You know I wonder why no ones ever bothered making a Jurassic Park animated series. It seemed like the 90's thing to do. I'd think there's potential behind it.
Pelcogo There were plans to make one shortly after the movie but it was never aired
It would have been so cool.
There's actually 2 failed animated series. One that was pitched after the first movie, and the Chaos Effect series which the toys were made for.
Copyright issues, of course, play a factor into it but I’d imagine there’s also the problem of giving kids what they got in the movie: a vision that went above and beyond the life it’s given.
Kids who watched Jurassic Park would come back to the TV show growing up and look down on it if it couldn’t hold up with the splendor the movie STILL HAS! Anyone crazy enough to make an animated, KID-FRIENDLY show about JURASSIC PARK would be constantly overshadowed by the movie and all of the fans’ love for said movie.
It’d be like Superboy if he were raised by Supey in Young Justice: Connor would constantly be compared to one of his fathers (He’s the hate-child of Lex and Clark, for anyone who somehow doesn’t already know. Makes conservatives cringe hard) and he’d have to fight tooth and nail against that everyday. Connor would develop a complex and wouldn’t be able to make it without some SERIOUS FUCKING HELP.
My explanation’s kinda derailed, but here’s the summary of it: even kids would be looking at the show as if it were a copy of the movie and or they’d be scrutinizing it for anything that made it less than equal to the movie in greatness.
There were plans and even story-boards for one. It was gonna deal with different stories interconnected by the island. It was supposed to be really smartly plotted.
Unexpectedly, this video was correct! Godzilla the animated series is actually even watchable today without cringing too much. It's actually overall pretty good! Color me surprised! Most 90's era cartoons haven't aged as well.
Street Sharks is still fun too.
most haven't aged well? are you fucking crazy?

I like the animated series a lot more than the movie
Toku Nation Fair enough. 😊
Everyone does, the cartoon was more true to the character than movie ever could be.
gspida25 I am aware of that. But I personally don't hate the film that this show was based on. And *no* I am seriously *not* a "tard" or a "troll," OK? I have true, honest, legitimate, genuine reasons why I love the film.
velociraptor4you that’s understandable I see where your coming from, everyone has there own personal taste when comes to the character. Me I loved the 2014 monsterverse Godzilla he is one of my favorite versions of him along side Godzilla 2000
gspida25 I am truly glad to hear that from you. 😊 And I love the original Godzilla as well. So far, his original 1954 incarnation, his 2014 incarnation, and his portrayal from "Mothra vs Godzilla" are my personal favorites.
I don't get why people hate the iguana look. I was a kid when the movie came out, I thought it was so cool. He looked like he wasn't one to be trifled with. Unlike the Charmander looking one
That's the reason. The 1998 design was such a radical change from the design of Godzilla, and along with the fact that the 1998n one doesn't have the classic Atomic Breath or the fact that the military actually killed it, all of that is seen as an insult to the "true" Godzilla.
Me personally, I like the 1998 movie because it was my gateway to the Japanese Godzilla, so I have that film to thank for. I too like the iguana design, but I think it would have been received better had it not been an adaptation of Godzilla. Still, the cartoon kicked major ass, and the Godzilla from that show definitely stands alongside the true Godzilla as some of the most badass giants to have ever roamed the Earth.
abridgedfan100 I honestly haven't seen it since like early 2000s. I went from (my opinion) badass, bulky Godzilla to a Charmander. But yeah, change that isn't gradual isn't so well received. Especially by fans. But yeah, I didn't remember him not having his badass hyper beam until I saw this video.
moonsmonsters I for one, watching the 98 Godzilla, never thought he looked like a Iguana. I thought he was some super mutant T-Rex.
Now I've seen the seamlessly mutant Indominus Rex from Jurassic World, I don't know where I'm going.
Biologically this Godzilla is the most probable
moonsmonsters because it just wasn’t what Godzilla was if they had just changed the title to something else no one would care
My childhood cartoon, ah i remember watching this as a kid not just godzilla but men in black the series as well

We need a new Godzilla animated series set in the monsterverse. That follows Godzilla and a team of monarch scientist similar to the tone and setting like the Zilla 98 cartoon. But I would hire the animated team behind the last air bender and legend of korra and get the writers of gravity falls or spectacular Spider-Man to handle the stories.
