- In this episode, we're wrapping up our snorkeling adventures with turtles and checking out Dinghy's Beach Bar at Honeymoon Beach on Water Island. Join us as we explore their menu of bushwackers, then grab the ferry over to St. Thomas to head back to the Crown Princess for an evening of fun ... huzzah!!
The final phase of MegaVacay2020 is a ten-night cruise aboard the Crown Princess out of Fort Lauderdale! We sailed February 5 - March 6, 2020 with stops in St. Thomas, Dominica, Grenada, Bonaire, and Aruba. So far, we've completed a week at DisneyWorld as well as 20 days of cruising aboard the Mariner Of The Seas, Grand Celebration, Carnival Sunrise, and MSC Armonia... and we're ready for one more dose of fun to close out our mega vacay agenda!

How often do the turtles need to come up for air?
They seemed to come up about every ten minutes or so, although I've read that they can hold their breath for a few hours if they're resting. Crazy!!

Enjoyed the videos so much. Just one disclaimer....that was NOT Bahamian fish stew . LOLOL!!! My face was aghast. When cruising resumes and you guys visit Nassau or Freeport, please get the REAL Bahamian Stew Fish.....LOLOLOL!!!!! Turtle power!

I cannot believe you went on Princess and did not order the fettuccini Alfredo. I had it every single day. Best Alfredo I ever had, smooth as silk. I was so excited to see this series since we were booked on this ship. Recently cancelled because of the situation in Florida. I appreciate your vlogs, definitely will try this ship in the future and the St Thomas experience was great. I have been there many times and never heard of water island. You guys do such a great job at exploring all the ports and the ships.
Hah, our ship didn't have an Alfredo's restaurant, but we had heard legends and rumors of the fettuccine even from the MDR. Daaaaang, maybe next time!! :P

Yesssss, we definitely want to get to St. John, even if we end up taking a land vacay on St. Thomas or something so that we have plenty of time, ha ha... sounds like a fun time!! :D
Love the turtles. On my last two cruises, we stopped in St. Maarten and there was a store over in the shopping area where we dock that carried very nice things and I found a cute canvas purse that had turtles on it and I do not carry big purses, but this one was sort of mid-size and large enough to put my water bottle in as well as sunglasses and other necessities. The funny part of this is that I have been to St. Maarten so many times and did not take much money with me and I never carry a credit card off ship. I had to walk the whole way back to the ship because I was not leaving without that purse. Lucky for me that I caught the little shuttle cart going back. Why are they always going the opposite direction of where you are headed??????? 🙄 PERFECT LITTLE BAG FOR VACATIONING

Don't give up on St John. You will love beaches there. Hoping that by December we could be cruising again. Praying!
We definitely want to get over to Trunk Bay when we have a nice long time in port. We may plot a land vacation to St. Thomas sometime, who knows. Give ourselves the extra time to explore!! :D

Guess we all know where y'all will go every time you are in St. Thomas. So glad Dee got to see the turtles. We were there a couple years ago on that Pirate ship.
We still want to get over to St. John at some point to see Trunk Bay, but we definitely loved the quick ride over to Water Island!! :D
I’m so happy for you Dee. Swimming with turtles is an amazing experience. Both times I visited Lifou island in the South Pacific I swam with a turtle. How lucky was that! I did not expect to see one the second time and certainly not right next to the pier. Jay we never get tired of Turtle footage!

When we started researching snorkel gear back in the day, we tried to see what some of the top names were. We ended up getting her an Aqua Lung set and myself a Seavenger set, both of which have served us well! Her moreso than me, ha ha... :P ~Jay

Nah, the dress code was very similar to what we were used to on Carnival, etc. Two "formal" nights and the rest is just smart casual.

If you do get to cruise Again and should go to St. Thomas you just have to go to St. John’s! I am telling you it is absolutely beautiful in Saint John’s

Thanks so much! We didn't get to try as much pizza as we would have liked, ha ha... toward the end of the cruise, we mostly hit International Cafe in between other events that were close to that area, ha ha... :P
Question, you indicate that you sailed February 4 to March 6th? That's a long cruise! 😂😂 On another note, I am sure you were made aware of the Covid situation at the time? What were your thoughts? Did anyone seem concerned?
Yep, we did a week at DisneyWorld at the end of January, then six cruises on five different ships from February 3rd until March 6th, hah... we were aware of the pandemic beginning to hit the news more and more, but we didn't really see any effects to our sailings. By the time we got to the Crown Princess, they had added an extra health questionnaire but that was about it!!
Part 2 of the amazing turtle day (with those hitchhiker/remora like fish attached)! Horizon Court buffet is amazing - I love all the salad stuff & the bakery shop too (plus the other hot & cold specialties). Does the Crown Princess have an Alfredo’s restaurant (included - made to order pizza & a few other yummy Italian dishes)?? I usually spend a lot of time in the atrium/piazza - grab a snack from the International Cafe & they have some great shows in the piazza & fun games too (and Zumba & line dance classes - not all at once)!
No Alfredo's that we could locate, hah. We'll have to look for those on future Princess cruises if they have them!! :D
Where the cab rides you had to take to get to and from the honeymoon beach ferry a crazy scary winding road like the rides to Sapphire Beach and the other beaches? I was a little scared the time I went to St. Thomas.
This looked like such a nice day. I hope I have enough time to go there on my next St. Thomas trip!
The ride between the two ports is super easy, right through the city. None of those winding roads stretching across the island, hah. If you happen to hit St. Thomas on a non-Carnival Corp line, you'll most likely dock right at Crown Bay and won't even need a taxi. But Carnival usually takes you into Havensight which is a few minute ride away.

Haaah, maybe so! I used the best shots, which was them swimming and surfacing. But I have plenty of "sitting on the ocean floor, eating" footage that I scrapped... :P
