Dougherty. These are competent directors, but at the same time these are cinematic universe films The directors are only going to have so much creative control in this type of situation. I definitely think Godzilla: KotM will be tone shifted to something more along the lines of Kong: Skull Island. The tone in 2014 is far too serious for a monster fight film featuring 4 kaiju.
I thought the design from Legendary's first movie was a great spin of classic features meshed with new, stylistic design choices, so I would be pretty sad if they changed it.

To me the biggest design difference between the two latest Godzillas reflect their creators' intent. Legendary Godzilla looks like an animal, something that could have evolved naturally on this planet (if the laws of physics were more generous). Shin Gojira looks like a monster, a grotesque genetic freak unnaturally spawned. Which is what each of their studios was going for. I personally prefer Legendary, although I could stand for him to be somewhat slimmer, and with a little bigger head and arms.
I hope that they would advertise Godzilla vs Kong as the "Battle of the Century" again. That would be cool since its a new century since King Kong vs Godzilla

+todd cabaniss More pressure? It literally pushed the female M.U.T.O. back into a building. Considering how much that thing weighed, it would take considerable force to make her move an inch. Besides, I'm sure that the Atomic breath has range. We just didn't see much of it in G14. We probably didn't see much of it because the M.U.T.O.'s EMP attack weakens and suppresses Godzilla's ability to use his atomic breath (they explained this in the novelization). That was the whole reason the M.U.T.O.'s had that ability: it temporarily prevents Godzilla's species from using their atomic breath so that the M.U.T.O.s can gang up on them and kill them.
Didn't know about the suppressive effect from the E.M.P attack. Interesting tidbit, there. Helps the attack make a lot more sense. But to add to your points, the atomic breath (even if suppressed) was still strong enough to burn through the female's neck. Completely roasted her from the inside. I figured the the M.U.T.O going through the building was just the thing recoiling thoughtlessly from the intense heat. That is some punch, if it pushed the damn thing through a building.
Carlos Huante created that piece of concept art, and he even made a King Ghidorah. As far as I know, Legendary never even considered it because they were already coming up with designs with the help of WETA and MPC. The artist even lamented that it wasn't considered.
I'm pretty sure it wouldn't ruin the monsterverse. I also hope that Rowan and Mothra's roars don't change at all. Especially due to the fact that their roars have barely changed at all throughout the entire course of the franchise.

What's wrong with G14's roar? It incorporates the classic roar while remaining original. It's an altered, updated version of Toho's classic sound effect.
I’m glad they didn’t do many huge changes. The dorsal plates was good and I liked the new feet a lot better. I also feel like the slightly changed head was good too.
sportjames23 his feet are elephantine which makes sense because Godzilla is very large meaning he would need large and wide feet to spread the weight evenly.
I hope the changes are only minor, so that Legendary Godilla is still recognizable. Or maybe they're gonna do the same thing Daiei did in the Gamera Trilogy.

Bradley Whitford was a pretty popular TV actor back in the 90s. I was in "The West Wing" back then. Now, you might know him from "Get Out", playing Alyson Williams' dad (I didn't recognize him at first, with him sporting a gray beard now).
8:41 The director of Final Wars was a huge Showa fan and not particularly fond of the Heisei era since he just felt it was "boring." Some people just love action, extremes in acting/storytelling/visuals, etc., simple narratives (e.g.: "Godzilla saves city from monster), etc. Kong: Skull Island was basically just another B-move with a big budget - fun, simple, nothing to it - just entertainment. Maybe that reason is why Legendary picked Winegard, it could be a nice change of pace!
It is entirely possible they are just doing "new concept passes" at the characters design, with no real intention of changing it. It happens all the time in game and film sequels that they revisit old and create new concepts during development just to generate ideas; that doesn't always mean that they are going to change existing designs. That being said, Godzilla has had design changes in between films within the same continuity all the time in the Showa and Heisei era films.
I would prefer if they slimmed down Godzilla. I really like the design of Godzilla 2014, it's the best way to revamp a new Godzilla design for a new audience.

I prefer to think of _Godzilla vs. Hedorah_ as "experimental." I can't say that the experiment worked but personally I love how bizarre and idiosyncratic it is. It does its part to expand the possibilities of what Godzilla can be.
I would like the atomic breath to resemble the glow from meltdown Godzilla. Just blue, unless they just wanted to make it red. R.I.P red spiral beam. In short, same color, but more powerful and with a flashier charge up. The glowing would only be when the breath was charging. Also, it would glow in fewer spots. Just at the chest, maybe the gut and down the length of its neck as it fired. It would actually be cool to see Godzilla made a tiny bit more lively in terms of movement. Little bit faster, more like a bull cause 2014 moved kinda slowly.