While that would be nice, I'd prefer it not have to do with the Monsterverse Godzilla. Something unrelated. Plus, we kind of are getting this with the Planet of the Monsters trilogy. They trademarked an entire domain for Godzilla anime, so they could start making an anime series instead of a movie trilogy somewhere down the line!
Galaxeus monster planet is its own thing made for traditional toho Godzilla, it’s time America started producing their own again and WB is no stranger to adapting animated shows from their move library. Take 90’sbatman, beetlejuice, and the mask. With monsterverse Godzilla it will be easy to set up a animated spin do to the world already being established and what not. Or another independent Godzilla anime made from another team in Japan could be doable...but the first monster planet didn’t do very well in japan and I don’t think the sequels will do much better other than ruin the anticipation for G2 for the Japanese audience. But over here in America we will eat it up regardless. Godzilla has a greater chance of succeeding here in the states right than in japan. Shin was a big hit over there but monster planet bombed.
GOOD IDEA
gspida25 if its in the monster verse it would probably have to be very non canon since we still have movies coming out and such.
Dope it can fit, birth of kong comic is part of the timeline, and a lot could happen between the events of ghidorah’s discovery in 2016 to 2019.
This show had absolutely no right to be as good as it was... but it was, and I'm thankful for it!
I am 23 and I loved the 98 Godzilla movie. When I got it on tape, I would watch it all the time. I saw this series when I was younger, a few episodes and I loved it.

That Godzilla from the animated series is so lithe and graceful that he'd put any ballerina to shame!
Size any ballerina up to Godzilla's size, and I doubt they'd be able to climb a skyscraper without accidentally toppling the whole thing! xD
SinerAthin As a child, Godzilla inspired me to become a giant lizard 😂
Don't bring any kind of realism talk when speaking about Godzilla. It's Physically impossible for something that large to live outside the ocean. Sure original Godzilla is more plausible then 98' one but if you break rules, might as well go all the way. After all Rodan and Mothra shouldn't be able fly with wings this small so there is also that. But Godzilla climbing that building sure looked cool so...
Gorkdork r/wooosh
Gorkdork King Kong climbing building not able break anything while climbing building
@@Mithguar But it's a nuclear powered being... the creature doesn't have the same genetic makeup as us and therefore isn't submitted to the same rules. I mean... it's got a fucking atomic breath for gods sake.
Godzilla the series was in that odd space in the late 90's I remember seeing it as a kid and I thought it was good. Tho it was part of that men in black the cartoon series and the Extreme Ghostbusters universe which was very awesome and a bit confusing at the same time. Cause there were references to both shows in this series. I was hoping for a massive crossover where the men in black teamed up with Heat and the Ghostbusters to defeat a giant threat. Give Zilla Jr. a revamped origin and put him in the Monsterverse!!
Possibly in a MonsterVerse animated series, in a faux crossover episode (as in H.E.A.T. in name only, as a branch of Monarch but still faithful to the original series).
I've said it should be a subspecies of godzilla. Smaller but fast and agile, with its green atomic breath.
@@strenuousspider9525 Ik this isn’t really subspecies since allosaurus isn’t related to the tyrannosaurid family. But what about about having zilla be the allosaurus to Titanus Godzilla’s trex. the "fire breath" in the movie was just some cars exploding and being propelled by his roar. didnt come from his mouth at all
Apparently they did add Fire Breath to his repertoire, but yeah. I always saw the cars exploding and thought that was a weak ass excuse for "fire breath". More like flammable halitosis.
go look again the fire originates In the mouth.not from cars exploding from a roar!I had to prove another fella wrong on this matter and Google called it the atomic breath
Actually, no it just looks like that at first, but he used it twice.
Thought the same, and yes it is correct. Late comment, but here's from IMDB: "The trademark breath weapon was considered early in the production process, but was ultimately replaced by what the filmmakers called "power breath" in the script-an intensely powerful blast of pressurized air that sometimes ignites inflammable elements (such as fuel) to devastating effect."
This was always my understanding of the films, it wasn't until much later that I came across people that thought (rightly or otherwise) that this was an actual 'fire breath' attack. The clip used in this video is most certainly just cars exploding.
