I’m surprised he never learned how to speak Italian, his French is fluent and Italian is much easier to learn. I have found though most people don’t speak Italian as much as French or Spanish.
Maybe you have no idea how hard it is to interpret between two languages, none of which is your mother tongue. Anyway, I think he did a very good job, also considering he's not a professional interpreter.