I loved the redesign for G14. I didn't think he looked fat, but muscular barrel chested like a powerlifter or strongman. He looked powerful and menacing. The only think I didn't really like was his feet.
Godzilla and Kong will fight like crazy until the end... Then they will end up fighting some crazy third monster that appears near the end and threatens the whole Earth. Just imagine what that monster could be...
Godzilla gets design tweaks in every movie at least in Toho. I do think that his feet will be fixed and lengthened since they don't concentrate film shots on his feet for long periods of time but those stumpy feet were over the top to make realistic yet the impossibility of the rest of him is overlooked. I do think that he will be trimmed down and his eyes altered to be maybe 20 percent bigger at most. His dorsal plates will probably be a bit bigger but have the prongs sticking out instead of looking too much like a stegosaurus. His gills were pretty well hidden in the 2014 to the point that they looked like neck ridges and they weren't flapping open like a fish. I'd like to see his nuclear breath used more and made stronger looking and reference to his regeneration powers. For Godzilla vs Kong I can see it ending in a draw with no clear cut kill. Kong could show back up in a future movie as an ally. This is a bit deja vu' for me too. When my friend and I were this kid's age you would hear the very same stuff coming from us and there was no internet or even vcr's. We'd have to wait for Godzilla week on local tv movies and read monster books and Famous Monsters. Yet except for some modern references he is still talking the same way that my best friend and I did in the mid 70's. Our big events were seeing Godzilla vs Megalon,Godzilla vs the Cosmic Monster and Godzilla on Monster Island in the theater and "bootleg recording" it with a Radio Shack cassette recorder!
My thoughts on Godzilla v Kong? I think they'll go the Bats V Supes route and have a 3rd Monster that forces the two to team up, then go their seperate ways after defeating it. Failing that, looking at up-coming films, Godzilla is the only that seems to be getting another sequel after this so.....
Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah will be the only Kaiju thoroughly introduced, but there is a rumor where multiple famous monsters, along with Kong, will make subtle appearances as cameos like in Skull Island.

My top five 5: Return of Godzilla (1984) 4: Godzilla vs Destoroyah 3: Legendary Godzilla 2: Shin Godzilla 1: Gojira On your video, I agree he is a tad immature in terms of his tweets and writing it seems, but Godzilla is itself should not be taken so seriously as to not have some good over the top fighting (See Kong: Skull Island for how to do this right.). I still hope it is serious, but perhaps more like Kong than original Godzilla. The other problem is that this is indeed a movie with King Kong and Godzilla, but it is not a remake of the classic versus movie. This is Kong vs Godzilla, taking a new version of both monsters, each with distinctly different personalities, by a totally new team and a separate universe. It should have nods to the classic of course, but it is highly doubtful that it will remotely be a true remake, much like Godzilla 2014 was not a remake of the '54 classic, it was a reboot to a new story and creature. So him not liking the original GvsKK, which is not a really good movie in all honesty (The fighting is good, the story and much of the effects in comparison to other Toho movies are lackluster at best) should not be any sort of indication of how this movie is going to be. If anything the fact that he tosses it out is hopeful; even if the original versus movie was a masterpiece in every way, we wouldn't want to see it remade like this, most people want new ideas, or at least new uses of the classic ideas. Shin Godzilla would not nearly be as memorable if it were a copy of the original or '84, it was so different, but that difference was what made the movie, in my opinion at least.

Only problem I had with 2014 Godzilla's design was his feet. If they make his feet more theropodian instead of sauropodian, I'll by happy.

Good explaination on why we should all be concerned about Adam Winegard. Choosing 3 goofy films and no love for the original KKvG is concerning. Somebody needs to tweet him "please confirm this won't be a goofy Godzilla film". I was hoping Godzilla would be evil in this film.

I know this video is kind of old now , but what I think is gonna happen in Kong vs Godzilla is eventually like Batman vs Superman, they'll work together after initially fighting to take down an evilness that threatens humanity. I just feel it.
i agree with you for the most part, im a little worried about GvK because of his choices, but im going to stay positive about it and hope it turns out being good. i still can't agree with the statement of "godzilla's revenge is entertaining" though.

I prefer to think of _Godzilla vs. Hedorah_ as "experimental." I can't say that the experiment worked but personally I love how bizarre and idiosyncratic it is. It does its part to expand the possibilities of what Godzilla can be.

I would like the atomic breath to resemble the glow from meltdown Godzilla. Just blue, unless they just wanted to make it red. R.I.P red spiral beam. In short, same color, but more powerful and with a flashier charge up. The glowing would only be when the breath was charging. Also, it would glow in fewer spots. Just at the chest, maybe the gut and down the length of its neck as it fired. It would actually be cool to see Godzilla made a tiny bit more lively in terms of movement. Little bit faster, more like a bull cause 2014 moved kinda slowly.
I hope the design change doesn't happen and stays the same or make the changes minor if any.
"evolution in the flesh" well evolution doesn't work so fast that in a few years suddenly the same person looks completely different xD
i wish that Godzilla in the sequel has dorsal fins a little bit longer, similar to Godzilla 2000's dorsal fins.
The design won't have alot of changes, it's gonna be very minor. If he did had a massive overhaul, that would break continuity

I respect your opinion, I really don't like that there is a new director for Godzilla vs King Kong. I think that either Gareth should return or maybe someone that is known for making good monster movies could join.