I liked the show myself; I enjoyed it for its unique interpretation of Zilla especially cause like you said, his speed overall was improved immensely and if you think about it, Godzilla himself isn’t very fast. I basically think of Godzilla as a tank, slow af but able to take anything that comes his way, but Zilla is your rogue, able to move fast as hell but somewhat fragile. The show really made him unique while also making him worthy of being called “Godzilla” for being strong in a different way than the original

the movie was shit but the series was awesome
Ahhh the exception to the "can't polish a turd" rule. Whatever compound of wax and lacquer used and buffing methods I hope was documented. That movie was smelly, wet, and corn ridden but their unique polishing methods allowed you to see your reflection in it by the time the cartoon first aired. True polishing craftsmen, I assume as we speak the masters are refurbishing the glossy brand new look to a early 1700's nightstand that once was owned by royalty. May your buffing pads never run out of polish, and those that leave oily fingerprints be banished from your sight.

LOVED The 1998 film when I was a kid, but sadly I never knew there was an animated series based off this film (and its never produced sequal), so this is a great time to catch up on this rare gem of a cartoon!
I love the animated series and even now in 2019 I am still watching it and still love the series and Zilla Jr. I just love Zilla Jr.
This was one of my favorite shows as a kid, and honestly, I think I have more appreciation for it as an adult. I had Monster Wars on VHS as a kid and watched it so many times the tape wore out. I didn't see the 1998 movie until I was a teenager, so little me thought the 1998 movie toys were toys from this cartoon, and I was obsessed with them. I never saw any of the original Godzilla movies as a kid, either. So this cartoon version, and the Hanna Barbera version, were my only exposure to Godzilla. I liked both, but this version was by far my favorite. Now that I'm older and have been exposed to most of the original Japanese Godzilla movies, I can definitely understand why the American version of the 90s wasn't well loved, but I still appreciate this version as its own monster that was such a big part of my childhood. I'm SO glad the entire series was finally released on DVD years back so that I could return to something that meant so much to me as a kid.
My biggest gripe is that Monster Wars happens basically in the middle of the first season. It feels like a three part season finale, not a middle chunk. Comparative to the other episodes, Monster Wars had a pretty intense conflict and story with several monsters -- some of which that hadn't even been introduced yet, and upon seeing them in later episodes, HEAT acts like they've never seen them before -- and the return to the basic formula for the rest of the episodes falls a little flat. Monster Wars was too tough an act to follow imo and really should have been the finale. Especially since Monster Wars sets up a "Monster Island" type deal, and I believe in the very next episode, the characters talk about the concept as a hypothetical and scoff at it as impractical. Definitely feels like they're out of order in that sense. But if the scheduling and management was struggling, I guess it makes sense that they would crank the episodes out in the order of completion rather than the order they were probably intended to be in. Other than that, though, I absolutely love this series and highly recommend it to people who haven't seen it.
Man, I remember this show. I was only 6-7 years old when it aired, but I watched every episode I could, usually with my older brother right next to me, as he was the one who got me hooked on Godzilla. Good times.
I love this show, it was the highlight of my childhood and many Saturdays until it was canned. I wasn't big on kaiju films, until this show. So this definitely has a special place in my heart.
I've recently watched the episodes of the series, and I loved watching the series. Also I noticed something about some of the monsters that Zilla fought, a lot of them almost look like like versions of Tohos monsters transformed into Tristars mutants ( not complaining or anything, also that's what the monsters are called in the show), also I noticed that that used a lot of Jurassic Park roars for their mutants, but other than that, it's one of the best shows I've ever watched.
I thought I was the only one who remembered/enjoyed this series. Thanks for proving me wrong.
It’s a great series! You can buy a disc set with all 38 episodes including 2 unaired episodes. Definitely a great show.
This was my first introduction to the king of the monsters, I remember watching the few DVDs my Nan had (the mecha G arc) and I LOVED IT! So obviously a few years later after searching the show up I finally found all the episodes and I was like “T-th-there’s more!? Ahhhhhh!” Needless to say I binged it like it was a Netflix show and found myself still wanting more and more despite having seen them all. It was kinda like creating a new childhood (at the age of 14 and within the timespan of a week or two lol) so I’m kinda disappointed that we might never get a Godzilla show like this again, and even if we do we’ll never have *this* universe featured again as a new movie or show.
I remember learning about the show from one of my classmates and freaking out. My first episode was D.O.A. with El Gusano Gigante. I miss the first few minutes and was lost as heck as to who was who but I loved it! I taped every episode and later bought the dvd.
I loved the series so much every episode was something new and exciting and I couldn't wait for the next episode.
