    I've been playing for about 17 years, only seriously maybe the first year or two and the last two and I've put new strings on several times. I still always watch this video before each time, very simple, very calming for some reason to me.

      I have a question, if you don't necessarily have a nut file handy would a small piece of sand papper do the trick for a small adjustment?@ntunemusicandsound

    What's great help! I normally play headless basses, but picked up a Warwick and find changing strings daunting. This has made me keep the Warwick ! Thanks a lot 😺👍

    First time ever re-stringing my bass, I've had it for about a year now, and I needed to polish the fretboard, meaning I wanted to switch out the strings too. This video actually helped out a lot even though I accidentally cut my lower E string too short. At least I got the rest of 'em on there though, and hopefully when I call Ernie Ball tomorrow, they'll be able to send me a replacement E string, and if not I can just buy a new pack of strings, it's no biggie

    Thank you for your lesson. I am very grateful. You showed me exactly how to string a bass guitar. This is my first time, and I'll take this with me forever. I am eternally grateful. Thank you. Popo. (I am grateful for your presence. I want to check out your other videos. I didn't have to go to any other videos. Thanks. p.)

    Only thing he didn't mention is that the winds need to go underneath each other.( the string ending up on bottom not on top)..

    • @neil2905
      @neil2905 7 років тому +2

      dalbyonemanband you should'nt snip the top of a new string straight across like he does. You'll kill the string.

    Thanks for your very informative video. So 5 inches of string past the post will work on all basses will work for winding or will it start to overlap when winding the string on the post?

    Changing bass strings to diff gauge--Tune Bass and let sit for 2 hours---after 2 hour write down how many cents the turning is off.--if the tuning is high (sharp) turn truss rod CW 1/8 and re-tune--if the tuning is flat turn truss rod CCW 1/8 keep checking the tuning until the strings and truss rod are in balance-DR KEL i

    I was always taught that having too many wraps causes tuning stability issues. Is this true or a myth? I play electric guitar

    • @leonardcrate

      As long as the windings go underneath each other, and make sure it's only one layer of windings!!, I repair and set up a lot of guitars and I also deal with a lot of overlapped strings on the machine head, that's something nobody wants because it makes it weaker and it'll start to rattle, honestly sick and tired of telling my clients how to put on the strings because they keep bringing in their "axes" and complaining how the guitar rattles, immediately I look at the tuning peg and sure enough, their overlapping. So just make sure they wind underneath each other but not too much, hope this helps you of somewhat, ✌😉

    While I’m changing my strings they are hugging the fretboard no matter how tight they are, the action was fine with the strings it used to have.

  • @SuperCyril2

    I was told that you should replace one string at a time so that the tension on the neck isn't totally released. Is this true or a myth??

    After putting the strings on, you need to stretch them and re-tune a few times.

    • @ntunemusicandsound

      The Ernie Ball strings are still a favorite among bass players. As for the gauge, we recommend the Super Slinky. Good luck with your new bass purchase.
