      @@GenieCrafts kinda difficult for me to explain in English. I mean from the start you go from 0 to 101 to 179 but the lines crossed. Shouldn't you go around 101 the other way so the lines stay open?

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  Рік тому +3

      Ok. I understood now. Ideally yes, the loop around the mail head should be in such a way they the lines do not cross. But it does not really affect the final look that much. If we follow this principle the final look is slightly more pleasing

    Can you help what nails you use, what size and how deep should they be and how many cm above the board? the space between the nails should be enough for the thread to shift only or should there be some certain margin to keep the image?

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  Рік тому

      Thanks a lot. All of your questions are covered in subsequent videos that I posted after this video. You can refer to the string art playlist on my channel. But still here are my replies in order
      1. I use nails from 7 mm wall cable clip
      2. The nails should penetrate at least 1 cm to be sure that they will not pop out due to string tension. They should be at least 8-10 mm above board in case you are using a dense design. If u r using thicker threads then it should be at least 1.5 - 2 cm above board. So it’s actually a factor if ur materials and requirement
      3. Space should be enough to shift the threads.

      You actually need to frame it once you have finished the portrait. That way the portrait remains in closed box and does not gather dust or moisture. But you will need frame with a little depth to accommodate for the thickness of board and nail height outside the board

    • @GenieCrafts

      @calmsleep8490 you will use normal sewing thread only but it will still be dense as the board diameter will be small. Also you will be able to accommodate lesser number of nails

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  2 роки тому

      Smaller the canvas, thinner the thread you need. But after a point you cannot use thinner thread as it will break under tension. The thinnest thread you can use is regular polyester sewing thread. Also, I would not suggest to go below 18 inch diameter

    Can I use 1mm thickness thread for this potrait string art?

    • @GenieCrafts
      @GenieCrafts  2 роки тому +1

      1 mm thread is too thick for portrait. What i need is 0.25 mm to 0.5 mm thickness thread for portrait.
      With 1 mm thickness you will need very big board to compensate for the dense space that will be created by thick thread.
      Also threads are measured in weight. For portrait weight 80 is ideal thickness. Higher the weight, thinner the thread.

      @@jayprajapati9691 such small board is not ideal for portrait making. Even if you somehow adjust 180 nails and make the portrait it will come out very dense. Minimum diameter for portrait should be 45-50 cm