I loved the redesign for G14. I didn't think he looked fat, but muscular barrel chested like a powerlifter or strongman. He looked powerful and menacing. The only think I didn't really like was his feet.
Godzilla and Kong will fight like crazy until the end... Then they will end up fighting some crazy third monster that appears near the end and threatens the whole Earth. Just imagine what that monster could be...

I hope Godzilla 2014 get a update in Godzilla 2
Godzilla gets design tweaks in every movie at least in Toho. I do think that his feet will be fixed and lengthened since they don't concentrate film shots on his feet for long periods of time but those stumpy feet were over the top to make realistic yet the impossibility of the rest of him is overlooked. I do think that he will be trimmed down and his eyes altered to be maybe 20 percent bigger at most. His dorsal plates will probably be a bit bigger but have the prongs sticking out instead of looking too much like a stegosaurus. His gills were pretty well hidden in the 2014 to the point that they looked like neck ridges and they weren't flapping open like a fish. I'd like to see his nuclear breath used more and made stronger looking and reference to his regeneration powers. For Godzilla vs Kong I can see it ending in a draw with no clear cut kill. Kong could show back up in a future movie as an ally. This is a bit deja vu' for me too. When my friend and I were this kid's age you would hear the very same stuff coming from us and there was no internet or even vcr's. We'd have to wait for Godzilla week on local tv movies and read monster books and Famous Monsters. Yet except for some modern references he is still talking the same way that my best friend and I did in the mid 70's. Our big events were seeing Godzilla vs Megalon,Godzilla vs the Cosmic Monster and Godzilla on Monster Island in the theater and "bootleg recording" it with a Radio Shack cassette recorder!
A complete redesign would cost them hundreds of thousands

My thoughts on Godzilla v Kong? I think they'll go the Bats V Supes route and have a 3rd Monster that forces the two to team up, then go their seperate ways after defeating it. Failing that, looking at up-coming films, Godzilla is the only that seems to be getting another sequel after this so.....

Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah will be the only Kaiju thoroughly introduced, but there is a rumor where multiple famous monsters, along with Kong, will make subtle appearances as cameos like in Skull Island.

There wouldn't be a reason for that. The M.U.T.O.s mostly struck his neck and back. If he has any scars, they will be on his back, shoulders, or neck.
Megalodon but he can regenerate so those scars probably wouldn't exist

I love Godzilla vs Hedorah. I love the cheesy awesome bodyslamming high flying kaiju films. Not boring slowmo new monster movies but at least they're coming back.

I like that the film might be goofy. Although the Big G is meant to be serious, most Americans know him for his goofy films from the 60's and 70's. Most of the film I have seen of Godzilla are the Showa ones. But I would also like it if Godzilla was redesigned to have his atomic breath used more.

Godzilla vs Hedorah had a lot of really good spfx such as the destruction of the building by Hedorah as he flys thru it..Godzilla in the mud pit...it was psychadelic and very 007 influenced. However Id ask you to watch it again with a clean slate. It was a refreshing movie with a messege and it took a lot of chances. I remember seeing Hedora as a tadpole peering back at me as he approached the camera and as a kid i found it creepy..Its one of my favorites and oh the best part that G2 must have ..Let Godzilla fly again!!! yea that would cool. Just kidding bout that one...

On your video, I agree he is a tad immature in terms of his tweets and writing it seems, but Godzilla is itself should not be taken so seriously as to not have some good over the top fighting (See Kong: Skull Island for how to do this right.). I still hope it is serious, but perhaps more like Kong than original Godzilla.
The other problem is that this is indeed a movie with King Kong and Godzilla, but it is not a remake of the classic versus movie. This is Kong vs Godzilla, taking a new version of both monsters, each with distinctly different personalities, by a totally new team and a separate universe. It should have nods to the classic of course, but it is highly doubtful that it will remotely be a true remake, much like Godzilla 2014 was not a remake of the '54 classic, it was a reboot to a new story and creature. So him not liking the original GvsKK, which is not a really good movie in all honesty (The fighting is good, the story and much of the effects in comparison to other Toho movies are lackluster at best) should not be any sort of indication of how this movie is going to be. If anything the fact that he tosses it out is hopeful; even if the original versus movie was a masterpiece in every way, we wouldn't want to see it remade like this, most people want new ideas, or at least new uses of the classic ideas. Shin Godzilla would not nearly be as memorable if it were a copy of the original or '84, it was so different, but that difference was what made the movie, in my opinion at least.