Nostalgia trip thanks man.
I few months ago I remembered this cartoon and how much I loved it as a child and decided to go and watch it again. It was fun, still a very enternaining show but boy, do they live in the most convenient timeline ever. Everything just comes perfectly in place just at the right moment or everyone is safe because of X or Y reason.
Still today, it is a good series to wacth! I´m definitely showing this to my future kids, not just for them, but as another excuse to watch it again and again XD
Really delighted there's so many people who remember this show! Remember watching this as a kid and just like DangerVille, I was HOOKED from start to end. This got back to what made Godzilla a delight for me as a kid, monster battles and some slight fun human stuff on the side. Cheers for bringing up this show. I gotta try and see if I can re-watch at! ^=^
PS - This show brings me back to MIB, Ghostbusters and my all time favorite, Big Guy and Rusty! Ugh, what a delight this video was. Thank you once again Danger!
Honesrly
I've never seen this show but holy shit Zilla is the best in this
I love the lavish detail of his line work whenever he's on screen. Detailed line art is my artistic equivalent to porn
It also helps that apparently, this Zilla is a lot more accepted than his film daddy. I recall hearing someone say he has "The heart of Godzilla" or something to that effect
He is Godzilla not zilla he earned the name ass hole.
Thank you for doing this guy the honors that he deserves. I hope he makes it into legendary and we see just how intelligent he is compared to other monsters.
I think this design is better than any other Godzilla design
It is one of my favorites. Along with 2000 and 2014. Not that the others are bad (heck I was raised on the older versions).
Finally some respect for my first true introduction to Godzilla
Much appreciated
Nostalgia hit hard. I used to love this series.
His enemies share similar traits.
-Quetzalcoatl is viewed as Rodan.
-Nessie and Komodithrax act as Mothra.
-Giant Mutant Bee, Sub-Zero Manta, Mutant Bat and Giant Cicada act as Battra.
-Tachyons act as Futurians and Xiliens.
-Nanotech Creature and Techno-Sentient act as Hedorah.
-D.R.A.G.M.A. act as Ghidorah.
-Crustaceous Rex and the Giant Turtle acts as Anguirus (the first kaiju villain to Godzilla).
-Cyber-Godzilla acted as Mechagodzilla
I grew up watching this series I loved it. It was great I still love the 1998 Godzilla movie even though it wasn't that great. Wish we had at least a trilogy of the 1998 Godzilla movie but it didn't do to well & people really didn't like it. I still like it No matter what even with all its faults I'll keep watching the movie & the series.
Nice video brother. Thoroughly enjoyed the content. I was young when the movie came out, saw it in theatre's. Just didn't click, especially since I had been renting Godzilla movies from Blockbuster throughout my childhood lol. I enjoyed the animated series storytelling & premise. I recall one episode in specific where their was another reptilian monster who was protecting her egg from yet another monster... Obviously Godzilla's not havin that & steps in to help protect his distant cousins offspring ☺. Yeah, that episode stands out to me personally. Again, nice vid and glad you brought up the topic. 😎✌
It depresses me how underrated this series is. I would argue that it is honestly the best thing in the entire Godzilla franchise, even beating out the Japanese films by a small margin. Despite the cheesy dialogue, there was a lot less cheese and cringe overall compared to many of the original Japanese films, let's be honest with ourselves.
The story is competent, the characters are sensible, and Zilla is treated with respect this time around as a badass that steadily grows stronger and more versatile each episode.
It is a god damn shame that the Japanese creators outright IGNORE the existence of this series and continued to shit on the Zilla incarnation with Final Wars, dividing the fanbase up after this series worked so hard to make up for the movie's mistakes and bring us all back together.
It is an even bigger shame that the latest Americanized version of Godzilla is arguably WORSE in every way to the animated series. Retarded story, retarded characters, contrived plot. Nothing is sensible at all, but at least the CGI and flair is entertaining, I guess.
Also, let's not forget how ballsy the commercials for this animated series was: having Zilla eat an entire group of bratty girls lmao
I'm glad to see, even so many years later, that the Godzilla Animated Series wasn't forgotten. I remember liking it a lot, not really loving at the time, but liking it better and better with each watch.
Thanks gor bringing back so many good memories, dude. Love the video.
They need to bring it back cause it's the 20th anniversary
It's good because it's the only good series that has to be made canon
