I recently visited Anakulam, which is just 98 kms away from Kochi, where I live. Even though I read a lot about the elephants and their activities here, I never thought I'd be lucky enough to meet them the first time ever that I visited this place.
I spent almost 24 hours in this tiny village and got to speak a lot with the local people. The way elephants and humans respect each other here is amazing. They give each other the required space and live in harmony.
ഞാൻ താമസിക്കുന്ന കൊച്ചിയിൽ നിന്ന് 98 കിലോമീറ്റർ മാത്രം അകലെയുള്ള ആനകുളം അടുത്തിടെ ഞാൻ സന്ദർശിച്ചു. ആനകളെക്കുറിച്ചും അവയുടെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും ഞാൻ ഒരുപാട് വായിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും, ആദ്യമായി ഈ സ്ഥലം സന്ദർശിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവരെ കാണാൻ ഭാഗ്യമുണ്ടാകുമെന്ന് ഞാൻ ഒരിക്കലും കരുതിയിരുന്നില്ല.
ഏകദേശം 24 മണിക്കൂറും ഈ കൊച്ചു ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ ചിലവഴിച്ച എനിക്ക് നാട്ടുകാരുമായി ഒരുപാട് സംസാരിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞു. ഇവിടെ ആനകളും മനുഷ്യരും പരസ്പരം ബഹുമാനിക്കുന്ന രീതി അതിശയകരമാണ്. അവർ പരസ്പരം ആവശ്യമായ ഇടം നൽകി യോജിച്ചു ജീവിക്കുന്നു.
