- Video from a #solokayaking trip - kayaking on Göta Kanal for the first time as part of my #paddlingin100cities project. Early June 2024. I had paddled to #Motala from #Vadstena after a day portable kayaking where I traveled by train and bus from Stockholm with my Kokopelli Moki Lite inflatable kayak. Here, I've just reached Motala, and will now enter Göta Kanal to paddle towards the lock at Borenshult.

That canal looks great to explore, and clean enough to swim in, wow!
Yes, it was nice to explore this stretch - paddled further down the canal in another location about a week ago. Clearly at least a swimmer confident enough to swim (or just doesn't care about being radioactive). There's quite a bit of boat traffic there after all..

Yes, this was a lot of fun! The trip on Göta kanal itself was fairly short, but the overall trip from Vadstena to there was awesome - and of course quite eventful with the heavy waves that appeared on lake Vättern as the weather shifted to something much worse than the forecast...
Endlich mal eine Tour, die ich noch nicht gemacht habe.🤣, viel Spaß noch.

Awesome trip Patrik, you have some amazing spots over there for kayaking. That first loch you came to I wish you had filmed getting back in because it looked very high, so would have been nice to see you conker the mountain Hehe.

Thanks George! It was high in fact, but further down there was an area with only maybe 0,5 m or so elevation where I could climb down into the kayak. This was a good trip - same as the one with the crazy waves on lake Vättern. Now that ice cream boat in York sounds like quite something! You said I'd be jealous at some point I think and I am 😎
