I night pig hunt with a neighbor. I run NVG's and he runs a thermal optic (pulsar) - best of both worlds. His optic has a built-in range finder. As Eric mentioned about tech out there that can pick up the point of origin of a laser from a laser range finder (LRF). When he ranges a pig with his optic, his laser is in the same spectrum as my NVG's. Meaning, that I can see a laser mark through my NVG's. So keep in mind that using certain LRF at night can be seen by others with NVG's or even certain digital cameras.
ATN also has a binocular range finder that will put the range corrected targeting dot directly on the reticle of their bluetooth connected day/night scope. Pretty handy. My buddy and I tested it and it's good to go, lets him stay on the gun without manipulation of a bunch of extra gear

They are way fun on 22lr or pcc. I think if you want to run a pdw or pcc it needs to have at minimum binary or frt. Pistol ammo sucks at killing anything and you need to use a lot if it. They would probably work on 556 or 308 but accuracy is harder because you can't just forget the trigger and focus on aiming (can't just ride the lightning).
Little one handed chainsaws are great. Be careful of kickback but they are nice. At work they just got some of the new electric ones and they are surprisingly decent. Almost completely silent and has enough power to process downed trees under 10in in diameter. You could do bigger but it would suck.
