In reality Martin was forced to play this song by the producers, he wanted to sing a rcok and roll song of his choice but they forced him to sing this. He is my second cousins husband you see and im in contact with him and he told us he was forced to do that song. If he'd sang Johnny B. Goode which ive heard him sing and play at parties he'd do it really well

Simon's acting is terrible here. He actually enjoyed this; just look at his face before the guitar solo. There was nothing wrong with this performance, perhaps it wasn't semi final worthy but for an amateur it was pretty good.
I thought Martin improved quite alot since his first audition. Vocally, he did sound better than his first audition and his guitar work is incredible and clever. I also have to say, his guitar playing actually got better and better.
I'm seeing this for the first time here. I've watched it twice. At 0:45 you can see him soldering, um, excuse me, customising his guitar. What he has achieved, if he did actually do all the customisation himself, is produce, probably, the most advanced, high tech, customisation a guitar has ever had done to it. So Martin is not only a performer but also a very talented electronic engineer! No wonder his mum-in-law is so happy with him! His performance was terrific. I thoroughly enjoyed this!!
